His path seems awefully direct. Either the thrower is really really strong and amazingly accurate, or someone's bending the laws of physics :P

Beside that it looks very nice!

Looks good.

The straight path is a little distracting (maybe it needs just a little arc to it IMHO), but I think the Lamp post needs to flex a little bit on impact.

Just my 2 cents

I think that for what this excecise is, it works really well.

The straight path comments and flight speed arent really necessary or helpful in

this case, but you have to expect to get that stuff.

The impact and how he reacted was the meat and potatoes here....

But for what its worth, it looks to me like he's one of them superhero's

who don't know how to fly yet:)

Thanks for the comments! :)

In the process of animating it, I realized that an arc path would look better, I just ran out of time. I will go back and try to fix it. Also, I wanted to show him hit the ground, but did not have enough time. I'm just trying to animate simple actions. I set a time limit and then work like crazy. Once the time is up, I hit render. I had 45 minutes for this exercise.

I will get back to it to refine the motion soon.

Thanks again, your input is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I added some arc to his trajectory.

Yep. You just know instinctively when you get that "yeah, that's the way it should look" feeling.

(I think it was Renoir, the painter, who was asked how he knew when he got a girl's cheek right. He replied, "When I get the urge to pinch.")

Now you need to add lamppost flexing. And then, the actor should have arms and legs flailing when flying, and bounce off the pole a little, and realize he's falling and wrap arms and legs around it.

I know, nitpick nitpick nitpick. But yer gonna have a really nice animation when yer done. God is in the details.
