  1. Hi Ken - I delete the second hand and it fixes the problem. I shut down the program and open it up again - and again, no problem. I delete the hand copy and paste the first hand and put the hand back into place and it works fine - I then shut down the program and same problem. I guess I could make him a one handed character. ;-) Also, how do I get into the area that it shows all the individual CP's and their associated numbers? Thanks for your help - Happy St Patrick's day out in Ireland. ;-)
  2. Back again - I guess that was only a temp fix - now whenever I open the program it does it to this one model. "Exception #033 Realtime Render" Any suggestions?? Thanks - Eric
  3. Alright, that was interesting - the last thing I modelled was the character's hand/arm sticking out the end of his coat and then made a copy of it flipping it in the x axis and moving it over to his other arm. I just deleted one of the hands and the character would render fine then I copied it again and flipped it and moved back and problem is gone.... I guess it's good - thanks anyway.
  4. Having an issue - I am working on a project and my model when I try to view as shaded the message pops up "Exception #033 Realtime Render" - it also said when I opened the model "CP listed twice" - I think that was the wordingin - I guess somehow there is a CP w/ the same name or something? Has anyone ever run into this issue? How do I get the section in the properties that show's all the CP's - maybe I can find it in there and delete it - if that is the issue. Any help or suggestions would be great.
  5. Thanks guys for your replies - Sebastian thanks for bringing up the decal - I had forgotten about that. For anyone who wasn't sure about the decal - it is under the Hair System's "hair emitter" there is a section at the top that says "image" - that is where you import the image. Still not sure why the other is not working for me - it wasn't set to white, but I'll give the decal a try and see how it looks. Thanks again - E
  6. Hi - I created a hair system for a model. I want the hair to a shade of grey and brown so I created a new attribute (cell turb) as part of this hair system and made it grey and brown. When I apply the hair system material to the model the hair is showing as white. Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong? Thanks - Eric
  7. Hello - I am taking a stab at photorealistic modeling of a person. My question is when it comes to the skin of the face and body what is the best thing to do? Let's say you don't have an actual pic good enough to use the actual photo as a decal. Would us use a material combining 2 "skin" colors - and then use seperate decals possibly for eyebrows? Any help, suggestion or techniques that anyone uses would be much appreciated. Thanks - Eric
  8. Hi Ken - just saw your reply - thank you.
  9. Nevermind, I just answered my own question... Ambience Color "white" and ambience intensity as "40" or "50"
  10. I noticed if you make an object white (255,255,255) it always has a silver look to it - is there a way to give it more of a "white" look? Thanks, Eric
  11. Fuchur - Hi - I see the new action it created, but I am not seeing the Is there something in the preference setting that I don't have checked or something to bring that up? Thanks - Eric
  12. Wow did actually contribute something to the forum instead of everyone helping me.
  13. There is a website that allows you to send files at no charge for up to 100mb - you upload it to their site and the site automatically sends your contact an email with a link to download it - it stays up their for 7 days. It's a great service. http://www.yousendit.com/ - E
  14. Hi Furchur - thank you for the in depth description of how to do it - I'll give it a try.
  15. Here is the dictionary definition "1. A wise and trusted counselor or teacher".... they don't mention anything about crazy, but anyone that puts the hours into what we do has to have a little crazy in them.
  16. My mentor comes through again. Thanks John - I'll check it out. Have a great weekend!
  17. Hi Ken, or anyone else that might be able to help - I was able to get it work in an action - but can't seem to get it to work as a pose slider. You wrote "You can. But you have to do it within the pose action.....using the "show mode than drivers" red x icon to get at the groups. Once you find the group in there, you can change its color at different percentages. " I have been digging all over the place for about an hour and cannot find where the "pose action" is located. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Eric
  18. Thanks everyone for the suggestions - and the link.
  19. Hi John - what exactly do you mean by "swatches" - like small groups of modelled strands? This actually will work perfect - the character is laying in a hospital bed w/ very little movement, to answer your question. When I get to the point of making the hair, I may need to pick your brain on the decaling. Thanks again - Eric
  20. Also - what would be your best guess - is that modelled individual strands? And are they decalled or a material used on them? Any suggestions. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hi William - no it is for a 45 second animation - which is going to be an issue w/ using a hair material - at a high resolution output. John - I love that pic as well - that has to be modelled correct? - was hair material even avail in 2000? I think I'll give it a try.. not saying it will come out that good, but I'll give it a try. ;-) Great example - thanks.
  22. Hi - I am working on a project for a client that has to be rendered out at a very high resolution - one of the characters in the scene is a girl with long hair - I want to use a hair material to create her hair, but getting concerned I may not be able to render it, or take way too long at the resolution it has to be in. Has anyone created a character they could point me to or post a pic of that they modelled the hair, but still has a realistic look to it? Thanks - Eric
  23. Hi Ken - I actually created the color change as an action over 2 seconds - from silver to orange to red - just changed the color in the timeline - works great - thanks again for your help.
