Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted November 9, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted November 9, 2011 That's too bad, but he had a long run. For someone doing what he did he pretty much hit the wave just right.

largento
Sad to hear that. Here's a picture of the real Keane family back in the day:
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted November 10, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted November 10, 2011 Man, I can't believe I spelled "circus" wrong in the subtitle! For years I read the title as "Family Circle", I guess because it was in a circle.
John Bigboote
Yeah, too bad! A great comic strip! Wow- that family picture is REALLY like my family picture from that era... we had 6 kids. I would like to think he lived a long, fulfilling life, doing work that he loved that made many people smile on a daily basis.

Robert, it was in fact called "Family Circle" for many years until they were sued by the magazine of that name and changed the title. Not sure when that happened, maybe mid-60's or so. But your mind's not going, just so's you know!
Admin Rodney Posted November 10, 2011 Admin Share Posted November 10, 2011 It's fairly easy to pick out the now legendary Disney animator Glen Keane in that photo. His face still looks the same. And that's quite a happy family! I was always drawn into the Family Circus cartoons but always wished they could escape outside that circle into longer sequential stories. My favorites were the ones where Billy or one of the others would wander around and you'd have to follow the dotted line to see where he'd gone adventuring.
