  1. Oh.. heh.. Now I feel a little better.. at least.. till you are done with it, and I can't tell the difference.. ;(
  2. Honestly, it's sickening how awesome your stuff looks.
  3. I think he was trying to direct you to the data folder that is no longer there. It used to have all the models that were on the bonus cd/dvd.
  4. I agree.. And it's only when I click on the images and make them big anyway. So I won't click on them.. not a big deal. I feel bad that I'm the reason people don't get to enjoy the progress of what I'm sure will be an amazing image. PS: That was the weirdest damn thing ever I tell you... I didn't know an image could even do that.. must be getting old.
  5. Oh my.. I've never felt sick from looking at a picture before.. And I don't get car/sea sick very easy.. but that blur.. almost immediately made me close the picture. I hope you get that figured out soon.. the progress looks awesome, but I just can't study it. Wow.. I still can't believe I got that feeling in my stomach..
  6. It could be my eyes, but the second bounce looks like the ball is going trough the ground. Maybe only because of the strait line and not enough bulge on the ball to show the amount of displaced rubber? Dunno.. ignore me..
  7. Then it is SPOT ON! Good job!
  8. Well, also, you'd have to show voltage drop, the "electrons" right next to each other, etc. It really just depends on what is actually being taught. If it's for an electronics class, I wouldn't want my kid in that class, but if it's for a general electricity class for children, I'm sure it's fine.
  9. I would personally build mine, but a quick "custom" build at Dell.com came up with a Inspiron 530, Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD for only $609.. Pick a higher base model and you can look at upgrading the CPU. Or, you can get a generic AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ (3.2Ghz), 4GB RAM, 250GB HD, GeForce 7200GS for $670. People have chimed in that A:M performs better on AMD processors. I personally don't know. If you haven't read the other threads regarding cores, A:M doesn't multi-thread well, so doing more that 2 cores is useless. Even if A:M isn't using the second core (some tests have shown multi-thread may even perform worse than single) it will keep it available to let you use the computer while it is rendering on one core. RAM is a huge factor depending on the size of the projects you plan on doing. TWO requires at least 2GB of ram to render the scenes. It is also a huge factor in how many applications you plan on having open at one time.
  10. What? No calipers, bleeders, pads, springs, etc? Just kidding. What color do you plan the final car will be? Also, are you thinking "show" quality, or more stock? Being that I watch a lot of Horsepower TV, I would probably either paint it one of the primer colors (gray, rust red, etc) or go with a textured black or dark gray as if it was covered in a rubberized undercarriage coating. If your going with the show quality, you might want to round all the sections where pipes meet, as many people like to add bondo to those sections and make them nice and round before painting or powder coating. Also, now that I'm thinking about it, Are you sure the chassis is boxed, and not made from c channel? If your going with show quality, it wouldn't matter as most people box a c channel when converting to a hot rod. Oh.. and if you already know all this stuff because you are into cars, please let me know so I don't babble on like this.
  11. Just curious, what are you using for reference? With the details you have, I get the feeling you spend your weekends in the garage.
  12. From the sounds of it, you'd probably be better of modeling using A:M, but then go with some kind of game builder that uses a 3D engine to actually make the game.
  13. The best tutorial on this subject I had seen was the one from Alien Song? http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=Columns...1586&page=1 The picture listed there? I remember seeing a tutorial on how to create that with the cut up photo and layers, but can't seem to find it now. It was nice, because it was showing the images within the 3D space in A:M.
  14. Remember, whatever codec you choose, it needs to be one popular enough that the receiver will already have it. Going Xvid or mp4 might not be a good idea just because they might need to install the codec for it. It's hard to know if they will be able to just install the codec, or e-mail you back saying the file doesn't work. If you are certain they already have quicktime, I'd suggest you use a .mov. If not, I would suggest mpeg 1 or 2. Might not be the quality/size you would like, but they will see what you have to offer.. As for comparing outputs, it really is a personal thing to do. What one might consider acceptable, another may not. If someone does go through the work, the best way to communicate it would be with a screen shot of each video posted with the settings, in the order they feel best to worst, with maybe a link to the actual video file. Oh, and don't forget to include render time. codec quality comparison
  15. Looks almost perfect to me.. it's a 3 car garage.. But, from the looks of the house.. why are you modeling the car? You should just buy one.
  16. Actually, the model looks awesome.. those were crits on porcelain vs not. I think I prefer not.
  17. Well, not actually knowing what the real car looks like, I personally prefer without porcelain. The main things I notice is the look of a bend in the side skirt that disappears on the porcelain. And then there is a weird shine right in front of the wheel that makes it look different. The air intake looks less defined, but again, I don't know which is more true. Anyway, here is a quick markup of what made me feel weird about the porcelain version. Green = looks better Blue = just different, again I don't know which is more true. But, either way, the model looks awesome!
  18. Well, since everyone already took the easy ones.. and were general enough to cover pretty much all the vehicle ranges.. And the fact that it doesn't have the tilt in the front to help get over things.. I'm going to stake my claim to the robot family.
  19. Well, maybe some extra information for us newbies.. like benefits and uses? I don't know if a tutorial would help because I don't know what it is, why it's used, or when it should be used.
  20. Looks awesome.. they should be very happy.
  21. Don't know if it's possible, but can you create a dopesheet and then select to silence that actual audio? Then, you could create three seperate dopesheets and silence two of the audio tracks. I would have tested it, but I don't have A:M in the cd-rom drive
