When scaling a bone you must use a corner of the manipulator, making sure you are scaling in the XYZ axis equally. If you hover the mouse pointer over the corner, it will tell you the axis you are scaling in.

In you "priorinstallrig" model the hand and wrist bones are out of position as well. To me this looks like user error during installation, since I can't reproduce it. I've tried to duplicate your issue and can't. What verion of A:M and what OS are you using? [EDIT]This is a scaling issue. You did not scale the bones in the rig properly, which bone you scaled incorrectly, I don't know. This image tells me there were scaling issues. Somehow the hand bone is skewed as you can see from the rotate manipulator. Also, the small bones in the fingers should be 90' to the rest of the bones in the finger, this is caused by incorrect scaling. If anything, this is an A:M bug. I would suggest trying a fresh install again to see if you have the same issue, making sure you follow the directions correctly, scaling bones especially. If you still have issues, you may need to send it to A:M reports.

Cool model.

That was great Katt, I loved it. I have one copy.

Looks like santa didn't have enough cookies and milk. Very nice and Merry Christmas.

Thanks. I haven't had much time to works on this. I still have things to do to the train model, I have to remodel the front wheels to allow them to pivot as a unit so they stay on the tracks, among other things. Once I get it all done, I'll post the the train with tracks.

Thanks for the settings Mark.

Nice model, Paul. Looking forward to seeing it rigged.

Robert, reposted the clip in my last post (changed color).

Thanks everybody. Paul, the train was modeled by KenH. It's on the A:M cd, I just rigged it and made some modifications. Robert, I added the counter weight, but I'm not sure if it helps or that I even like it. train_test.mov

Thanks. It was a bit tricky with the linkage for the value. Now I'll have to get the timing right when on a path. I just need to know the length of the path, Steffen has a plugin for that, I think.

Nice. Merry Christmas!

I'll look into it Kat, thanks. Spent some time rigging the train. The rear wheels drive the rig by expressions and constraints. The rear wheel is driven with an expression by translation of a bone. This bone will be tied to the ease of the path constraint in the chor by an expression. This will keep the wheel rotation from slipping when animating the ease of the path constraint. wireframe.mov shaded.mov

What kind of textures did you use for his suit? They look great.

Wow, that was fantastic!

That looks great, Robert. The stiffer cloth looks alot better for a puppet, as you said. I'm wondering if stiffening the cloth for the sock puppet would be better as well. Socks are a little more clingy/stretchy than you have it now, it looks more like a handkerchief type cloth. -
Looks great Josh.

Thanks Paul. I'm using both. I need to play around with the light, I'm not too happy with them yet.

Thanks everyone. Robert, the tracks should be easy enough and I think there is a steam engine on one of the cd (no cars though), modeled by KenH I think. I could probably use Gerry's gingerbread house for the village. I'll see what I can do.

That works well. I'll be interested in seeing how well it works when he's animated. -

Thanks guys. Mark, unfortunely I didn't use sweeper for the ornaments, I arrange them in the chor. But, what I did was delete all model except the ornaments, deleted the lights and camera and exported as a model. Then I used that model as an action object in an action. I finally got smart and used sweeper for the lights, bows and now emitters for the tinsel (which are also action objects). I still need to arrange the emitters better for the tinsel, so they fall in a better place on the tree, but it's getting there.
