agep Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 After i finished the model of the Norwegian searescuevessel: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10846 I started on a BIG project. The Images and the trailer is a bit outdated (from early december), but gives a clue of how I'm doing. I'll be grateful for any comment Just love AM (startet with AM october 2004) Trailer TROTG testrender (added 28.Jan.05) test (wmv) test (mov) Some screenshots: Have made every model myself from scratch except for the bouilding (heavily modified free model) the free model: Quote
paulmcg1 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Looks similar to Jeff Lew's Killerbean short in a way. Like it though Paul Quote
jamagica Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 hey! That building is on the CD for the Guide to animation master! Quote
agep Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 I found the building on the free model section on hash. It's a part of the streetblock Quote
jamagica Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 it's a great free model, too...good luck with your movie..I have some suggestions about your trailer, though. The walk is a bit robotic and linear...add some arch movements to your character... Quote
Paul Forwood Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Hey, that looks cool! You are certainly climbing the learning curve. Quote
agep Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 thanx The walk is a bit robotic and linear...add some arch movements to your character I know. the trailer i actually just based on a testrender Quote
starwarsguy Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Looks like you've put some work into this. It looks beautiful! Quote
agep Posted January 22, 2005 Author Posted January 22, 2005 the screenshots are updated a bit anyone have any ideas how to improve the city? should I use volumetirc on the streetlights? Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 looking good dude! *secret encrypted norwegian message* liker fuglen, får vi se han i full film snart? Quote
starwarsguy Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Volumetric is always good in movies like this! Actually, looking at the pic of the machine putting his suit on, it reminds me alot of Wallace and Grommit. Quote
agep Posted January 22, 2005 Author Posted January 22, 2005 Actually, looking at the pic of the machine putting his suit on, it reminds me alot of Wallace and Grommit You are not the first one to say that But when I made it I had not seen Wallace and Grommit... do anyone have good settings for volumetric? Quote
starwarsguy Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Just experimenting. That'll get the best result for what YOU want. Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 I have done a testrender. Should I use depth of field? does depth of field increase or decrease the rendering time? used jeff lew's tut for the muzzleflame and bullettrail. the 7sec render tok 39 hours (15min pf)!!!! test (wmv) I'llbe grateful for any comments Quote
jesshmusic Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 The lighting on the character in the stills are a little too dark. I notice you are going for a night scene, but the character looks like he is in the background, not the foreground. I think a little ambient light in the scene may solve the problem, but I don't have much experience in lighting night scenes. Modeling looks great! ...one tiny suggestion.... If it is at all possible render your animations as AVIs or Quicktime Movies so everyone can see them....please. Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 It's nice to have such a talented NORWEGIAN among us and I think your birdie looks GREAT. Wish I was as good as you. It was a bit stiff, but I liked the way he did the "wall-walk-backflip"-thing Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 It's nice to have such a talented NORWEGIAN among us and I think your birdie looks GREAT. Wish I was as good as you. Thanks (TUSEN TAKK) *blushing* It was a bit stiff I know, I am incompetent of making smooth actions! If it is at all possible render your animations as AVIs or Quicktime Movies so everyone can see them....please. here is one QuickTime Movie version: test (mov) Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I know, I am incompetent of making smooth actions! What do you thin *I* am? you gotta start somewhere and I think you've just about started the best place. Know a coupple of other norwegians using AM(two, actually) and one has made a CLOCK so faar and the other a flower... and that's just about the norwegian hashers I've heard about(luckely they don't use the forum, so they can't see what I type about them *njakk njakk* ) when do you think you'll be done? Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 when do you think you'll be done? In a few moths hopefully.. 2 moths to prepare the short (some modelling and choreography left to do), then I have the rendering to do. Have estimated that the rendering will take about 7weeks (and thats for a 3min short), Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 s...se...seve...seven WEEKs?!?! dude! you need a new puter!! 7 weeks, for Buddhas sake!! jiiiz, or atleast close down all the adult-movie dl's while you're rendering! 7 weeks... you sure you didn't just misspell days VERY bad? Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 7 weeks, for Buddhas sake!! jiiiz, 14min per frame at this point (with multipass off) testrender: test (mov) I'll be grateful for any comments Quote
Sharky Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Hi Agep, I want to see more... I like your music, what is this song? Please upload this full music too! Cheers... Sharky Quote
KenH Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Just looked in on this. An ambitious project! On the test renders when he jumps off the wall, you should pull his hips down closer to his knees and that will give him spring. Also, you should hold it for about half a second to give anticipation. Good work so far! Are you trying for the I AM short competition? Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 Thanks for the tip KenH Are you trying for the I AM short competition? I AM??? Quote
pixelmech Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Love the trailer! The bullet time effect is great Looking forward to seeing more. Great job on the kitchen cabinets. Quote
ChrisThom Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Nice for the most part, what I can see. It's actually, really dark so it's hard to make out. Also, with all respect, the whole bullet time thing is so 1999. Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 It's actually, really dark I've noticed some say that.... but I belive my monitor are adjusted with normal brightness.... and I can see the picures and the movies clearly.... On the last rendertest i also increased the light a bit.. Quote
Roughy Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 i cant imagine how you got that thing to run 14min for one frame. you got exactly the same specs as me (better vga card tho). if it was 14min per frame if you were running multipasses, then it would be acceptable, but without....somethings definetly wrong. what res you rendering to? Quote
jamagica Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Your run is a bit robotic...there should be some bend in his body when running...or at least bend the knees..it'd be a pain to run without bending your legs...other than that, it's great P.S. how'd you create the bullet-time effect Quote
agep Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 what res you rendering to PAL (720*576)... P.S. how'd you create the bullet-time effect I made a static bullettrail with cylindrical materialeffectors that gradually reveals and hides the trail.. the bullettrail uses refraction, and the materialeffectors use transparency.. Like Jeff Lew did it Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 As I said: I love EVERYTHING I see in all of your test flicks, but his movement is still stiff... Im no expert, but I think you could easely make a cute walkcycle that would look a lot better and like some mentioned before: his knees! they need to bend more. that's all I can come up with Quote
