Dpendleton77
Looks interesting. I wonder if they will have this out on the Android market soon?
largento
WOW! Getting it now! [EDIT] Just made a tree, exported it to my Dropbox, brought it into a cho as a prop and it worked perfectly! This is a godsend!
largento
Well, spoke too soon. The tree prop comes in looking right, but doesn't render anywhere close to the same. Still, the export saves a hi-rez png file with transparency, which is how I've been doing my trees lately anyway, so it's still a win. Making trees in seconds is just amazing. John Bigboote
Wait a minute... what's the snag with the prop? This needs to WORK! Can you post the model file you made?
Admin Rodney Posted June 12, 2013 Admin Share Posted June 12, 2013 That's pretty amazing. More videos... demos of the previous versions: [vimeo]27366282[/vimeo]

Simon Edmondson
Damn. I've been resisting the idea of an Ipad but that, if it works with AM, and the Animators Survival Kit, may start to make the case irresistible ! simon

higginsdj
Bugger - doesn't work on my original iPad
John Bigboote
Has anyone else tested the file? Havent yet. Looks like the old UVs are not finding their way... right? The leaves look great tho. (according to the images you posted.)
largento
Okay, so I tried a different route. I used the OBJ importer to bring another tree I made into a model file. It seems to work: I did have to go into the decals and change the leaf images to be cookie cutter, but other than that, it seems to work fairly well. zandoriastudios
I haven't got a chance to try in A:M, but tried in Vray--I had to load the leaf.png twice, using it for diffuse color and for transparency. The .mtl file may not be referencing the map twice (which is an easy fix in a text editor)
zandoriastudios
The .mtl file is a little weird...writing all the properties out in one line. it does look like it is loading the image as diffuse color and as transparency (d)...I'll make time to play with this and see if I can figure out. The layer object using the .png image is probably the best way to use if you don't need to be up close #Tree Created using TreeSketch 3.0 newmtl branches Ka 0.2 0.2 0.2 Kd 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ks 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ns 5.0 illum 2 map_Kd Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMBark.png newmtl leaves Ka 0.2 0.2 0.2 Kd 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ks 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ns 5.0 illum 2 d 0.99999 map_Kd Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMLeaf.png map_d Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMLeaf.png
mtpeak2
Pretty cool app. Made a few trees, but didn't try getting it into A:M yet. Nice find, Will!
Admin Rodney Posted June 13, 2013 Admin Share Posted June 13, 2013 My daughter downloaded the app and we had fun playing with it for about an hour. Pretty impressive.

largento
It does take a little while for it to load and you'll see the beach ball. If you wait, it should work. I tried both versions myself. Difference was that v16 didn't ask for maps. The prop came in as a white tree with rectangular leaves. I'm going to go with the png files. They render much faster and don't have the uv mapping problem.

itsjustme
Looks very cool. I looked for an iPad emulator that would work with iPad apps, but still no luck.
