*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 Has anyone noticed problems posting to the board? Such as messages posting but then disappearing, attached images moving from one post to another in the same thread, or disappearing from a post entirely? I've had all these things happen recently (last night in fact, as well as a couple times in the last week).
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 I don't seem to be able to post anything to the board. Any ideas what might be going on?
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 Ok, I had to manually refresh the browser before my posts showed up in the OT section - but my post in my WIP thread still won't show up. Not sure what is going on. Anyone else seeing things like this?
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 4, 2012 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 4, 2012 Something is odd. I'm seeing your last post as the chest with thinner bevels (that I recall seeing yesterday) but my reply about it appears above it. The date on your computer isn't messed up is it? I can't imagine that would do it, but I dont' really know.
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 No, date and time are correct 7:58 pm CST on 1/3/2012. Don't know what the heck else could be doing it. Maybe its something with IE?
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 The last reply I see from you in my WIP thread is the one in response to my post about having pneumonia. Its like the posts I made in the WIP thread aren't showing at all.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 4, 2012 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 4, 2012 Here's what I see as the last two posts in your thread That picture in the "last" post is what i saw yesterday and responded to in the post just above it. *A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 Yeah, and I'm not seeing that at all in my WIP thread, that is what is so odd. I'll try refreshing it again.
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 Ok, this time I saw it but I had to manually refresh IE before it showed up. And when I came back into this thread, I did not see the most recent posts until I manually refreshed again. It was like they didn't exist at all. Admin Rodney Posted January 4, 2012 Admin Share Posted January 4, 2012 I checked your settings out and all appears as it should be for the board. Did you recently update your browser or install anything related to your browser? Also: - Double check your browser's cache to make sure it's not full. - If you haven't restarted your computer in a long time it's always a good idea to do that before troubleshooting. I've known people that have reformatted and reinstalled everything when (most likely) all they needed to do is restart (not just restart but shut all the way down and then start) the computer. This way your computer will release any memory that wasn't being released before.
Darkwing
Just to be safe, whoever has the privs could reset the board's cache as well. With a board this size if it's not done periodically then it could act strange for random members.
Gerry
Can you try another browser to see if the behavior persists?
Admin Rodney Posted January 4, 2012 Admin Share Posted January 4, 2012 I don't use IE a lot these days because it has me stuck between installations. I can't install the latest version because it says the previous version has to be uninstalled first and I can't uninstall because it says the previous version needs to be uninstalled first. Apparently it won't let me install/uninstall because the previous version was never fully installed in the first place. I've let that go on for about five months now...so... apparently I'm quite content with Google's Chrome browser. I've been a fan of IE but they've made it rather difficult for me to use it. The whole reason I tried to update previously was because it wasn't performing optimally. I figure the problem will go away the next time I upgrade my operating system, so I can wait. thejobe
if you are using windows XP then the browser is reaching its limit and the machine must be reset. the old IE was originally a modified version of the old windows browser which was never meant to be used for the internet (maybe back in 2000 but not today). anything before IE 8 is a modified windows folder browser. *A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 I'm on Vista/7 using either IE 7 or 8. I guess I could try installing one of the other browsers. I don't seem to be experiencing this problem on my other system (but it is also running IE).
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 I cleared my browser cache and then rebooted my system. I am not having this problem on my other box. If that doesn't clear things up on my main system, I'll try an alternate browser for a while.
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 4, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2012 Ok, screw IE. Its still acting up. Switched to a different browser, I'll see how that goes.
Fuchur
I'm on Vista/7 using either IE 7 or 8. I guess I could try installing one of the other browsers. I don't seem to be experiencing this problem on my other system (but it is also running IE). Sounds strange... anyway installing FireFox or Chrome is surely worth a try... *A:M User* Roger Posted January 5, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 5, 2012 Yeah, I've given up on IE at this point. Not sure what is causing the problem, but switched over to Chrome.
John Bigboote
I've learned that IE, being an integral part of the OS, is a major gateway for virus's and malware. It should not be used for day to day web surfing. Chrome and FF are wonderful...
Admin Rodney Posted January 5, 2012 Admin Share Posted January 5, 2012 I've merged your two topics and renamed it... so just so you know.... THAT is not your browser acting up.
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 6, 2012 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 6, 2012 LOL - I hadn't noticed that but thanks
thejobe
If you want to try a virus search I recommend malwarebytes. The best I have ever seen. Gets rid of everything.
