Ed I remember seeing that when you posted previously. Sim Cloth seems to be working beautifully there, except for the lack of shadow.

I haven't got 12 yet! This will teach me to stop dragging my heels. You,ve got be tooled up, man! Cutting edge. All the latest features! Well ... two capes, seven seconds. I feel some dynamic bones coming on.

So, has anyone figured out cloth yet? I have an animation to finish off for someone else and cloth is holding me up right now. I don't want to spend too much longer messing with it to hopefully discover the magic formula. I have made a simple test object with a cape and tested cloth sim in A:M versions 10.5, 11.0t and 11.1f. I still can't get collision detection to work. Any clues? This is pretty urgent! In the attached movie the top two tests are done in 10.5 and 11.0t. The bottom two are both in 11.1f. As you can see collision detection doesn't appear to be working. Does anyone have it working?

Dearmad I think that dance looks beautiful. You are very fortunate to have the disciplined eye of a real ballet dancer at your service. Think what you could do with a mo-cap rig? You could do a whole ballet. Someone's going to do it, it may as well be you and your wife. I love seeing the progress of your short. -

Hmmm. Looks like you need an environment map or a skydome so that the car's surface has something to reflect. -

Beautiful work, Chris! How about a beautiful still-life composition of mask, epee and gloves with some atmospheric lighting. Or fencers in action. Then of course you will have to wait for a suitable topic.

Love it! I've watched it about 30 times and I still have a big smile on my face. Very cute and engaging character. The singing and the swinging foot are hilarious to me. It probably helps that I don't have a clue what he is singing and talking about. Is that Russian? It sounds like Italian to me. I am also intrigued by the green splash. Is that done in A:M using refraction to distort the image behind or is it done in After Effects? Also, I may be looking too deep but, there seems to be a subliminal 'E' shape in that green water as it slides down the camera lens. Great work! Please post more of your work.

I love everything that you have been posting here, Christina! You are very talented and very commited. There is just something about the father's walk that bothers me. I don't know if he is lifting his knees too high or whether it is the way the legs seem to snap forward or if he needs to bend his knees a little whn the weight is shifted onto the front leg. Not sure. Anyway, everything else is just wonderful!

Joel I agree with all the above. Fantastic, moody picture with lots going for it. The moon does seem a bit too crisply defined but, hey, there's no atmosphere to distort the view so who knows. Anyway, you got one of my votes. Well done! -

Yes, nice image! I like the other ones too. Maybe a tiny space shuttle or space walkers in front of this, umm ...laser cannon? Anything recognisable that can be used as a reference of scale.

Feet, hands and shoulders will be reworked. I never finished them. I want them to have large feet but perhaps they are a little too big at the moment, especially the heels. Cheers -

She does a little but ... have you ever seen a fairy? Maybe that's why. The final render will be from a different viewpoint so what you are seeing here is not the planned composition. Yes, she does a bit. I will make certain that she looks more secure in the final pic. Don't forget that she's not human though. I agree and I disagree on the cropping. Tightly cropped images ensure the attention is not lost on the background but these are faires. They are small and they can blend into the background. To crop too close would remove the few references to scale that remain. I am glad that you are curious as to what has caught their attention. Thank you all for your interest and taking the time to comment. Some good points made and hopefully I'll have them covered in the final image. I should get to spend some time on it tomorrow. -
I like him/her, Frank. Looks like the results of a relationship between a dinosaur, Mr. Ed and a mop. It's a cute character and looks like it will be fun to animate. I'll be watching to see how you get on with this. Have fun.

I like him, very much! The only critisism that I can make is that I would like to see his moustache have a bit of flow to it but, I gather, that will come after he's rigged. Good work.

Thanks, Tony! I intend to get back to this image very soon and will post when I have made some improvements. Colin, thanks for the compliment but I hardly think so. I'm doing my best to keep your shelves from collapsing under the weight of trophies but you've gotta be in it to win it. That is a very interesting effect that you have used in your entry this time. When the voting is finished I would really like to hear more about your entry, particularly the landscape. Brilliant! -
I'll say it just one more time: If we had a forum that catered exclusively to contests/competitions we could have clear rules/guidlines pinned to the top, topics for each competition, countdowns, links for references and inspiration, follow-up discussions, etc. This would stop contest announcements from getting buried in the General Forum and would be more likely to attract interest and may even inspire some folk. If contest rules are easy to find then fluctuating them from contest to contest is also more of an option, just so long as you can be sure that everyone has read them. More contests, please, but with an easy to find home.

Yeah! Go for it, Chris! Nancy, thanks for the kind words. Everything else you say is correct. In the final shot the focal point is high and just off of centre and everything cascades down from there. The little white flowers were put together quickly and I haven't gone back to add some of nature's randomness yet. -
Hi I ran out of time to get my entry in for the Sci-Fi/Fantasy contest. I'm still going to finish it so I thought I would post a detail from a different camera angle and ask for critiques. It's the only way I am going to get past the likes of Mr. Talbot and Mr. Freeman. I'll save the final view for some other time. I need to tweak the models and the rigging quite a bit more to get rid of some of that creasing and the lighting is currently producing some unsightly patches so I will have to play with that too. Anyway feel free to comment. Cheers

That's a great character but the chin is too young compared with the rest of the face. Nice work, though.
