Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises" gets slight distribution
jakerupert replied to robcat2075's topic in Open Forum
The sad thing about this is, that because of censorship and siccors in the head a genius like Miyazaki would never have been possible in the USA. All the interesting and fresh stuff comes from outside the Hollywood industry like Persepolis and Waltz with Bashir. I wonder how that really great TV series from HBO like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Six Feet Under have been possible... -

so... ... do you slap Babys in the face? Jake -
I posted this link before: http://jonathancase.net/2013/05/

Interesting.. Which Wacom pen do you use, the standard or the feel and with microsft keyboard? I must say the new surface pro 2 looks pretty intriguing as a wacom mobile replacement for illustration work. Seems selling starts just today.

A real masterpiece!!! How did you make that carsmoke? . Jost -
You can stay with the late CS 6 and switch to Manga Studio 5. Better then photoshop for illustrators and much cheaper: http://jonathancase.net/2013/04/ A little more down that link....

Hi Sebastion, Great style you have achieved again! As for the videoplayability...... (It should be a nogo, that I canot watch the Videos on this Forum on my i-pad!!!) ...I found a great new tool a html5 videoplayer: http://html5box.com/ Ist free and under GNU Licence and really, really easy to implement on your Websites. I just installed it and you can watch it in Action on my Website. No more compatibilityproblems! Fantastic -
I don.t know. Maybe its worth some more trying. My son plays "Clash of clans" on the i-pad and many times, if he gets stuck, he ask me to buy some jewls for him. And I go : well o.k. If it doesnt cost that much, here you go. From that expierience: make your clips of wobbling dead about 3 minutes long and available for free with cliffhangers and just charge evry third episode or so with a very small amount lets say 1.99 € and see what happens. Maybe have a look at Vimeo at other peoples offers and if and how they work. You still are quite a pioneer on this terrain. Good luck!

Hi Mark, How about vimeo and their pay per view channel? Would this be an option for you?
-
What software do you use for recording?

I agree with the costume, that is looking better also the pirates blackhat. The pale skin of Henrietta was great, a bit evil, a bit sophisticated, aristocratic like lady of that period, which avoided the sun, though it might not be realistic taking her profession in acount. Change is a normal development. I do agree and I don´T want to discourage you in that, just sharing my opinion, what I personally would prefer. Keep up your great work. Overall I am a big fan of your style1 cheers Jake

Hi Mark, Im afraid, i dont like that new style too much. Especially Lady Henriettas face is going somehow from classy to bimbo, A bit like Meg Ryan after surgery crudley said blown lips and too much suntan. Theres some danger you might loose your great simplicity, reduction and clearness I always loved on your style , also on the dr. For instance. Sorry , but thats just my personal taste. Instead of adding textures I would love your style with Maxwell like material rendering improvements... Though thats hardly possible for the time being. All the best Jake

...and don`t forget about the social component. Especially for young people starting into the world , it might be more important to make friends and find people you can learn together with and from each other and socialize, then actual learning the stuff offered by the school. As you said: nowadays you can fill up most kowledgegaps online, you can try this with personal realationship to some amount as well ,but you could never substitute an actual personal relationships.

Why sit on a beach, when you are still fumbling with your mobile "office"? You have got to get offline once in a while for healthreasons... -
Super! Sieht toll aus und ist sehr schön animiert!

Very nice walkloop! Theres still a Little snap in the right arm and I would intensify the shoulder and pelvis tilt a bit more to emphasize her weight. Wish I could do walkloops that good though...

How about doing a highres obj export and do the fixes and stl in meshlab. It is also free, I believe....

That look is really very nice!!! Sorry, I can`t tell you anything to do better here.... Jost

That IS realistic...

Love that final washed out look and the speedtrap. I just would make that truck much bigger in relation to that puppet...

Hi Fuchur, Thank you for clarifing things to me. When I see examples of peoples work with differentp hysical renderers, I also notice huge differences in looks and quality. Is this due to huge differences between software or could that outstanding quality I see with Maxwell or Arnold especially in the cartoonlook sector also be achieved with the other programms? Maybe its a question of eachs specific materialsystem?
