  1. Thanks Paul! Working on another hopefully better quality one now Martin thanks! -Ethan
  2. Hey Gang, I almost hesitate to post this in the "showcase" forum because it is very much a project that was kept under the covers while I learned to use Animation Master, and that was it's purpose. But it's gotta be done, i've been putting it off for two years! It wasn't designed to wow everyone with artistic talent, explosions, and fast paced gunplay. I learned EVERYTHING there is to know about how NOT to make an animation while creating this piece. The reason I am posting it in it's entirety is as a small thank you to the whole Animation Master Community, and every single one of you who has put up with my questions and stupidities over the years. To Hash as well for creating a program capable of bringing characters to life so intuitively. It's safe to say I would know very little about AM without the help of this forum and the good hearted people who give of their time to help others here. For instance, I remember getting suck for HOURS trying to figure out how to make a silly 5 point patch early on...till someone on the forums mentioned the nice little button for it. lol.... how lame is that. At any rate to cut through the fat, it's a story about obedience and the target audience is kids. Ken Baer was nice enough to stick it up on AM films for me so you can get it there now. As a warning the quality is pretty poor at the beginning and slowly improves a bit to the end, so don't turn it off after the first few minutes! Chances are if you have kids they might enjoy it. http://amfilms.hash.com/search/entry.php?entry=1096 Thanks again all of you, -Ethan P.S. One final note, enough poeple have asked that i've put Theo N' Fink on a cute little mini-DVD for thier kids and such. If you have little ones that might like such a thing you can contact me. Not trying to solicit here, the entire film is on AM films, just letting you know it's available.
  3. Nice! I hadn't been around to see this thread. Seems as though your previous modeling expirience is definately helping out! You're doing an excellent job modeling mechanically in AM! Look forward to seeing him completed and textured! -Ethan
  4. Nice work Ken! Was he just for fun or for a project you're working on? -Ethan
  5. Grrr.. can't watch it yet, i'm on travel and we've only got dial-up here... looking forward to it though Dhar! -Ethan
  6. That's truly disgusting Mike... Does look very nice matt... has a good realism to it! It has adventure game written all over it. The ceiling light edges and ceiling could use some detail. Like side guards maybe on the lights? Maybe they could be set to not cast shadows so as not to mess with your nice lighting. Great work, i'm jealous I don't have time right now to play with Radiosity... -Ethan
  7. Ah it looks very nice dude! Excellent modeling. -Ethan
  8. Nice detail and textures on your characters! -Ethan
  9. Coming along nicely Steve! Yes I would say it would definitely look better if the mane was both longer and thicker... and you could taper the ends of the hairs to get them a more wispy life like hair feel. The eye also doesn't seem quite right unless you're going for a character instead of realism. Horses eyes are mostly shiny blackness. Keep it up, like watching it come along! -Ethan [Edit] Don't know if you already know how to make the hair taper but Colin describes the process well at the bottom of his hair tutorial page. http://www.colins-loft.net/new_coop_tutorial/CoopHair.html
  10. very fluid and easy on the eyes, great work, I especially like the expression communicated by the eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. I'd be very interested to know what kind of face rig you have going too if you ever had a chance to share. -Ethan
  11. This is a specific file for someone to show how a single 4 point patch is created [attachmentid=20384] TickTack.zip
  12. I smell UV texturing Nice work Ken can't wait to see him textured.
  13. Good modeling muff. Has the makings of a nice spooky haunted house!
  14. Really cool usage of the displacement John! I can't understand how he looks so detailed without any distortions though. In my somewhat brief expirience so far the painted Dmaps in 3D painter were exhibiting artifacts. You projection painted these on the model from different angles?
  15. Expirimentation with 3D painter, fairly subtle skin details, You almost only see the difference if you compare the two. It is alot of fun to paint directly on the surface. He now looks a little bit older and wiser. [attachmentid=20110]
  16. [attachmentid=19986] Minor update... he has a new hat..... next step texturing with 3dpainter.....
  17. I like the detail improvement and higher resolution of the new model. Keep up the good work!
  18. hey he's looking good. I could totally see a bit of a hairy belly button on the smooth chub there. Just a detail suggestion. -Ethan
  19. Definitely an improvement, you got rid of allot of creasing and smoothed things considerably. If you could figure out a way to fuse his ear into his head mesh that would help out the ears appearance significantly. -Ethan
  20. incredible.....looking more and more like a photograph all the time! Tell me that some time you will render a shot in the water? -Ethan
  21. Awesome Kevin... I love the subtle reflections and depth of field. Good glossy guitar texture. Great job man, -Ethan
  22. Gorgeous Stian... i've been watching in awe from the sidelines. I love the detail. Your eye can just rove and rove. A co-worker of mine who has no interest in 3D spotted this from accross the room and said "WOW who's is that!" I don't suppose you'd let us in on the current patch count and render time? Your hard work is definately paying off! -Ethan
  23. Thanks for the comments Eric! You're right he has kinda drifted into a soldier. He is to be both arisan and warrior though so never fear. He should drift back toward artist as I begin to work on the scene I have in mind for him. In this case a darkened Rembrant type art studio complete with canvas and oil paints, his sword will probably be laying around somewhere in it as well. Though at my current speed the scene should be done somewhere around the AM 2010 mascot contest Thanks for the interest in this guy, more as time permits. -Ethan
  24. Well I guess i'm talking about as far as modeling goes so far, he has no textures except for the cloak yet, and your right it could use some help. Surfacing isn't one of my finer abilities unfortunately . I have to try and learn how to get some good textures on him and the wierd shape of his vest isn't helping. Anyone notice projection maps don't seem to be working in 13c? -Ethan
