  1. So, to say things have been chaotic is an understatement. But I will say coming to the computer and getting away from the world has been a blessing tonight. I have worked on Hans and have created a hybrid rig from Barry Zundel's rig, David Simmon's Squetch Rig, Mack Chappell's Saucy rig and a little of Robert Holmen's ideas and my own. I have just about half the rig in place and about 40% weighted. I am getting Ready for the motion capture contest.
  2. The last 4-5 weeks included a trip WDW and then work at a part time facility turn into overtime. Mix in two weeks of tooth ache followed by oral surgery, a little dash of flu with a pinch utter fatigue and don't forget an ear infection that lasted 4 weeks. I have done nothing except watch a few animation videos. I did tweak my old man slightly. But now that I have decided to move forward and feeling better
  3. We made it back from a trip to WDW. Came back feeling exhausted so I slept in this morning and this evening started back on AM. worked a little on several things. Finished the grumpy man's body and clothes
  4. Just a little more belt buckle and loops
  5. Not much progress tonight was out of pocket today. Just socks and shoes.
  6. Robert leads the Saturday live answer time, Sean. Check out his link in his signature. alot of great information and help is given! Welcome back!! Steve
  7. He really is top heavy! Here are a few more shots
  8. Robert That is the results I was getting as well when I tested. That is wonderful results!! The video card will be mailed by this weekend as well. Steve
  9. I saw a hand drawn character several years ago that I always thought would translate to 3d. I have tried to recreate what I saw but of course put my spin on things. Here is one that took a couple of evenings to create.
  10. Well Here you go Intel I9 12900 with 32 gigs of ddr5 all NVMe drives Samsung 980s. This is the 2009 bench mark 47 seconds a frame. I am rendering the 2017 benchmark now and should have results shortly. I redid the AMD 5950x and got 59 secs to 1:01 per frame.
  11. Is the store down? I was going to add hash and it appears with an error page not working http error 500
  12. Today I rolled to Windows 11. All the software I use now has been update or already ran under 11. So I decided to redo the Teapot benchmark. I am official under 1 minute now. 58-59 per frame. Unfortunately I did not save a copy of the screen shot. this is with the AMD 5950X processor. Tonight I will test the teapot with the I9 12900k machine I just finished building. Loading all the software and will post the results once I have it all completed. Steve
  13. Good to see you back. Robert and David are excellent guides in AM. I have this community has a home feeling. Ask away!!
  14. After frame 59 all rendering stopped. the pool appeared to be rendering but the each frame after 59 loaded and would not proceed. I finally killed the project and will let Robert know.
  15. So each frame is taking about 25-26.5 minutes to render. I am not sure what Robert said it took with his computer but this has taxed this computer the most of any projects I have rendered and this is only in vga resolution.
  16. Robert asked me to render the projects with the AMD 5950x 16 cores, 32 gigs of RAM, all drives are NVMe samsung 980s with a rtx 2060 Right off the bat the two cores would not render even though I have 70 cores for netrender. I rendered this project with a single core and each frame took about 19 minutes. I will update the info as the rendering goes forward. I shot a pic of the temp of the cpu and it was holding under 40c Steve Once I get finished with this I will render the project with Intel I9 12900f (alder lake) with 32gigs and 16 cores all drives with NVMe 980s.
  17. Very nice model. Look forward to seeing the other characters!
  18. It really is amazing. so I had only 12 cores running with everything and the core temp never went above 36.5 Celsius. It took the animation of 504 frames to render in 1920 x 1080 3:25:28 I rendered the 21 sec animation with one core and temp never got above 32 Celsius it took about 8 hours but only 960 x 540. Netrender is a powerfull tool and the main thing is build the preset before you render. Hope to have the final render with cloth, hair and dynamics shortly for your review.
  19. I tested netrender on the new animation
  20. We went to see Disney's Encanto this evening. While I thought the story was charming and thought it lacked something. There were several things that caught my eye. First was the cloth simulations. Each character had multiple layers of clothing. The characters interacted with their clothing. In one of the dance scenes the main character was grabbing her skirt as she moved through the scene. I think it was one of the best cloth scenes I have seen. I soon forgot she was an animated character and enjoyed her dance moves. Second was the hair of the characters. The dynamics and look and feel was spot on. Third was the lighting of the scenes. I felt like I was in a cavern when the movie introduced the Bruno character and his tower. Or was I was in a Columbian forest when the grandmother was telling the history of the enchanted candle. All in all in was a good movie and worth the ticket price. Steve

  22. CPU Benchmark - 1:00 AMD 5950X 16 cores 32 threads 4.35 ghz 32 gb of RAM I re ran the test since it was performed while on a Zoom call.
  23. CPU Benchmark - 1:03 AMD 5950X 16 cores 32 threads 4.25 ghz 32 gb of RAM
  24. I really like the toon renders but you have created a spooky look there!
