  1. Fair enough. But just wait until you are feeling worthy. Then we will have our tutorial making revenge!
  2. In reverse order: Gale, My comcast email still works. I use it to collect email for later reference. Its set with all manner of filters. I rarely check it.) The link at the bottom of each of my posts should send you to my primary email address; rodney . baker @ gmail . com (without spaces of course) I get lots of spam but the Google filter works well. The easy answer is 'Yes'. I think I'll have to come up with a 'ReCertificate' though. Hmmm... an idea is already formulating in my mind... It'd be great to have you in TAoA:M again! *All this more info than you asked for but... there you go!
  3. Not sure where you are seeing that information. There is only one version of A:M. It has lipsync capability (with or without dopesheets should you choose to use it) and compositing and animating are standard. Perhaps you are thinking Netrender? Even Netrender has the same program feature set. The same A:M. It has more rendering options for groups of computers across a network. There is only one Animation:Master.
  4. Hey. This is the first I've seen of this project. I must have missed it when you posted last year. Quite an ambicious project! Congrats on completion.
  5. You are indeed. I have to go back and collect all your exercises again as I downloaded them on a different computer. Gallery page and Certificate coming up! Congrats! I assume you are moving on to Animation Bootcamp?
  6. Thanks Sam, I'll get those updated as soon as I can. The links to Exercise 11.5 and 20 are hidden in the introduction to TAoA:M certification. It reads as follows: Now I remember where I left off updating last fall... Gonna have to get those added into the online course.
  7. Thanks Sam, That helped a lot. Filled in a lot of gaps. Some fine work too I might add. I'm taken the liberty of cropping a few and I know I replaced Exercise 4. I'll hunt up 4 and put it back in. I understand that Ex8 is a dual purpose Exercise? Here's what I have right now. The Art of A:M - Sam Wiley Gallery Thanks! Rodney
  8. That may be the worst toon look I've seen in a long time. (Sorry but I'm tellin it like it is!) Color her shaded or contact Mike Stamm.
  9. Don't think that'll happen. That's too much like work. Contract work will cost ya $250.00 an hour. We'll see what we can do though.
  10. Yes. Several people have gone that route. A word of caution however. Make sure you are buying a legal version and the transfer/registration moves to you. Otherwise you'll be out the money plus the ability to upgrade. For more specific information I recommend a phone call to Hash Inc. Their number can be found on ther support page. Note that v11.1b would be A:M 2004. v12 was the release for 2005.
  11. A:M can most definitely animate images like that. With apologies to the Ad agency that made that particular ad I submit my quick test. Second animated gif was meant to show Choreography angle but...um... its doesn't really. The dust looks like an image added in a plane in front of the other elements. You could do that via an image and transparency in A:M or go the whole distance and use particle effects or dust. Project file for this test available on request. Most of the techniques you could use can be found in the TAoA:M Exercises. I used Layers in this project though. and... no... I didn't spin the tires. The speed of the animation is slowed down for better viewing too. I may modify this and add it to the Custom Car exercise if there is any interest.
  12. Charlie, There are some spline intersections that are going to give you problems. You have at least one 3 pointer that will work... but it might be reworked as well. When in doubt and you can't get out of a problem its often best to let A:M work it out for you. In your case I think if you locate the profile (see blue line in image below) and extrude out from there. Then once your splines are in place in one profile select splines and turn to another profile and pull out the parts you need. Clear as mud... sorry. Maybe the images will help. Edit: Gotta get up early to beat Mike Stamm to the post! Uploaded the wrong image too! Right one posted now.
  13. Yeah... but you can say it clearer and more concisely... and you did!
  14. Myles (You might be careful with the name Mr. M around here... it'll cause flashbacks for some people!) The easiest way to add a new light is to drag and drop a light from your Project Workspace (PWS) into your Choregraphy window. Having said that there are other ways as well. Creating lights (the primary way) you probably already know. Right click on [Objects] in the PWS and select [New][Light]. Additional information (Model Lights). You can also create lights in a model window where the light is treated (for purposes of this example) as a Bone. Going into Bones Mode in a Modeling window will be required to move your light around. Here is the 'official' word on lights for the Tech Reference: Information on Lights from the v12 Technical Reference.
  15. Xtas said: Hey! Ye 'old point here is that everyone can do this. The link to 'printify' your MUFOOF thread would be: Multiple Frames in Only One Frame (MUFOOF) by Xtas and friends Now turning your discussion into an article... that I'd like to do too. We can make that happen. David Puthuff queried: I agree with your assessment of Jeff Cantin. His works are essential reading. Unfortunately he has unplugged from the online community these days. Time and neglect have dulled the luster of those classics. Some of the information simple doesn't quite fit anymore. Short of forming an annual trek to Reno to sit and learn at the school of Cantin I'm not sure what to do. Jeff said he'd be back... so I wait. Until Jeff returns we'll have to use what little light we have to plod forward. Now if you are volunteering to help update these classics... we accept.
  16. You can probabably Google some information on times and places. Then there is the Hash Road Trips page If you get a chance to visit their booth... GO!
  17. Wow... that's like... some crazy alien rock band kicking off their concert. The first one made me immediately think Loons for some reason (TWO-wise that is).
  18. David, Great to have you back. Hope you'll make yourself more comfortable this time. Do you have any specific goals this time around or are you just having fun? Good luck on the exercises and Bootcamp!
  19. For info only (For those that don't know): Page Up/Page Down doesn't change the splines of the model except in the sense of realtime viewing. The underlying splines (magnatude etc.) remain the same underneath.
  20. Hey! Thanks for resurrecting your WIP Robert. I love your unique and painterly style.
  21. Gale, You must have seen the Universal Binaries announcement? Ordering online is quick and easy but for the full treatment I'd suggest calling Hash Inc. (See phone number on their service page). They are a friendly bunch. James Hash himself took my last order. ...or as Forrest Gump might say: 'Life is like a call to Hash Inc for an upgrade ... you never know who you're gonna get'.
  22. Jin, Your process of making the glass for your light is the first I've seen of such a thing. 'Amazing' is the word that immediately springs to mind. Amazing in its simplicity and execution. To me this is a great example and useful demonstration of how detail can be brought out in a model with intelligent thought and application. I hope I can recall it when time comes that I need to use it. Thanks for sharing this technique.
