JavierP
Hi everyone, Just thought I'd post this so that y'all can see what I'm workin' on. I hope you like it. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done (i.e. the rest of the model!, textures, rigging etc). Anyhow, here you go.... Ross Smith
Holy Toledo! That's incredibly good. You're a sculptor, right? Or a painter? 'Cos I'm not buying that first model story for a minute. I like the really imaginative design. Please, keep us updated!
natess44
Oh look a cone head! Boy it's going to be a few years yet before I can model like you! Great model. Oh by the way, are you still using v7? Edited February 5, 2004 by natess44
JavierP
Ross: It's not my "first" model, only my first this year,as the title indicates and to answer your question: I am an Illustrator . natess44: Who told you that?! I'll be updating him soon. Javier
Ross Smith
Hahah... joke's on me. I just saw the subtitle. "Quick! Edit your post! -- Too late? Curses." Still tho, it's great. What are your plans for this funkarrific little dude?

JavierP
Ummm... You did about a year ago on the list. I have a long memory.. So I did. I just didn't think anyone else remembered . I guess I just never needed to upgrade. I guess I will now though, what with the new hair feature and all that other stuff. Javier
JavierP
KKK dude with big ears! Yeah I know, someone else told me that when I was designing him. He doesn't have a nose either Javier
zacktaich
His upper lip kindof looks like a nose. He looks great. Wires?
DarkLimit
Great model here JavierP - nice clean mesh, looks like a star wars character..... keep up the good work.
JavierP
Ok, here's a wire frame/ model window render of him. Javier
zacktaich
Nice wire's. The one thing I would say is due to the simplicity of his face he probably needs less splines than more complex models. But if you're planning to do some heavy animation with it (I'm thinking the sorting hat in the Harry Potter movies type animation) Then what you've got is fine. I can't wait to see what the rest of him looks like

Ross Smith
Crazy, man. You must've been doing this for years. Do you have a gallery of some kind? I'm getting really attached to this guy, he's got so much imagination in him. Although I can't tell if his face will be leathery or just straight-out cloth. Iham Wrong
That's a cool looking and bazaar critter. Sort of reminds me of the wizards hat from the Harry Potter movie.
Mike Lium
very unique lotsa posibilities I like it ..
Hutch
That's very nice! Is this for anything specific or are you modelling just to model? I'm pretty interested to see what the rest of him (it?) will look like.
JohnArtbox
Funky Model Javier. Lots of character and a very nice design. Congratulations on your logos too, I thought they were fantastic. Now I'm going to look at your website
John Keates
I've always liked your stuff and this is no exception. It has a wonderfull sense of materiality and character. I can't wait to see animations produced with your models. You were the one than modelled the cat with the lantern right?

Parlo
Gorgeous model.. I am particularly impressed by the seam! I love the way that he(?) feels as though he is made out of leather without even having a texture. Awesome.
JavierP
Update: Here is a new shot of him so far. I finally got some free time to work on him. Arms and feet are the next in line; then... texturing and rigging ( although not necessarily in that order). Javier

JavierP
Javier, tell me the truth, please! Have you ever seen the real face behind the mask of the strange bear? Uhhhh.......Ok. Is that some kind of Hailku? Here's a wireframe for anybody who's interested. He's got feet now. Javier
Admin Rodney Posted February 12, 2004 Admin Share Posted February 12, 2004 Javier, Moving along nicely. It's interesting to see how you are putting him together piece by piece. When a mesh looks this good it's expected that we'll see a final surfaced model that is simply fantastic. No pressure. Your WIP reminds me of clay sulpture prior to going in the kiln. Can't wait to see what you pour and paint on him prior to going in the kiln the next time. Not to mention the final product when it's all done. JTalbotski
Phew, I'm glad the confusion about the bear has been removed. I wasn't sure what to think of this model if it was supposed to be a bear. Now I can say, Excellent modeling Javier! I love the proportions and spline layout. I'm enjoying it's progression and will be checking in frequently. Jim
gazzamataz
It's a lovely model Javier - nicely balanced and styled. But please, what the friggin hell is it?

pequod
Lovely model Javier, It's both sinister with that sort of klu klux klan hood, and cute with those ears and flat snubby face.
JavierP
Thanks guys. As to what he is; he is a sort of creature that is so repulsive that he has to cover himself almost completely, in a body suit and a dimwitted personality. In fact the only parts of him that are at all presentable are his ears. Which is why they are so prominently on display. I haven't quite decided on a name yet though.
