  1. I got it to work....you have to set the "Main model name" specular colour to the colour you want. Then it will work for any groups you have in the model. Quirky I know. Anyway, here's an update on the trolls environment. Picture him bounding through the shadows in this corridor....knocking into things. He's on the run!
  2. Thanks for the complements! I actually modeled him on Geri so I'm chuffed you recognised him(I guess you didn't see the previous modeling thread). Unfortunately no body to go with him. I'm working on another project which will make use of all Geri taught me though.
  3. No it wasn't on. Actually there is a specular highlight in the pic....I discovered it was so large that it covered the whole of the barrel. *But* as the "Specular Colour" in the properties is set to white, I was expecting the highlight to be white also. I've sent this to support as it seems to be a bug.
  4. Nice! What's making the bumps on that?
  5. I'll put this here as it's easier to post a pic.....Is anyone having a problem with specular highlights? I've bumped up the specularity on this barrel and the light has spec turned on, but there's no white rim on the barrel. Can someone confirm/deny this. Cheers.
  6. Thanks peeps! Here's his wires. There's a few 5 pointers in there but I couldn't see any other way with his face being that shape.
  7. Given that there's so few on this forum, I thought I'd add one. Time to texture.
  8. I take it you're using the "fall-off capsule". That's too limiting. You have to weight the cps by hand especially in the mouth area as there's so much crossover with the capsules. It's slow at first, but once it's done, it's done. See the online reference about weighting manually.
  9. I'm working on a project and on a particular bone, I get two sets of lines(RGB) and when I copy and past them, they get confused and cris cross. Anyone know how to fix this?
  10. I know what you mean, John....I might add that by hand. Victors technique can be seen here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4582&hl=
  11. I had to weight the cps around the mouth so they moved properly. Each mouth bone controls a line of cps. So mouth bones start a chain reaction and move the skin all the way up to the cheek and eye area (which are connected to other bones).
  12. He's shaping up nicely! Now it's the hard part...the head!
  13. *cough* The lungs are built into the stand *cough* Brandon: Thanks and sorry to disappoint you, the mouth uses Victors method. I chose it because it give you "on the spot" freedom to alter an expression, plus you don't have to fiddle around with cps to make them in the first place. You should give it a try as it's not as complex as it looks.
  14. Gandalf would be easy as he's hidden under all those clothes.
  15. And the animation: 10MB
  16. Hey guys. I've been working on that experimental head I did a while back and I'm up to a minute of animation. It's really just a test but it's a little short in itself. I hope you like it. I would value any crits on it as I want to put this on my portfolio, so don't hold back. PS I'll be putting in a puff of dust to make him sneeze when I get my video editor.
  17. Looks just like it! The light looks abit low res though. The image contests are themed, so you might have to wait for a relevant one. You can get all the info at the hash main site.
  18. He looks great regardless of the underlying mess It's pretty easy when you get the hang of it. Just remember animation areas need rings around them and it's just a matter of joining them up into the face you want. Oh and less is more with splines as you know.
  19. How do you know this? You didn't count them did you?
  20. Good progress! His arms look a little big though.
  21. WOW! That's a look I've never seen before. Well done. Any wires?
  22. Creature??!?? It's a DRAGON!! And a very nice example it is too.
  23. Intricate work! I assume most of that is decals. From what I remember, the one in the series is darker in colour.
  24. Wow! They even give Huntress a run for her money....such natural movement too!
