  1. (I'm having deja vu like I've answered these posts before) Nathe, Great to have you back. You don't have to always be hanging around the forum but it should always be a great place to come back to. Hope you always feel welcome here. Pook, There are several of us that love the 'cartoon' look around here so you among friends. Together we'll discover the best way to render our 'toons'. Learning can be frustrating but... ah... what success feels like when finally achieved. Hang in there!
  2. Robert, Have you already set up your character with a phoneme set? If you've set them up with the Preston Blair set as outlined in Exercise 7 then your characters should be ready to go. The whole idea of the standard phoneme set is automation and reusability. That and making difficult often repeated tasks easier. Once you've blocked in your basic lipsync you can go back in and personalize it to each character. Edit: I should have said Exercise 12: Lipsync. That is where it details setting up the lip poses.

    Libary!

You had it right the first time Isiac. The models and projects are all right there on the A:M CD. I was going to comment before but you already had it covered. Nathe, The files are on the main CD not the Extra CD.
  4. David Simmons has officially released the first part of his series of Squetch Rig Installation tutorials! Part one can be found here: Squetch Rig Installation (Part I) or you can download it directly here: Download: Squetch_Installation_Part_1.zip 39.6MB Zip file
  5. The Tutorials Forum is proud to announce the first in a series of tutorials by David Simmons on Rigging a Character with the new Squetch Rig. For now the tutorial is available only in MOV format. Downloadable in a 40.6MB Zip file: Squetch Rig Installation (Part I) by David Simmons They are H.264 encoded, so, they require Quicktime 7. Other formats will follow. There is an ongoing discussion on the Squetch Rig in the Rigging and Relationships forum. There you will also find the plugin and all files used with the tutorials. Thanks to David for taking the time to put these tutorials together. Thanks also to all who have put their effort into creating, refining and documenting the Squetch Rig. Enjoy! -------------------------------- Additional Information -------------------------------- Don't forget to download the Install Rig Plugin! You can find it HERE. 6. aj, The dictionary file can be found on the Yeti CD at: E:/Setup/Windows/dictionary.dic Assuming your drive is E of course. As far as I know the same file can be used on a Mac and a PC.
  7. Balance/Balance Rigid has caused enough problems that some refuse to use them. They serve a purpose (to automatically keep the character upright etc) but when you attempt to unbalance a character (which you perfectly do!) it runs afowl of the constraints. There are some discussions on Balance/Balance Rigid in these TAoA:M threads. As I recall the concensus was that most people should just turn them off. If you are still having problems getting both actions to work as you expect them two I would recommend opening two instances of A:M. Open Ken's project file on the left and yours on the right. Then check the settings one by one in the Shaggy Actions in the Chor. Anything that is different may provide you with the information you need to resolved any issues.
  8. It might be interesting to see the difference between Ken and my project files. I'm not really sure what the problem was. I deleted the action out of the Chor (under the Shaggy shortcut) Saved Then reapplied the CanCanFall action. This was after I had seen that the action was playing fine in the main Action but not in the Chor Action. All appears to be right with the world. Ah... I see in my case I failed to locate the cancan action. Makes much more sense to me now. Ken's a genius. He diagnosed that one quickly Attachment Updated (Should match Ken's pretty closely) cancanfallValidated.zip
  9. I stay that's spot on. Great job!
  10. I thought he was running! Pretty neat effect there. Keep it up!
  11. Whoops... I knew I'd let that timetravelin' thing slip eventually. Going back to 1994 to correct that. When I buy A:M this time though I hope it doesn't create one of those time ripple effects that destroy us all. Its a lot harder to animate when you are 'destroyed'. The last time I destroyed us all we couldn't animate for weeks. But... that's all in the past.
  12. I think... I want... to see him animated. Can you throw some more pics at us from various angles/distances?
  13. If that was the Comdex of '04 in Las Vegas I was there roaming through the stalls. On the last day I discovered the Hash Inc booth. I bought a video from the Hash Inc booth (I should have found a way to buy the program instead!) But I was a poor young Airman with my priorities all messed up. So I chose to suffer for 4 years instead. What a great thing it was to finally open that package when I bought A:M in '98. As Ken states you'll have to upgrade to get the latest and greatest. The good news... it only costs $99 from any version of A:M. Not to confuse you but if you purchase now you'll get v12 *and* v13. If you wait you'll get v13. I'd upgrade now. Great to hear that your son has an interest in animation. It is a really fun and rewarding thing to do.
  14. jon said: Rodney shields his PG13 eyes. Just kidding. Wireframes too Steve!
  15. I love the story. It reminds me of a bird story I was working on briefly several years ago. (Around 1994 by my reckoning) Yours is much more original while mine more closely resembles that of the movie Valiant (unfortunately). I even wrote parts of a few songs (including a duet) for it. Believe me when I say this is really something for me because I don't write songs! I think it was actually inspired by 'Little Mermaid' more than anything. I recall I had a great time working on the character interaction. Digging into who they were and how they worked together in the story. Thanks for bringing that project back to my mind. Ah the memories... I hope you have plans to further illustrate 'The Journey Begins'. Personally I think it would make a great children's book. In any case... Congratulations on going final on your project! Fine work!
  16. You've been busy! Looks pretty fine from here. Eyelashes and Ears (assuming the ears aren't there already*) would be my suggestion. Her neck is a bit akward too. Perhaps less taper? Go Steve! *If you are wanting to bypass adding the ears a little more volume in the hair to hint at their presence would work.
  17. None friendlier. We are not unlike a really large family. The forum really is the place to get up to speed quickly so you can get on with your projects. ...and as for asking questions... bring it on! Since your brain is trained in Truespace definitely take the time to work through the manual. Thats the easiest way to reorganize the brain. While waiting for A:M to arrive I recommend viewing the online exercises from The Art of Animation:Master. http://www.hash.com/VM/ Welcome to the A:M Community.
  18. Nowadays the A:M Forum is really the community's FAQ but long long ago in much more ancient times their lived the A:M FAQ. Some of the information is still as valid as ever while others have been outdated for quite a while. Still its a treat to read through and revisit the glory days of yesteryear. The names alone are worth the read. ...and the best is yet to come! For those that haven't seen it and those that haven't visited in awhile: The Animation:Master FAQs
  19. Chad, Weren't you the one who did the clone trooper helmet?
  20. Heck we don't even need that button in A:M anymore. The dragon... flying actions... and walk cycles are all just a drag and drop away. Next thing people will ask for is a 'DragonS button'. BTW - I think it is this dragon that was referred to. Dragon - created by: Eduardo Gutiérrez Added: 'Drag-on Button' is still pending patent or sumthin like that.
  21. Pook, You said it! I've got a really long way to go myself before I'll consider myself even semi-skilled but I'm definitely having a great time with Animation:Master. Don't be shy... post your projects and get involved as you are able. Other than that... the exercises from the manual are definitely the first place to focus. Welcome to the A:M Community!
  22. Ohoh... Greg Rostami demos in sync... this gonna be dangerous! *Don't forget to tell us the secret.
  23. I got the opposite of Ken this time. 3 seconds... and great quality BTW! (I probably should have tested a few times last time)
  24. 12 seconds from click of link to first image on the Cloth Tutorial. I'm on a wireless network connected to broadband browsing with IE Explorer on a XP Home machine. 5 seconds to first still image on second demo. voice kicked in about 2 seconds later with the demo. Great updates there Greg! As a side note: I don't know if everyone else is getting the same but the audio seems to fall behind the lipsync and is rather noticeable in the Blit Wizbok (Alien Song) sequences.
