I have not yet rigged the guy yet, therefore the antennas are straight...once I rig the guy he'll automatically have bent antennas whenever creating a new action or chor...
-
I quickly drew up a concept of this guy's head and I made it..I want a body though...should I just create a standard insect thorax mechanically and create the rest of the guy that way?
-
You could create an on and off pose... what you do is right click in the model window, and push "new pose>on/off" Now...in the actions folder (in the PWS) you'll find the relationship you're working on..crack it open and you'll find "shortcut to --whatever your model file is--". Push the "show driver" button (it looks like three wires that are plugged in) and you'll see the properties of your model...crack down into the surface properties of whatever group it is that's glowing and you'll see it there...turn your pose to off and turn glow off...then turn it to on and turn glow on. for some reason you'll have to turn it off again and turn glow off for the software to know what's happening. There you go

That is truthfully a very cute character..could you post up the model file? I'd like to check it out!
-
This doesn't have to do w/ secondary motion..it has to do with follow through...but if it's a test, then OK
-
Robcat, this excersise is mainly for timing, anticipation and the concepts of animation. I'm not working on cycles right now, but I see what you're saying. Alright..I add some anticipation to the head turns. the file was too big for some reason so I put it in a zippy Little_bot.zip

The actual running part looks great but the head is very stiff. I suggest adding a bit of bounce to it to show mass. Looks great...yeah...did you use dynamics?
-
EDIT: What??? it says I can't upload quicktime..weird
-
Well, I've just finished abosrbing all of the stuff in Jeff Lew's vid and now I'm going to create something random: a little robot type dude that looks around, walks forward, looks around some more, then jumps...here's the first pass Animation_excersise.mov
-
man, I can't see a demo of my own rig! lol...it says quicktime cannot read that format. can you export it in .mov format? EDIT: I thought someone would add bones. The reason for the lack of them is because it was for a non-joint character. I'm probably going to make the rig so it has some shoulder bones 'n' stuff.
-
I knew it was the rig! (it sorta was). more like the assigned points...so, yeah..just expirement with the CP assignments next time. Nice Rig that is!

Sweet! That flatters me I have a question for anybody who uses this...would you like a version with FK arms? I just watched Jeff Lew's vid and found out arcs aren't very good with IK arms...so, would you guys want me to make a slider of "FK arms" -
Very nice! Not much to say now because you're off to a great start!

Thanks! It's been fun working on the guy! I plan to add some more (hehehe) -
NIIIICEE! How did you groom the hair so well? The face is real smooth and the details are accurate. She's a white doll, though! Good job

The cube comes alive! Muaahahahaha lol...it's easy but it's a good way to learn one of the major concepts of animation sweet stuff!

Yeah...I like that style a lot too! Not only does it look cool, but it also takes away an problems with creases in joints when it comes to animating EDIT: What if I added a new feature: the "fat torso" slider is at 100 percent and then stomach bones appear so mass can be added to the belly when animating -
the second one: How do they go that far? did you model the shoes so that the top went all the way up into the pants? The third one: This one is not because of bad modeling. It has to do with rigging...I have an idea for how you could avoid this...you'll have to post up a screenshot of your rig The forth one: once again, a rigging problem The fifth one: If you are using targets for the knees you could be positioning them wrong These are just assumpations...if you post up a screenshot of your spline structure and your rig I could help you more

Fishman, I did mean to not make the fist close all the way..any further would cause too much seaping between the finger joints. I've updated the model thanks to your help ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animation Guy 1.2! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright guys, I've changed the feet control to a null instead of a normal bone...I also took off the "elbow target position" slider, but I didn't take off the knee one. I felt the knee poser would be used more than the elbow pose if anybody does use them.. I also added a "show finger controls" pose slider so you don't have trouble selecting a bone whenever you are animating... Without further ado, I give you Animation guy 1.2! Animationguy1_2.prj -
Looks like something that'd be from the movie, Robot(s?) Sweet thing ya got there! after you rig it can you post it up for us?
