  1. Hey MikeV, the trick to importing paths from Illustrator is they have to be saved specifically in AIv8 format. If Inkscape can save to that format it should work.
  2. Yes, nice demo! I'm sort of surprised that there's an animator that has to be convinced of the value of motion blur.
  3. I guess when I asked about Newton physics what I had in mind was object collisions. Very nice solution overall!
  4. This is your best yet, Gene! Looks like you're using some After Effects in there?
  5. Nice, Jody. do you have some Newton physics going to keep the particles inside the hole like that?
  6. Yes, and I really like the stylized face!
  7. Also, make sure the Mirror Mode button isn't on.
  8. You could do that with an action and play around with it. Really push it and see what happens. If you get the asymmetry it may very well help with the likeness. On second viewing, the eyebrows are a little weird at the inner ends the way little bits extend further. But that's the only part that doesn't look natural. The caterpillar effect doesn't bother me. On THIRD viewing, what does bother me is the pinstripes on the collar section of the lapels. Pinstripes just don't radiate out like that. Can you fix it by rotating the material?
  9. Great review Jason! Congratulations!
  10. Dang son, what everyone else said! Glad you are on the mend and back posting here. And that's a great looking project, it will be fun to see this develop.
  11. I guess I'm lucky, I don't find working alone boring in the least! So far anyway.
  12. You might want to work a little on getting it all a bit snappier, from the way the letters tumble out to the bump where the ball rolls back into the stand. You could hand-animate the letters falling and not get bogged down in Newton physics stuff if you want, but it all needs more "bounce".
  13. Funny Mark, I'm in the same low energy spot. Vicki and I had a rush of activity for several weeks and I was working day and night on "Nightcallers" and then I just hit a wall and been floundering. I blame it on Summer, the heat, the natural ebb and flow of work energy, etc. I feel like it's just starting to pass but I'm also not in a hurry to start the race again. I'm just giving it time. Very sorry to hear about your brother, also. That kind of thing is its own energy-sucker and would have an effect even without the letdown of your project ending. I also have a theory about the election season and the twists and turns political discourse seem to have taken just lately. I think people are taking a breath because no one is sure who they're supposed to be mad at anymore, but that's just how it seems from inside the NY bubble. But there's definitely a sense of inertia permeating everything. Roll with it, it'll pass and you'll be having fun one day soon and thinking, "oh yeah, THIS is what it used to feel like!"
  14. I saw this contest was announced over on Facebook and wondered if voting was open to the public? I poated a question over there last night but the post disappeared.
  15. That's a perfectly nice start David! I look forward to seeing this develop.
  16. Hm, didn't realize. I see him on Facebook and didn't notice that he's not around here so much.
  17. Have a good one Ken! Birthdays sure seem to be coming thick and fast lately!
  18. Happy Birthday! (I'd say it with a German accent but mine isn't that good).
