    Photon Room

Wow...I have been gone for a while... Yves, as usual, stunning artisitc work. You never cease to amaze me. I especially like the last two renders - exactly the look that I am aiming for. lhvio89, yes, you are right and I agree. When I modeled the comforter, I was going for the down pillowy look but didn't give it enough weight. The room is loosely based on my daughters room. It's for an amimation project that I am developing. Hopefully, now that I am back and caught up, I can begin to populate the room and begin my re-design of it. I finally began modeling the actors and a few more props. Just not enough hours in the day... I hope to have a few renders before years end. Still working on that web site, too! Next up...a toon render!? Tony
  2. Egads that's a nice model! As with your child and Hulk model, all very well structured and detail to attention is quite good. Have you tried using WeightMover to create more thickness/variation to the chainmail in his suit/costume? I just started playing with WeightMover and it seems it should help with that. If I recall, Robin has a fairly "dense" mesh in his costume. Unless you plan to do this with decals or what not etc... Then again, what do I know... Tony
  3. Again, excellent model. I especially like your spline"age" and form. Any chance to see other poses? Keep posting! Tony
  4. Very nice indeed. Reminds me of drawings of Howard Chaykin. Yikes! Am I dating myself...? Can't wait to see more. What was the reference on this, too? Tony
  5. What impresses me the most is the attention to detail and how the form is so well built. It shows a strong understanding of anatomy and of facial structure. Very, very nice. Tony
  6. Hey! Real nice. Lot's O' character. Very expressive and well designed. The only thing that caught my attention are the eyes. They look like they are protruding out and not "part" of the model. Perhaps a close up of the face. Overall, nice doggie... T-Ma
  7. Yves - as always fantastic! I especially like how the form flows into each other. How the pelvis has such a graceful curvature into the rib area and blends right into the chest cavity. I notice the subtle "S" shape throughout the form -- very nice. Reminds me of the some of the early loose sketches of Titian. I can't wait for the back view to see the latissimus dorsi... I guess now my old curious anatomy studies are piqued. Tony

Hi, John: As always, these characters are fantastic! They have such zeal and whimsy about them. Simply modeled but well crafted. No easy feat. As you can tell, I really like your work. Also, I purchased SkyCast...a must buy! In the near future I hope to have some scenes to post. Just been so overwhelmed with work and family... Keep posting John. Tony
  9. What's up D-Bo! I really like him. I agree with Shaun, I would add some mass to his torso to give him more "weight". I like the blue hair, too. Have you thought of trying a receding hairline? Also, does he have long hair in the back? Any chance of seeing a close up of his face? The nose looks really good...can't wait for more. Tony
  10. Very nice scene you have developing. I like the design of the house...is it for sale? I would give hair emmiters a shot. It may offer you more flexibility. Have you thought of adding a small hill in the left rear of the image to give it a more "rolling" look? Are you planning to add water to the fountain, too? All in all, very nice and can't wait to see your progress. Tony
  11. I highly reccommend it! One of the best bargains at $25! Tony
  12. One thing I admire is good lighting. That is some mighty nice lighting!!
  13. Pure and simple, excellent modeling. I really like your approach to shaping your forms. I hope to see more...soon! Tony
  14. I like your modeling approach as far as outlining the form first. Very much like art school and defining mass. Hey, maybe I do know some stuff! Comics...gotta love them. Too bad they have changed soooo much. Hey, that's a topic for another day. Tony
  15. Very, very nice modeling so far! Is that Andy Smith or Bart Sears drawing? I know that Andy changed his style to mimic more of Bart's style. Next time maybe Kirby!! Talk about dynamic! Can't wait to see more... Tony
  16. They look really interesting - especially the Jester. However, it's rather difficult to really get a good look at them from the image that you posted. Anyway that you can post a larger image?
  17. I really like your spline placement. Very simple yet powerful and very effective. There is a nice flow to the cp's and the overall face. Very nice job. Tony
  18. For what it's worth, , I have SkyCast and I think it's a wonderful app. Very easy to use and and set up. Well worth the price! Tony
  19. Very impressive splining! I admire true economy of splines. Have you tried to animate the joints? Tony
  20. Very nice scene. What are you planning to do with the background? Also, what type of lighting are you using? Tony

    Photon Room

I hadn't seen any new film from Pixar that featured a turtle. Where can I see this? The turtle, if I remember correctly, was either from the Hash CD, or from a free site generated by a generous AM'er! As far as clutter, specific to under the bed, when I get a bit more time on my hands, I plan to finish some models that I hope to populate the room. I'm looking at my daughter's room and trying to decide which objects to use in a clever manner. The great thing with working with Yves is that he really pushes the artist, that being me, to do the best that I can!!!! Believe me, the room is far better than I could have hoped for. There are several things that I hope to add to the room...I only wish I had more time. There are still many things that I hope to do in prepping for my animation, but Yves and the photon mapping technique have helped me lay the stage for this. I encourage all AM'ers to really try, and push, photon mapping. This way we can really make A:M shine and allow photon mapping to be better developed for future releases.

    Photon Room

Let me throw my $.02 since the room is somewhat, loosely, based on my daughter’s room. By the way…it’s never that tidy!! Yes, that is the size of the bed that my wife and I bought her...fine Italian wood! I modeled the bed, and the rest of the furniture, to scale. My daughter likes to be "free" while she sleeps. Also, while my daughter takes dance and plays with Barbies...she also plays a wicked game of tennis, baseball, soccer and loves Harry Potter on the X-Box. She has a fondness for anime due to me!! There is much tension, in a fun and loving way, between adult and child because, let's face it, kids are tough nut to crack! Especially a five year old. My daughter drives us batty because of that reason. My wife can’t believe that she sat through Star Wars with me…go figure. The room, and the chrome robot, are for an animation that I am working on. I am currently modeling the girl, several other characters as well as adding more specific models to make the room a wee bit more…girly. When Yves and I spoke about photon mapping, we decided to use the "room" as jumping point - since I had most of it modeled anyway. For me, it was a no brainer...I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. Yves, besides being an incredible artist, is incredibly knowledgeable and a complete professional as well as being completely supportive and enthusiastic. I have learned quite a bit from him... Yves really turned the room around, greatly improving it, from the original scene that we begun with. He really made the room click and added much mood and detail to it. I hope I shed some more light on the subject. If not, please ask away… Tony
  23. Hi, Will: I have it. If you like, I will be more than happy to zip it and email it to you...please let me know.
  24. What I have always admired, and respected, about Jim's modeling, is his usage of splines. His models are all well crafted and none are overly heavy with regards to their mesh. No easy feat. I, as well as others, would not mind a tutorial... Nah...no pressure.
