largento
You can read about UHDTV here and here and here. Luckily, we still have a few years to get ready for it, since it isn't expected to launch before 2016. :-)

Darkwing
It's like the new projectors in the works, the 4 and 7k (which apparently are so mindboggling clear, that your eyes will fall out)
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 21, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted October 21, 2011 And I bet after it's introduced we'll still see studies still showing most people can't tell the difference.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 21, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted October 21, 2011 And I bet after it's introduced we'll still see studies still showing most people can't tell the difference. I predict it will flop. Rather like Blu-ray hasn't caught fire.
*A:M User* Roger Posted October 21, 2011 *A:M User* Share Posted October 21, 2011 I would be willing to bet part of the impetus behind the development of this tech is to make pirating digital movies take a long time. In an era of cheap multi-megabit connections, to download a 1080p HD movie doesn't take that long. When you are talking about something with many times the resolution of 1080P HD, if it takes a week to download on a typial home broadband connection, piracy is not so attractive. I don't see much point going beyond 4k resolution, myself.
Fuchur
We recently made test with a film-projection in a cinema. We used 1080p and 720p-resolutions and projected them on the big screen. Nobody of the audience noticed the difference, not even compared to 4k-resolution-films and nobody was in any way upset about the quality. I really dont think that a resolution like thatt is somehow needed. I even doubt that 4k-displays will sell very well. People got HD-displays recently and most will not buy a display in the next year(s). Till 2016 is a little time, but I think these display will cost some money too... See you *Fuchur*
