  1. yeah and make sure the mirror tool works afterwards. To cfa (copy/flipp/attach) select the centerspline and first scale the pivot to x=0, then scale the whole spline to x=0, then copy flip attach the right half of the model ( you will have to reselect five pointpatches and reattach hooks near the middle afterwards) then test the mirrortool on your controlpoints by dragging them around to check if everything worked correctly. Sorry in case you are allready familiar with that, I just like to point it out again sometimes to whomever it might concern, because I had so many difficulties with that myself.
  2. I am experimenting with encorporating different dressparts( and colors) into the same model by scaling them down in a pose and hiding them inside the body, so that I can switch from normal to superheroe just by moving the poseslider. Has anybody some expierience with this? Might this cause rendering artifacts for instance or other problems?
  3. Fuchur, You are really amazing. Every time I come up with one of my "minor" problems you come up with a fantastic video-Tut that covers exactly this Topic and gives profound help and advise. Thanks a lot again. Tschüß und nochmals tausend Dank. Jake
  4. While fumbling around with posebuilding I found that I sometimes wanted to remove certain manipulations just at a certain time, for instance some musclemanipulation of some cps just on a certain percentage . Is this possible somehow? cant find a keyframe somehow , that I could delete or are these keyframes in poses hidden somewhere deep under the "hood" ? That would mean to start all over again with a new pose, each time I would do some minor missmanipulation....
  5. Hi Fuchur, Excellent Tut, really invaluable for me!!! Solved all my problems so far. Just had do do it the otherway round. Aplied the goldmaterial first and then changed its settings in the pose to the desired flat color. The otherway it would have had to insert all the goldsettingvalues by hand. Thanks again a lot Fuchur!!! ake
  6. Tried the following: Made one group and dragged a gold-material to it, then made another new group with a surface-color underneath that goldmaterialgroup (which means its actually on top of that group) so that only that surfacecolor is visible then made a new pose percentage , where I put the surface color in the group ontop to "not set" Expecting that this would make the underlying group with the gold visible. Doesn`t seem to work that way obviously. Any other ideas?
  7. >No... materials can easily be changed. But what I intend to do is: Have a group with a color and then add a goldmaterial in the pose. Any help, how this can be done?
  8. >PS: Don't try to change shaders with this method... that will very likley result in a crash of A:M. Everything else should be changeable. Just to clarify. Can I change a material or is that the same like a shader?
  9. Hi all, Must be an easy question for the masters but I am somehow stuck. I want to create an on/off pose, where I can change the surfacecolor or material lets say from white to black or from none to metal and maybe a decal to show / dont show. and cant seem to find a way to achieve this. Any hints, step by step tutorials help?
  10. Must be a knott in the overseas backbone or something, scince it`s working perfectly smooth for me here in Hamburg as well. Awesome work and....... I found the sound button. ...echt klasse Jake
  11. Hi all, I am experimenting with layers. The tractor is supposed to run between the right field-layer in the foreground and the left field-layer behind, wheras the farmhouse and sky are on an extra background-layer. One major drawback: Seems when I toonrender, I can`t avoid an outline around the layers or is there a way? I guess a workaround would be a cookie cut decal on a one patch plane? In fact that leads me to my main question: What really is the difference between a layer and a decal on a plane and which advantage and setbacks does each have?
  12. Cool, thanks a lot. I will give it a try.
  13. >Because the bone does nothing other then to hold the dbox/capture the control points you want to work with. I dont really rig faces with bones that mimic the bones in a real face anymore. took too much time for me and too much fun away from the process. properly? Thank you Jake
  14. > one bone to make up the upper mouth and nose
  15. if you call it morph targets like in most of the standard poly aps or poses like in A:M ,its just a different name for the same thing.
  16. Would a model like this be suitable? Revolver with booleans RevolverBig15_310805.mdl
  17. DPI!!! My head's going to explode! (Please, never mention "DPI" and "resolution" in the same breath again or my heart will fail.) 720 X 405 will work fine (better than fine) if you're doing an animation. 1200 X 800 looks pretty good on a computer screen. 2000 X 1600 will look great in any magazine or 8X10 print, (we use it for posters!) p.s. Quick, Robert, jump in front and block me with your body when the next guy brings up megapixel render settings. Maybe it would be a good idea for questions like this, which pop up once in a while ( same with patches versus polygons ) to just have a little Mini-explanation/tut ready, that you simply could copy paste into your e-mail, so that neither the "errant sheep´s" feelings nor your nerves get hurt.
  18. Very funny proportions. ! Cute I love him!
  19. >Here's the closeup. The problem with these setting for the hair, which I was trying to avoid, was render times. This took 32 minutes to render with default lighting, not very practical for animation. >The mouth shape is bugging me, need to do something with that. May be you could also insert the 2008 rigg into him? (I always planned to do a stylized Kong myself along the lines of the old black and white "Migthy Joe Young" or the old Aurora plastic model. Here`s a picture . Maybe some of you remembers him or even have a better picture?) ;>) Jake
  20. much better, I think, makes him look wilder and more uncivilesed. Great job on the hair so far! I don`t know if this is easy to do, but could you post an alternative with the hair a bit thinner, denser and shorter and maybe darker over all, just to see , what this would look like?
  21. Mark, The fact that only so few people are using it at the momement for sure doesn`t mean, there is no interest in it! As far as I am concerned , I have been following your posts with greatest interest and your solutions seems for me to be the best solutions and I plan to use them as soon as I find the time to get out of job-and family obligations again to get back to work with AM. There must be many people like me silently watching, who cant work with AM professionally all the time but still follow your work and highly appreciate it. As far as I have looked into it, I think your rig is very, very versatile and pretty easy to install at the same time. I would appreciate it very much, if you would continue it`s maintainance,(if even at a slower pace) (also the fingercontrols and the facerig) I think succsess will be with you in the longer run!.. Anyway , thanks a lot again for your FREE work so far on your awesome 2008-rigg! ;>) Jake
  22. I vaguely recall, that this has something to do with a percentage setting somewhere at the shadows casting of the lights. You will have to increase that. Sorry, can`t look into that closer at the moment, since I donT have AM with me right now. But maybe somebody else can tell you it`s exact location.
  23. >Hope an answer arises for you... I fear the only one would be Mr. Raf Anzovin... who developed TSM/TSM2... and I think the words 'Animation:Master" are not even in his vocabulary these days... Or maybe was it a brother?
  24. Hurra, That did the trick! Mark, thank you so much!!! What would I do without your invaluable help and this great forum... Now up to further investigation as soon as I find the time. Thanks again :>) Jake
