Yes, I heard they were loosing the war - I was just in Target yesterday and Blueray has a hugh display telling how much better and more info their DVD's hold. Anyway, I have a client set on having her animation put on HD DVD - just wasn't sure how to go about it. There is a local Video Production place which probably does- they can probably do it, I'm just not sure what to bring them - I don't really want to buy the hardware - like you mentioned if they get beat out. On the output side of it - is there anything different you do in AM when exporting it - or is the HD DVD just a result of the being burned using a HD DVD drive - this may be a dumb question, but I know nill about it. ;-)

Hi Jzawacki - thank you - that pretty much answeres my question - it's the hardware.

Hello - I have a client that wants an animation project for a website - and she also wants it put on a High Definition DVD - Does anyone know anything about that, and if it would be rendered at a different setting or something? I have made DVDs, using a render of the animation from AM and making a DVD from it with Premiere, but wasn't sure about HD DVD. Any info would be great. Thanks, Eric

I am getting more confident in my modeling ability, so I thought I would challenge myself and TRY to model a motorcycle. Below is a couple of pics of the actual bike and the front wheel that I started on. I think one of my problems is too many CPs, but as you can see from the CPs pic there is a lot of detail around the wheel rim and the indented black area - that I have a lot of CPs in, which I think I need, but not sure if there is a simpler and better way to do it - I would love any advice on that and anything else. Also, the tire I just put a torus on there as a filler - I'll do the tires last and try to get suggestions on the best way to do it. Thanks for any help, Eric

Thank you... "it could have been my crappy attitude"... that's funny.

Hi - where does it show who got 2nd, 3rd and 4th place or the January "Heroes" contest?
-
Hey Robert - I just sectioned the wings off into 3 section and applied hair at different lengths - and changed the width of the hair in the properties timeline to resemble feathers more. His tail is just the same thing, but 7 inches long.
-
Rodney - don't mind the crits at all, that is the only way to get better - you ask a non 3D person and you get a "that look great" answer... you post in the forum and you get useful crits (the truth) ;-) I was hoping to win with the "heroes" with the frog too, but it's hard to beat a modeler as good as Eric Campden. -E

Thanks again for answering all my forum questions for this project. I put it up on my site, if anyone wants to take a look. He's the 5th character over on the top row. www.3dcharacteranimation.biz -Eric

Hi John - just downloaded - thanks again for your time.

I just set up a "force" for wind similar to the "waving the flag" tutorial and put it next to the bird. The feathers (fur) dynamics options are set to "on". I figured the wind would blow the feathers, but it didn't. I rendered a 5 second anim and it turned out as a 5 second still image, it did nothing. Has anyone played around with making grass blow or anything similar??
-
Thanks John, you always come through.
-
Hi John - thanks for the email - yes it was for pre-SimCloth, but I thought I would use it to refresh my memory on setting up the wind force. I figured it would be lots of experimenting, so I better get busy.

I created a tucan bird model with feathers (hair). Before I play around with it, I wanted to make sure it is possible if I have the bird flying that the feathers have a "blowing in the wind" look. I did the "Waving the flag" exercise about a year ago, so I'm going to run through that again, but wanted to make sure it would work before I put the time into it. Can anyone advise me on this or even have an animation they have done, that I could see the effect. Thanks - E

The Tucan is coming along - it just amazes me the ability of what this program is capable of - on top of that it is only $300. And I am only familiar w/ a small portion of it.

Nice work John!

Hi edlundart - I just changed the width of the hair in the timeline. Here is a post where Nancy put up a screenshot visual of how it is done for me. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...601&hl=hair Here is an updated version of the wings I did to make them look a little more realistic - I just seperated the top of the wings into 3 sections and applied the hair material on them at different lengths.

Hi Andy - wow, you are really good, exactly the kind of thing I am looking for. I am thinking a cartoon human character - something like your "frontbutt" drawing. When I get to that character project I'll let send you an email, - I appreciate you posting. Thanks - Eric
-
Yes, you are right - perfect, I can see it now, I just thought he had an oval eyeball.
-
I'll have to get back to you on that one when I know exactly what I want. In the meantime, do you mind posting some samples of your work, I think me and everyone else would love to see some of it. Thanks - Eric

Thanks Tommy - I can see the lids on the parrot, but look at this pic of the Tucan, it's hard to tell where the lid would come out from...
-
Hi Dhar - not quire sure yet, was just trying to line up an artist. Still thinking about the character - working on one now, so it will be my next one. I want it to be a person though - need practice modelling a human face - but I definately want it cartoon style - not photorealistic.
-
Also, does anyone know if a Tucan blinks? I am looking at all the pics and not really seeing any eyelids? Kinda odd, I guess I never thought about it.

oops..
