Ilidrake Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Here are 2 renders of the same model. One using toon and the other a standard render, nothing special. Which do you prefer? Quote
NancyGormezano Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Both are interesting. I prefer the standard - but it's obviously personal choice. Just 2 different looks - both valid. What's your preference & what are you going to be doing with this guy? Quote
Ilidrake Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Nothing really. It's a simple head model of Darkwing Duck and I was just trying different outputs for the file. Anyone who has watched the cartoon or seen screen shots could give me an idea or two on how he should be rendered. Quote
jon Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 i love the toon lines, but you could always try a 2 or 3 color toon shader for a more smoother look. -jon Quote
the_black_mage Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 i'm a toon person so..i like the toon better i love darkwing duck!!!!!! Quote
case Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 umm well the toon lines need to be smoother both look great! Quote
Admin Rodney Posted January 21, 2007 Admin Posted January 21, 2007 I was wondering when someone might model DW. Cool! While I would usually be a fan of the toon look in the image you've provided I like the 3D shaded look. Experimenting in line width and toon shade mgiht easily convince me otherwise though. Quote
Ilidrake Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 Here's an update to him. Most of the body is done, except for hands, inner mouth, and eyes. I like the 3d shaded look myself and is what I will go with in final renders. Quote
Mohammad Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I think the toon is cooler mainly because it is an acctualy toon, and the toon you're using makes it look 3d-toon like they do in games so I perfer the toon one Quote
MattWBradbury Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 You might want to reduce your Toon Line Bias just a little. You can read through the A:M Features Toon Rendering to see what some other options can get you. You might want to add some pupils to increase the character's emotions. Quote
c-wheeler Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I like the toon one as well. You can get some cool results using standard render, then render out toon lines seperately, then composit the two together- a sort of french manga style Chris Quote
Ilidrake Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 I have the body rigged and have started rigging the head but have slowed down due to the complexity of the bill. Very difficult. I've ran a few tests with simcloth on the cloak and have promising results, although I would like to know if someone has a rig for cloaks. What about luckbat? He did a rig for a character didn't he? aen916 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Your model looks great. I like the toon render as well. Don't forget his gas gun. Andy. Quote
