I jus redid the mirror and now I only have 668 patches! Whoa...talk about waste of time
-
-
Alright...added just a few things. right now the work time is slow because AM keeps closing out on me once in awhile (haven't lost anything yet) Got a q. is 707 patches for this model too much?
-
Holy crud A. How did you do the big tires (duplication wizard, sweeper, etc.) B. What about all of the bolts C. Post wireframe view D. how many patches?
-
I used the sweeper demo for the two bottom arches. A sextant was a tool used to measure how high, in terms of angles, a location was. You'd peep through a sight and slowly move up the tool until you found your target. You'd look on that bottom arch, and wherever the index arm (the big thing that looks like a grandfather clock "bell") is pointing to, that's the number of degress the location is from you wherever you are
-
for a Lewis and Clark project in school I'm presenting different tools with 3D displays. This is my first tool->the sexant

Haha...sweet man. So simple to make, yet looks so complex, yet it's so useful, yet I can't think of anything to use it for, yet I'm sure somebody will use it, yet I don't know anybody that will, yet---I'll stop

whoopsie...sorry 'bout that...dude it'd be awesome to rig it. Maybe you can have a virtual competition when you see if you can solve the puzzle. You have a pose for "scramble" then you have to move the bones into the right placement. This rig would involve falloff and a lot of study of the anatomy of the cube, but it'd be worth the effort

I suggest somehow making the black gridlines bump maps as indents or add splines and pull in the grid area
-
That's what I'm talkin' about!!! there ya go! It looks great so far
-
the famous creator of awesome water simulation!! Hey man, could you update that tute? just take out the image sequence part..all you have to do is adjust displacement on the material
-
Thanks for supporting me But, really bentomax...the reason why I stress that about the joints is because if one part of the body looks complex, so should the rest of it...the torso and such seems like it'd match up with complex joints, instead of sticks..that's why I said that. Truthfully, I wanna check out the model file after you're done with it

Everything looks great, but something about your photography..your subject shouldn't be center framed unless there isn't any space (as in a close up). For example, in the leaf photo, it should have been on the left or right, or at least a bit more to the side to add interest...one of the main keys to interesting photgraphy
-
That's what I'm talking about!!! make sure to make the joints realy complex
-
I suggest something like this that connects the shoulder and arm: (beveled edges would apply, but I didn't want to take my whole time doing this Or you could make the shoulder gaurd in the shape of a football-like gaurd

More advanced??? Tough? I'm sorry for the tough critiques, but these are true thoughts on my mind. negatives: - head is too wide, mouth does not look robotic (too small) - Eyes should be wider/bigger. Mr. Jaqe, the eyes don't look tough at all or thug-like. I think they should have a bit of reflectivity/transcluency - the legs are attached to the pelvis wth a little pole...examine pics of the other robots. You'll see there is more mechanics involved to stabilize the leg. Postives: - Great body material...looks exactly as in the movie - body anatomy is pretty good, except for the wide head - arm structure (black wires, etc.) is great Just think about this...I have never modeled a robot like this, but surely if I did these would be some big thoughts on my mind

Have you examined pictures of this guy very much? The head is supposed to be a bit thinner and there are actually eyes in the head, not black holes.
-
Nope..I get a "broken quicktime" sign when I click on the link
-
Better than what I can do...if you soften the whole pic a bit, the result will look a bit better
-
WOW. That's pretty nice. how long did it take you? Could you post up a small render of the pose in action?
-
Just made this after improving my lamp rig..shaded render..236kb lamphop.mov
-
that's w/ no maps!! wow..that's great!
-

Wow..that's pretty niifffty
