  5. The model looks good, but... This is just me, but I think acronyms have lost their power There are too many of them out there. I'd pursue something that uses the name in full. Unless he insists on an acronym. Then you're set.

  7. I think that turned out pretty well! [attachmentid=21338] The parts circled in red may crease because there are more than two splines going thru a CP. You could probably eliminate a hook by deleting the red splines and reattaching the blue one as in teh pic..

  9. V14 is just out in "alpha" now and I doubt they'll get to "release" before the end of the year. So i think that if you buy the 2007 CD at the end of this year it will run V13 (the current release) and whatever V14's come out during 2007.
  10. Good looking planes! If we saw some specular reflection (from the light of the sun) on them that might make them seem a bit more real. They do move a bit too spritely, more like a kite rather than a heavy plane.
  11. FWIW, that WIP movie isn't a conventional movie. It's really a series of separately rendered files concatenated (I like using that word) in QT Pro then resaved without being recompressed. So what you have is JPEG frame, movie, JPEG frame, movie... The result should be a completely legal QT file but maybe they don't have all the bugs worked out of that hip multimedia "container" thing.
  12. That probably didn't help your cause. Whether you meant it or not it's saying that the on-screen talents are the ones you respect enough to compensate and not the off screen ones. Try making a movie with just on-screen talent!
  13. I forget if V11.1 has the "good" cloth in it. I think that came later. But in any event, cloth usually needs to start far away from the surface it will drape on. Typically they will shrink the legs, let the cloth fall, thensize the legs back to normal and then start the real animation. somewhere there's a tut on that.
  14. It's the "think" method. You just render a white screen and think about animating. Well, I tried downloading it again and it seems ok. Did it fail more than once for you?

  16. I recall he made two versions of the pic in a paint program first. One regular for the background, another that used an alpha channel to cut out everything except him for the foreground. the 3D character goes in between.

I believe blue is used to indicate keyframes in muscle-mode. any chance you accidentally got into muscle mode? render to targas (instead of QT or AVI) and you will only lose the frame in progress, the others will be saved. you can pick up where you left off by setting the frame range. looks cool! What's Mr. Incredible doing in ancient egypt?

  21. The number and placement of the fan bones is surprising. Are they all constrained at different percentages? (on the hip bone for example)

  24. Not that this is a text-book example of how it should be done. If I had had a better notion of what i was going to do in this shot at the start, I would have gotten more useful work done in the initial "golden pose" stage and the breakdown stage. And that would have made the polishing easier. They talk a lot about "planning", the research and discovery stage you go through before you go into the software.
