  1. If you get a chance I'd love to see that rendered with v12 Toon Rendering. (I swear v12 has cleaner lines) It looks like yours is a pretty faithful adaption of your friends drawing. Rodney
  2. Bravo! That was a lot of fun. Here's a "Job well done" to everyone involved. Great job piecing everything together too Will! Encore! Encore!
  3. It's not hard to find an internet connection if you want one. Since I'm visiting family though... I may have to force myself not to want one too much. ;o) Nihongo wa wakarimasen. Zenbu wa wasuremashita. Honto ni. Tokyo ga totemo suki desu. Omoshiroi desu ne? Tabum 8/1 LA ni tsukimasu. SIGGRAPH ikimasu ka? ja mata!
  4. For those heading to SIGGRAPH... Anyone got any good leads on hotels near the SIGGRAPH Exhibition? I'm looking for something comfortable within walking distance. Any links? Suggestions? I'll have a wife and two kids in tow so... no you can't sleep on the floor. Disneyland might take us away from SIGGRAPH for one day I fear. Thanks! Note to Will Sutton: I actually have tickets this time so if you plan to be at SIGGRAPH I'll try to make up for last year.
  5. Happy Anniversary! I know everyone (well most everyone) has printers that print to regular bond paper size but, for the record, if I was delivering the certificate to your door it would be twice the size you have it in your picture.
  6. Thanks Gale. That means a lot! I won't be far away (it's hard to get rid of me) but I do anticipate this will be a break from being online. I do have a laptop again (I dropped my old one too many times) so I'll be trying to catch up on some personal projects in A:M. Yea! I like your image!
  7. All, Just a note from your friendly neighborhood New Users Forum moderator to say I'll be out quite a bit in July. I may have limited connectivity to the internet so my ability to answer personal mail etc. will be effected. This is something of a summer family vacation that will take me to Illinois, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Los Angeles and a variety of other places in between. The tour should end with a visit to SIGGRAPH 2005 where I'm looking forward to meeting some of the great people that frequent this forum. If you see a guy that looks lost in LA it'll probably be me so please direct me to the Hash Inc booth! I'll be checking the forum every time I'm near a computer connection to the internet but I imagine that might be rather infrequent at times. Thanks in advance to everyone who will step in to assist with greeting new users and helping them to explore The Art of Animation:Master. This isn't anything new as you always help out but I wanted to take a moment to recognize your effort and say "Thanks!". I couldn't do it without you. Hope to see you at SIGGRAPH! Rodney (I don't have a cafepress storefront but if I did I'd be selling "Adopt a Newbie" TShirts.)
  8. Funny DL... very funny! I have to say, I like the Coke can better. The Hash can, as it is, looks like lemonaid... (and I prefer coke) Rodney
  9. It seems that would make for some interesting raindrops if flattened in the Y axis.
  10. Tom, It's great to see you back. Don't be such a stranger!
  11. There is no installation but you will want to copy the files to a place where you can easily find them. When following the exercises they direct you to open files (projects, images, etc.). When prompted open up the file and have fun! You can also just open the project files and play too.
  12. ...and it isn't complete (or entirely accurate) either. That should give us a starting place though.
  13. While you don't have to complete Exercises 11.5 and 20 to receive a certificate I think you'll want to complete them just the same. Character Modeling and Hair are pretty important parts of 3DCG after all. I'll find a way to indicate on certificates whether the new exercises were completed or not. For the first few to graduate I'd guess you'll see a wookie as one of the corner images. Then you'll always be able to say you were the first! Kudos to Hash Inc for coming up with a way to keep users of the classic versions right in line with those that have the latest and greatest. David, Not to slight the artists that have graced the pages of 'The Art of Animation:Master" for these past years but we'll lobby for some change in scenery in the next update... okay?
  14. Yes and Yes. As far as I can tell you can use v11.1 to do all exercises except the New Exercise 18; Waving the Flag (Cloth). The new Exercise 18 uses Simcloth which I think is exclusive to v12. You can, of course use the older cloth methodology as described by the old exercise in pre-v12 releases. At this time I'm not aware of any other incompatibilities. Rodney
  15. Now this is why it is called the Work In Progress Forum! Great to see a model and project come together step by step like this. Awesome effort on display here. Bravo Xtas!
  16. Hmmm.... according to www.sharbor.com these might be the basic functions and features. We'll have to study and compare this list with Hash Inc's own and see what we can see. Animation:Master 2005
  17. Tri, I haven't forgotten Step-by-Step. I imagine that project will be pretty slick when it finally gets going. For now though it seems to be on the backburner. Not to worry though, we can hone our skills as we prepare other tutorials. Rodney
  18. Getting attacked by reanimated skeltons... not good. Getting attacked by highly skilled warriors... painful. Getting attacked by highly skilled reanimated skeleton warriors... priceless. Great modeling. You really have capturing the image in your painting. Animate that guy! Rodney
  19. My apologies gents... I thought I had added that. I've edited the original post to reflect 24.6MB and 5.1MB respectively. Again... my apologies. The manual contains a lot of graphics.
  20. While there are benifits to being first in line there are also benefits to being patient. For those that care to wait, I believe the PDF file will be updated with an linkable index in the next few days. Thanks to Steve for all the hard work!
  21. For those that like to be ahead of the power curve I'm proud to announce that Hash Inc is releasing the new edition of The Art of Animation:Master. You can find the PDF manual and files associated with new/updated exercises on the Hash Inc FTP site: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/Am2005/2005Manual.pdf 24.6MB ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/Am...wManualData.zip 5.1MB Of specific interest to older A:M Users will be two new exercises: Exercise 11.5: Make a Face - Colin Freeman's Cooper Face building tutorial. Exercise 20: It's Getting a Bit Hairy - Kevin Waldron's Wookie Hair tutorial Exercise 16: Smoke, Wind and Fire has also been rewritten with a focus on Particle Sprites Thanks to Hash Inc (and Colin and Kevin) for the update! 22. A distant memory. Daniel, Congratulations on the sites update and your included animation!
  23. Really enjoying your Step-by-Step Xtas! If anything like your past efforts this is going to be great. I can already see how your character would make a great biker.
  24. heehee. I think you meant charm but we know what you mean. From Tree Generator to all the various environmental creations Animation:Master users are quite talented folk. Great stuff!
