  1. Thanks again Clone dude! For some reason the top four images aren't showing up for me... Here's the next character--he's been really fun. AO makes the goggles funny, the final renders won't be like this Thanks, Lee
  2. Thanks a lot Michael! That's a bigger complament then you may know--me and another guy on the project spent the better part of last night trying to make Guri look babe-ish enough. The first attempts were SCARY, luckily all documentation of said attempts have been destroyed They are not! They're slender and muscular! Oh! Yeah...well, I agree. I guess I wanted the pants to seem baggy but since they only have bump-mapped wrinkles it looks like his chunky legs are about to blow the pants apart Here's the last update for Prince Xizor--his iconic spiny back Here's how his face turned out: Daniel (goodguy20k) has volunteered to animate Xizor. Thanks Daniel! Modelers/Riggers/Animators are still welcome if you're interested Thanks! Lee
  3. Hey! Too fast for comments on this one I guess! Muah ha ha ha! Guri 2: Traveling Gear (With Quick AO for fun) Lee
  4. Too true lol... you know Jeff--there are some outrageous creatures that could be modeled...I mean, I know that's kind of a specialty of yours Thanks Al and clonewar12345! Here's a new character--Guri, the Star Wars version of 7 of 9 (hair to be textured): EDIT Here's the new face sculpt--Killed myself trying to get it, I think it was worth it Thanks, Lee
  5. Sure! Uh-oh! Is Ken's interest being peaked? Does Ken want to make a Star Wars model? (waves his Jedi hand) You want to make a Star Wars model. Well, if you want and/or have time. But if an invitation is what you were waiting for, here it is I kept the spline count conservative because of the resolution the model will be seen at.
  6. Thanks Gustavo! I'll be starting on another character tomorrow That would be awesome! Thanks Daniel! There are no real deadlines to this--it just has to be done in the eventual future...is that non-deadliney enough? I'll PM you with details, thanks again! You will be I used Photoshop CS for my decals. I think it's a necessity, but I used Paint for a loooong time. Obviously you can't get nearly as sophisticated textures but it still works Here's one just for fun: I realized that in the last picture (rendered with AO) made him look way too pink--these are the true colors Any more takers on some animating/rigging/modeling? Lee
  7. Thanks Ken! That's a big complement coming from a top-notch modeler such as yourself Thanks! I'm not sure that I could write a tutorial about anything that's not already out there. With these kind of models it's really just a matter of finding the workflow that's best for you. Just keep practicing and learn how to do decal work--that's what makes up half of this model. What's your fanfilm about? Good luck! Here's Boba in his finished form: 5,033 patches. This wouldn't be bad for a next-gen game model if I do say so myself! Still looking for animators--all you would be doing is basic actions: walk cycles etc. Lee
  8. Thanks Dhar and Jeff-glad to hear you fine fellas like it! For me, I go as fast as I can--putting a lot of detail in textures--sometimes using photos. I steal parts of old models and just go for it! Sometimes things can go slower, like with Fett because of his details--here's an update: Thanks guys! Lee
  9. Hey everybody! I've been working on a personal project (Dark_Jedi is also slated to start on this) lately that involves creating TONS of Star Wars character at medium detail as photo-realistic as possible. (Sorry Colin, no Lost World entry yet) All in all, there are about 30 characters that need to be modeled. Here's my old work (about 6 months ago) for the project (they're animated): I'm not 100% satistfied with these and I might go back to them New stuff: This project involves a lot of "speed modeling" which I LOVE! This guy was done in 3 1/2 hours: Newest WIP--one of my favorites I'll post as I get more--hoping for a character every 2 or 3 days depending on their complexity. That may be a stretch for the last guy. If you would like to post crits, that would be great but I might not have the time to do them unless they're REALLY good. Thanks-Lee P.S--if anyone using V13 or higher is interested and thinks that they can make realistic movement for these guys and animate them (Oh, and rigging too, lots of quick, messy rigging. In fact if you're interested and capable of creating photo-realistic models too)--PM me
  10. Holy cow! That looks awesome! Is that all model detail? What's the patch count? Keep it up! -Lee
  11. Great work on the animation Chris! Good dialogue too, it took me a while to understand what he was saying, but I finally caught on. Great job guys! Keep it up! Lee
  12. Stian, sometimes you're so good, it makes me mad Great work! Lee
  13. That looks great! I always wondered what was behind that black mask...I guess I know now
  14. You are good! Jimmy Kofka was that guy/s name. I thought it was Caushca for a long time, though. When I found it wasn't I made up my own character named "Caushca". The question is, what does J-Man mean?

  15. Heh, silly Idaho kids This character is amazing, Mr. Dude! Creating characters as cool as this is a rare talent Lee
  16. Lighting Challenge I think these would be great for our community. I'm not sure about A:M specific tuts though. Have you checked the ARM?
  17. Alright Caleb, I got a good 'un for ya I had several "aha" moments while reading this one. I love it! Light- a detailed tutorial EDIT I did a link to part 4, but all parts all great While on the subject, I think that we should do Lighting Challenges like on the CGtalk forums. I have a detailed model of a set I'm making right now for this purpose, would there be any interest there? Good luck Caleb! Lee
  18. That looks great David! Could you tell us a little bit more about the project it's for? Lee
  19. My point was that this isn't just any Mario film, it's yours! Go crazy! You're working with a group of artists who have some new and great ideas of how these classic characters and objects could be reinvented. Nintendo's graphics and resolutions (at least the ones I played) allow for plenty of interpretation, I think it's time to get creative! Anyway, that was my point. Good luck team Mario, you guys are doing a great job! Lee
  20. Wow! Sometimes this thread can be a little bit brutal. Personally, I think that that is great Tan Man! Real eggs can have many different color patterns on them. I've never seen a real Yoshi egg before. If you think that the dots need to be more solid, then go for it, but I don't think that they need to be. Whoops! Just thought I'd pop in and say my opnion Lee
  21. Thanks Connor and Trajcedrv! I can't tell you how much I agree! Thanks Nancy, you know, I always liked Gene Kelly better than Fred Astaire for some reason. Trying to animate tap dancing may be harder than doing it! Okay, I tried some more scenes. Oh man, folks I think I may have have stumbled onto my style! This is way exciting for me This last one is a little thrown together, but I was getting excited WHOO!
  22. Thanks Caleb! Thanks Dhar, there's a little St. James Infirmary in there We should really work on a project together one of these days I hadn't thought of that, but it does look a little like a stage set. The idea was to have the environment look vast, though, maybe there are some things that I can add to improve that. I also agree about the light. This isn't for a website...sadly... Thanks for the comments Paul! Lee
  23. Hey everybody! This scene comes from an idea that I had the other night; it's not techinally amazing but it is original. My goal was to come up with a look or feel that hasn't been seen before. What do you think? Lee
  24. Hey guys! I've been impressed with your work lately, keep it up! Do you have a plot for this movie, or a script? What's it about? Good luck! Lee
