John Bigboote Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Thats a great 'silly' style... are you working from a sketch or making up as you go. Try to keep that style thing going. Fun! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 23, 2011 Hash Fellow Posted January 23, 2011 Careful, you might start being a modeler! Quote
johnl3d Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Saw a monkey image on internet and trying to replicate what I saw ....so far seems to working ...the hands and feet will be the next really hard part I think ..and a few small detail like the nose holes etc. Not sure about becoming a modeler but figured I should try again... johnl3d Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 got a body and start of arms and legs ..no tail yet also did a quick "color" version..body needs shaping but will wait to hands and feet and tail are in place thanks for the comments Quote
TheSpleen Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I think it's great I suggest bigger ears Quote
johnl3d Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 getting closer tail and tweaks adding and adjusting splines then rig and ""decorate" Quote
johnl3d Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 Now to tweak shape and many a few details then rig and get the right look. I thinking of rigging legs and feet as second set of arms/hands since they will be used different then regular legs any ideas welcome on model rigging etc Quote
Meowx Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Can we get a side view of the splinage where the mouth/nose bit connects to the head? Quote

I thinking of rigging legs and feet as second set of arms/hands since they will be used different then regular legs any ideas welcome on model rigging etc I would approach the legs/feet as normal legs with hands on the end...then tweak the fingers to move like toes as well. HomeSlice Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 The legs will probably be easier to rig if they are not as widely spread. All that is necessary is that no part of the legs touch, which isn't even a requirement, it just makes it easier to select the right CPs when assigning bones and weighting. I have never modeled the hands facing forward like that. I have always modeled them with the palms facing down, but I guess the way you modeled them would be fine. Quote
Tore Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 May I propose longer arms and shorter legs, to make him less teddy bear like. Found a photo of the danish designer Bojesen's wooden monkeys for inspiration :-) Quote
johnl3d Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Good suggestions everyone will do some tweaking as time allows okay so far rotated hands ,straighten legs , some other small tweaks Quote
johnl3d Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 getting closer have to add some color / decal detail Quote
johnl3d Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Any suggestions on which rig to use on this ....an area that usually take awhile at least for me now with a little color Quote
itsjustme Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Any suggestions on which rig to use on this ....an area that usually take awhile at least for me now with a little color I think you should use TSM2. The Squetch Rig has some add-ons for hand-like feet and tail, but the installation tutorials aren't out yet and you would have to know more than if you used TSM2. Quote
johnl3d Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 This may take sometime so I threw in a couple of bones and added a sound just for fun quicktrial.mov Quote
John Bigboote Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Very good, John... I would recommend throwing a TSM2 rig into him... it will even add an intuitive boning structure to the tail... Quote
johnl3d Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Played a little with the TSM and rigging decided will need a little more time than I have in one evening will also have to add a few more things to the model so he can blink his eyes and get a mouth control but for your enjoyment from this rough attempt here is something to watch 1stattempttorigwithtsm.mov simple action repeated 3 times while rotating model which will explain the jerking wiggling some bones into place with the rig not as easy as I remember ................................... found out what I was doing wrong getting close now Quote
johnl3d Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Almost there just some fine "tooning" and /or tweaking new8e.mov Thanks for watchiing Quote
