Man, I can't believe I spelled "circus" wrong in the subtitle!

 

For years I read the title as "Family Circle", I guess because it was in a circle.

Robert, it was in fact called "Family Circle" for many years until they were sued by the magazine of that name and changed the title. Not sure when that happened, maybe mid-60's or so. But your mind's not going, just so's you know!

It's fairly easy to pick out the now legendary Disney animator Glen Keane in that photo. His face still looks the same. And that's quite a happy family!

 

I was always drawn into the Family Circus cartoons but always wished they could escape outside that circle into longer sequential stories. My favorites were the ones where Billy or one of the others would wander around and you'd have to follow the dotted line to see where he'd gone adventuring.
