MJL
Hi Folks, Are there any decent tutes on creating and modeling a character. I did the Cooper face tute in ToaA:M, but I'm thinking more cartoony character or somewhere in between. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks
Walter Baker
Hi MJL Last year when I first started I found this and purchased several of Barry's tuts. Great stuff and helped me a lot. http://stores.lulu.com/barryzundel I suggest first draw a sketch of a character front and side and then once you can import them in as rotoscopes it's all just one CP at a time. It's fun, love it.
largento
Add me to the endorsement of Barry's tutorials. I bought the DVDs and went from confusion and frustration to actually being able to model a character. :-)
MJL
The economy crunch has filtered down to us guitar teachers, and my student load is at about 25 to 30%. I've always wanted to get Barrys CD's but at this time I may be able to scrape up the money for one. Which one of the series would cover the making of a character? thanks for your responses M
Walter Baker
I did a quick look through and this one is the one that shows you how to set up a rotoscope and start the modeling process. Part1 and Part2 teach you about the program and basic operation of AM. largento
It looks like you can still order the DVDs from here, as well. The first one covers the interface and modeling, the 2nd one rigging and the 3rd animation. They aren't cheap, but they are well worth it. [EDIT] I just noticed that Barry has a couple of videos on his blog, talking about setting up smart skin and a pose slider. He doesn't go into a lot of detail (he's just demonstrating the capability), but they might be helpful to folks.
