  1. Haven't been doin much 3d work but did stumble across this ai texture generator. Figured if you guys didn't already know about it you may find it useful. https://withpoly.com/browse/textures Happy holidays, Ken
  2. No patch for error loading files from a nas? Seemed long file path names crashed v19 when trying to load a prj. I had posted in bug reports. Ended back with the cd version. Thanks
  3. What the ai can do is goal seek and solve moves that can be tedious such as having a character automatically volley over a wall or jump over an obstacle. It still would need to have user input to direct the actions. I could see that being useful and even do real time simulation. Put it in context with presentations of architecture where you can have crowds moving around in and around structures. When I see the AI generated art if you want to call it that it is more randomly generated imagery that is based off of key words and tend to lack composition. So if a customer requested an illustration or painting it would be a scatter gun approach to find something they like. It also loses the value of the labor and skill and cheapens the industry. AI art mimics what was already done in style and applies it with from words physical input. Has it's place but probably a longer shot than we anticipate for the arts.
  4. You can't anticipate what the ai will come up with for an image so I doubt it will replace artists in that sense. Benefits of much of the new tech is it can bring real time content creation within reach of ordinary and small shops. Look at the new Unreal Engine and Meta Human. Would be nice to have AM be able to use the Unreal engine as a real time renderer.
  5. Program just quits out if I open from NAS drive. If I copy the prj over to local drive it opens fine. Think we narrowed it down to file path was too long when I first got 19p.
  6. Will opening files over network be fixed? In particular files that reside in a long file path. Causes crash here when I access them to my network drive.
  7. I had my retired brother who was in IT since the 80's take a look and he figured it out. I'm more of take a hammer to it kind of guy
  8. I believe it was the long file path name that caused it. Mapping the drive seemed to have solved it.
  9. Well copied all my files over to local c drive. I can open some of the mdl files but some crash AM. I cannot open any of the prj files without it crashing. Files created in the new version seem to open and save fine locally. Here is the error from the event viewer: Faulting application name: Master_64.exe, version: 19.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x6085510c Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.19041.789, time stamp: 0x2bd748bf Exception code: 0xc0000409 Fault offset: 0x0000000000071208 Faulting process id: 0x1b70 Faulting application start time: 0x01d78ec7bc4479ef Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Hash Inc\V19.0\Master_64.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\ucrtbase.dll Report Id: 492b889d-88e0-443b-97e4-6935c1611945 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
  10. No dump file Tried running as admin and still quits. I can't even open or import files over from the nas or it dumps out. So for now I'm copying all the textures and models over to the local drive. Very strange but leave it to me to break something lol.
  11. Nas stays on if that is what you mean. I don't know why AM 19.p is the only program I have that poops out when saving to it. Benefit of the NAS is I can access files over my network from different computers, ie create a cad file on one, pick up the stl on another to upload to 3d printer etc. An external hd has to be mounted and unmounted and moved computer to computer. Is there a log created if AM just quits out without an error message? If so maybe I can post that.
  12. I can't even just save out a mdl, it just quits out. My CD version 15 saves over the network just fine.
  13. Thought I posted a save bug but not showing. I have my work on a nas drive and unable to save directly to it from AM. If I do try AM just quits out without any error report. Possible permissions bug? Suggestions to fix?
  14. Working on a gadget that offsets the weight and transfers the force to the root. So my thought is to make a sweep like this wire sample with bones as shown then see if it reacts like the real world object. This would save me time and give me options to fiddle fart with proportions and offsets etc. If you bend a wire as shown you will see how it can hang straight out, more force the more stable it becomes. Something used in rigging when lifting objects up buildings.
  15. Can you simulate cantelevers in AM with the bullet physics?
  16. STL files only support single closed mesh geometry. An obj can have multiple mesh's in the same file. So unless you can make the model in one piece with 0 errors you may be better off with an obj.
  17. STL files are good for the single continuous geometry. When there are multiple objects and shapes that intersect then obj files work better for some slicing software. I remember formlabs software that uses meshlabs would cause grooves where you may have co-planer faces on the prints. Other oddities was hollows where shapes intersected each other. Obj format it was repairable within the application. Anyways if possible just make a clean model without errors if possible.
  18. Hold down Shift+Control and this will bring up the install to install/repair it. Holding down just Control and launching the program will bring up a prompt so you can reset aspects to the program.I I have Open CL off in my preferences when running it on my i5 laptop with Intel HD graphic display and it runs fine.
  19. That is really sad news. Big loss, loved his animations and had a great style. My condolences to his family.
  20. That's a good deal on the licensing. Not sure if there is any path from AM to FBX, there might be some 3rd party utilities you may have to hop through. I stopped way back when they changed over to Maya for content creation.
  21. I had done animations a very long time ago for the Unreal engine. I used 3ds Max at the time and there was a plug-in to do just that. Not sure if you can import direct x files into the Unreal engine or not but you can look into Garagegames Torque engine. It is a little dated but last I checked it accepted direct x files. The Unreal engine isn't all that tough to work in but I found it unstable. Way back I used to make 3d models of my map bases in a poly modeler preferably one that supported quads, exported an obj file and used that geometry to subtract my map from the world. I believe the licensing for Unreal is pretty high if you plan on making a retail game.
  22. Does not work on my laptop at all, can only access the options in the calendar date drop down. Used to be able to do that prior to the last updates. I think that Windows programmers are dumbing down the systems so much they become cumbersome to get anything done. Sad day when the OS get's in the way of production. I would go back to Mac if their OS updates didn't nerf every program I purchase on such a consistent basis. Too bad Unix and Linux are so limted when it comes to programs written for them and driver support on harware is pretty poor.
