  1. She could really use another spline to define her cheek....running down from her eye.
  2. Good to see you on board....on the board. Uncle Sam is quite prompt these days...if Hash have the staff. lol Did you watch Greg's videos? They're great too: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...=22034&hl=magic As you probably know by now, splines are a different breed to polys. That's not just the marketing talk but you may find it quite tricky to get the hang of them if you're used to polys. That's what the forums for....
  3. Looking good! I'm intrigued by what the animation will be about.
  4. Those leg cylinders are far superior. I'd like to see that in the shoulders. Where are you getting the measurements from? Are you just looking at a model figure and doing it by eye?
  5. Most likely the existing models will be taken over by the TWO models at some stage (v14?). They'll then be updated bit by bit to the new rigs. But there's nothing to stop there being two rigs with characters. The new one isn't as simple as the old one and so might be more daunting for newbies.
  6. So the actual film will use other software right? I'd love to get involved with the previz anyway. Where do we apply? I take it this is the story: FAZAD
  7. A picture paints a thousand words. So we'd be 10 times more clued in.....
  8. I found this one took longer to load than the first one. About 12 seconds. Still acceptable for me.... Yeah, I guess you could just start the audio before the images so then when viewed on the web, they'd be in sync.
  9. If it's crashing AM, you should report it to Hash at AM:Reports.
  10. Better with the lower eyelids I think. Do you have a decal on his face? It looks like it might be "unapplied" from what you did on the chin....
  11. 7 seconds here. XP and Firefox. Sound was fine. BTW Nice work on the demos...
  12. They look great. I'm sure people would use them.
  13. The spline layout looks ok, but there are some creases. That can only mean they're dead end splines. The main one is on the chin. You've done the textures already though. That and hair! You mustn't be new to 3D. The hands look abit boxy. Maybe they need to be rotated for rigging too. So the palms face the ground. Nice work!
  14. It's a good start. Looks like some creasing in there. Post a shaded wireframe for more in depth crits.....
  15. The before is good, but the after is Lucas quality. You'd get a green stamp. As for beveling, here's an example. Imagine these are the cross sections of cylinders just before lathing.... The first uses the least splines as it's just a sharp edge where the spline corner is peaked. The second uses two cps to contain a fillet (curved edge) made by adjusting the magnitude of the corner spline....which is unpeaked. The third is a filet where three peaked splines meet producing a flat edge at the corner. The advantages of two and three are that a specular highlight is produced at the corner making it seem more realistic. Because in reality, every corner is worn and not at perfect right angles.
  16. I'd like to see him model his avatar......or the milenium falcon.....or....so much choice...... PS You should join up with a Star Wars fan movie project. There was a guy on the forum a while ago making one. Can't remember who, but do a search.
  17. Looking pretty sweet so far. You could make a cool ship or something out of that shape right there.
  18. ALT + 5> HTML Tutorials> Hello.
  19. Try posting the sorenson mov here and we can discount your codecs being the problem.....
  20. I remember several thread about this. Do a search for render speed or something like that. One thing is to increase the priority of your AM on your cpu using the task manager.
  21. You can create anything of any quality in AM. The deciding factors as to the result are time and talent. So, get practicing! Making the tripod doesn't seem too hard. The worst part would be the specific rigging.
  22. This is an illegal operation in AM....or rather it will create a crease in the patch. The mouth has similar mistakes and I can't see where you mean on the neck. But it's a good model for only a few months.
  23. For that (with any software) you'd need a green screen for the extras to run in front of. You could then use layers within AM: First layer in front of camera is the alpha footage of the extras running. Second "layer" would be the foot. Third would be the background which could be completely 3D or just footage. Could be an image if just a pan with no angle change, but if the sky is visible, you'd need to track the shot.
  24. If it's just a foot in front of the camera with the extras behind the foot then all you would have to do is this: Setup your camera (in AM) with a video rotoscope. Import your foot model Place the foot in front of the camera in the chor Job done If you want to do any panning of the camera/show the ground, it would be abit more tricky, but not impossible.
