pixelplucker
There is a non retail version of CS2 from Adobe for Mac or PC for free. Found out from this article: http://www.techspot.com/news/51316-adobe-o...nt-mean-to.html programs are here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html Nothing else it might help those who need Photoshop but can't afford it. I believe there is no support for these nor I don't think you can upgrade off of them. Anyways the price is good
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 13, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 13, 2013 I read something about that, it was meant for people who already had a license but for some reason the Adobe server wasn't OKing them anymore. I'm not sure the downloads work for anyone else. Do they?

Admin Rodney Posted January 13, 2013 Admin Share Posted January 13, 2013 Very interesting.
John Bigboote
Doing it right now... that Creative Suite CS2 was state of the art- what... 5 years ago? Not bad technology for free... prolly designed to attack the 'Gimps' and other freebies out there and also, eventually spurn interst and new sales dollars for Adobe. Clever and shrewd! Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 14, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 14, 2013 The catch is you have to download it from the same office cube you had in 2005.
johnl3d
read this yesterday......What really happened here is that Adobe decided to stop maintaining the servers that verify serial numbers prior to unlocking and activating the software when a new user installs CS2 products. According to a post from an Adobe community manager on their forums, they aren’t intending that users download it free of charge. Instead, they made the change so that existing CS2 users could download the software they already hold licenses to, and be able to successfully install it on their machines without having to activate through Adobe’s servers. Strange, then- that they give you a 'one size fits all' serial number.
John Bigboote
Yeah.... can't install it. Bogus.
pixelplucker
Thought they just left it more or less as a marketing gimmick. TGS used to do that with the old versions of Amapi, Daz did something similar with old versions of Carrara. Oh well, thought it might help those that are under budget constraints. Admin Rodney Posted January 14, 2013 Admin Share Posted January 14, 2013 I haven't had time to troubleshoot all the installations but... I was able to successfully install both Acrobat and Photoshop. One issue (out of many) with the Creative Suite is the installer will be looking for CDs and therefore you'll likely have to burn those files to CD (or create a virtual drive for them that allows you to access them as a CD. The installer does not allow you to browse to the file location. If you expect to successfully install these I would recommend downloading all the files (not just those you like or think you need) and then read the install document. While it may be possible to install to other locations I think my success was partially due to accepting the default locations (which are not ideal). Note that by this I do not mean that PC users need to download the Mac installers and vice versa. That'd just be silly. FWIW... my first test in Photoshop was to export a path to AI format. My first tests in Acrobat were to make sure attachments and links were working.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 14, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 14, 2013 Hmmm... they've cleverly hidden installation instructions in the pdf file "CS2_install"
pixelplucker
Seems the individual programs install fine. Now I remember why I stopped using their products, my god they are sluggish! They seemed to have broken the booleans in Illustrator, InDesing can't print spot color separations. Photoshop isn't half bad but pretty redundant for what I use. Price is ok though. John Bigboote
Yeah- but the instructions assume you have the disc. I need to try what Rodney said. I had Photoshop installed, but it opened and claimed the serial number was wrong and then closed, with never an option to enter the serial number... will try again tonight. I think there's a statute of limitations on judging software. :-) The current versions are CS6. That's five versions back (there was a version 5.5). Kinda' like reviewing v12 of A:M today. pixelplucker
Heheh, I did try the trial of InDesign last year, I believe it was cs5 it it was horribly sluggish compared to what I am currently using. It did compare to cs2. The software just seems bloated imo. That could be a good thing if your contracted by the hour, I can see how it can definitely make you more $$$. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 14, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 14, 2013 I'm still using my 1999 versions of After Effects and Photoshop.
pixelplucker
I noticed the pc versions of Adobe always were chunky compared to the mac versions. That goes way way back in the early 90's. Early version of EI when they first had the pc version was also kind of sluggish compared to the mac counterpart. Maybe it's the way they compile it? Your on the mac right Largento?
