  1. That's looking good. That will be a cool challenge for Hair. I don't remember that old dog thread of yours at all! That was a good-looking dog too.
  2. Hooray for Nancy! Who is #2? I voted for that one! Thanks to everyone who voted for my Christmas Fruitcake! That was one procedural material that makes the fruits, the bread and the crust all together.
  3. In FK mode, yanking on a CP will not move any CPs that are closer to the root. In regular mode, the whole spline can be affected, even by pulling on the very end CP.
  4. Has nobody won this contest yet?
  5. Thanks, everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I really didn't think I was buying a tuba when i bought that. Here's the story: check out post #4 and #12
  6. The daunting thing about CG is the number of things you have to have "done" before you can "start"
  7. I know the feeling. Something have a funny way of looking easier from the beginning. Don't feel like it's a tragedy, it's a bump and you'll recover from it.
  8. Peaceful and beautiful!
  9. I hope you all have a fine holiday! My 2013 musical Christmas card. Gustav Holst's "Cranham" also known as "In the Bleak Midwinter" uy26H7oMGZg
  10. Fabulous!
  11. Welcome back! I seem to recall a "gonzo" from long ago.
  12. How interesting! i have never in my life rotated an object 90° by typing in that number . I've always been using the rotate manipulator and turning it manually which works fine since the angle snap is large enough to hit 90 exactly. When i do it by Rusty's method I do indeed get those crooked splines in both v17 and v 18. Rusty, i suggest you make an AM Report of this (for v18). For now, manually turning the Rotate Manipulator will get you what you want.
  13. On rare occasions the cutplane wizard will make a very odd ring that twists in places. Save that situation and consider submitting it as an AMReport.
  14. The SplitPatch Wizard will add a subdividing spline in both direction on selected patches. If you selected two adjoining rings it would add a new ring between them and you could manually delete the crossing splines that are also added that you don't want.
  15. My first gambit would be to use the Cut Plane wizard which has the option of merely adding a ring rather than severing the object into two parts at the intersection plane. This presumes the two neighboring rings are far enough apart to fit the Plane between them
  16. I almost forgot to vote!
  17. Very clever! I keep forgetting how much drag and drop can do in A:M.
  18. That looks very cool. Merry Christmas!
  19. Instead of "Mirror All Smartskin"? No, I don't think there is a way to mirror several, but not all Smartskins. Here's a crazy idea.... Delete all the ones you don't want to mirror, then do Mirror Aall, then with a text editor, reinsert the ones you didn't want' mirrored from a previous version of the file. I did say it was crazy.
  20. And Merry Christmas to you, Karen!
  21. I'll never understand color space.
  22. I was reviewing this thread and remembered you had that bad accident. Are you back to Rodney-normal now?
  23. Can you point me to an example of what those other people were doing? I can't picture it.
  24. Aside from carefully fitting the eyelid to the eye ball, of course, what I've been typically doing is taking the inner loop of the eyelid and extruding it one more time and scaling that down to a point at the center of the eyeball so it's like a cone coming from the center of the eye. That makes for no visible gap between the eyelid and eye. That works except for extreme close ups which are rare.
  25. What sort of gaps?
