another rough idea fluid material
pixelplucker replied to johnl3d's topic in Tinkering Gnome's Workshop
That is pretty cool. I need to fiddle with the fluids, might be a good way to see a mold cavity fill. Will fluids see the surfaces of props? -
Help Us Hash, Inc needs new polos

Better suppliers than VistaPrint, they offshore their work to the islands to dodge taxes. Artwork as vector pdf works the best for digitizing. You risk getting lousy stitch-outs if you leave it to the embroiderer to auto trace the art. Usual screen printed left chest is 4x4 max and embroidery you can go 3 1/2 x 3 /12 unless it's going on a pocket then you should keep it under 2 1/2 wide -
Has anyone checked out the new Asus Vivotab Note 8? I know it's a little small but it runs Win8 and has a Wacom stylus. Wondering if it's any good. Amazon sells it for $229 for the 64gb version.

Correct Normals plugin crashes on 18g
pixelplucker replied to pixelplucker's topic in Animation:Master
I figured it was the internal faces, probably not necessarily a bug but my chintzy modeling. -

Here's the file that crashed AM on Correct Normals plug kitchen chair.mdl -
Correct Normals plugin crashes on 18g

Might be some internal faces causing the error, had some extrusions I was lazy about. Thanks -
Happy Birthday!

Had a model I tried to unify normals on (in front view right click mouse and choose wizards, correct normals) and Hash dies on me. Anyone else have this?

I was thinking about bitmap plus in conjunction with it also. Wonder if it's worth it for just making the image sets tile-able? Kind of wish AM could use PSD files that have layers, make a layer for diffuse one for bump, etc. Then within AM simply chose the layer for the appropriate channel. Maybe I'm just getting lazy in my old age and hate digging through my folders of stuff.

Saw this and looks pretty handy but wondering how well it would integrate with AM http://www.allegorithmic.com/products/bitmap2material Maybe use it in conjunction with Bitmap Plus plugin?

Same results here too.

If you want to post a test model I can check it here and see if it's an Nvidia specific issue.

Hmm Hair displays properly in OGL and OGL3 here but recently changed to ATI. Wonder if it's an Nvidia update that might have nerfed it? Did you guys recently update the Nvidia drivers when this started?

Long time ago Electric Image solved some of the speed issues in rendering radiosity by baking it in the objects. Something that might be possible with SSS, reflections etc. in AM. If I remember right you build the model, baked the attributes and you were able to animate and when render time came the info was pretty much done. Baking might work with GPU's.

"I can't draw" - Let's deal with this myth once and for all

I can do just about anything except make money... -
If they over act do they pass out? Wasn't one of the Seinfeld shows that had the hand model bit?
-
Yup, plug in is included now and was just a right mouse click away... go figures.

I see Steffan had made one for 15.f and it seems to work fine in 18! http://www.sgross.com/plugins/plugin17/index.html Didn't think the older plugs would work, guess some do.

Deformation tools for imported props and ability to decal props would be nice. Also like to see imported object be uses as reference in retopo within the model room rather than a choreography (load a model like a rotoscope or something similar). Just make things easier.

Is there a way of measuring objects in AM besides the rulers? Transform and info and manipulator properties only show percentages. Can't remember if there was a plug-in for that or not.
-
They probably never heard of Hash Animation Master, simple cease letter would make them change the name I'm sure. There is a blatant knock off the the Form1 and MakerBot printers. The Form1 knock off even starts up with the Form1 logo! Lots of stealing these days, makes me wonder if I should even bother with any patent's, just seams to be lawyer fodder and probably not worth the fight.

How to convert files to STL format for 3-D Printer (v13)
pixelplucker replied to simpleyork's topic in Open Forum
If the printer can't handle an obj file direct you can always get a converter such as Meshlabs. Here is a pic of an obj I exported from AM and imported into my 3d printer software along with an stl I made from the obj that I converted in Meshlabs. Orientation and models are both perfect. -
Even Better! Little product to save the life of tablets and Cintiq's

How to convert files to STL format for 3-D Printer (v13)
pixelplucker replied to simpleyork's topic in Open Forum
Typically an issue with AM models is closing the surfaces, usually this is a big problem but as software advances it becomes less of an issue. Definitely upgrade to the newest if you can. AM has come a long way. The particular software I use that came with my 3d printer can red in obj files as well as stl and it has what so far is a superb repair tool which will close and correct faces. As a quick test I made 2 primitives from AM, a cube and sphere, usually spheres and lathe objects don't close or have caps. Usually cp's are just set close to make it look closed. The repair tool was able to fix this with a simple click on import. If anyone has a file that had issues I wouldn't mind running it through the software to see how much it can repair. Wasn't too long ago fixing faces was a major headache. -
Thats pretty cool.
