  5. Question for Rob: While improving the lighting today [at Live Answer Time] for Johns picture, we adjusted a bunch of global ambiance parameters. It seems that the Global Ambiance parameters can be adjusted from various places-, Camera or Choreography or Rendering all have inputs. What is the correct sequence of adjusting the Global Ambiance settings? Which Setting is the most important ....and then do you work your way "down the tree" to make further adjustments? Any clarifications are welcome. Thanks, Tom

  9. Having trouble trying to reproduce the effects we saw with the Sumi plugin during the tutorial. I can't even get the window to open up where the user gets to play with the Sumi properties sliders!!! Yikes...I try double clicking on every line in the Project Workspace area but no window comes up...How do you get the Sumi editing window to appear? I did find the "save as animation" line ... but when I render out the images they are just blank that show no sumi effects at all. User error obviously... Attached is the project if anyone can pinpoint any errors, it would be much appreciated.. Thanks, Tom SumiNotWorking.prj

  12. Hello- SumiV15Test.prjHere is a suggestion for the question of the day. Trying to use the Sumi PlugIn for V15 and am not sure whether I am doing the procedure incorrectly or whether the plugin Simply doesn't work anymore with this version.
  13. Did a follow up test with three meshes, Blue is 4 patches, Red is 25 patches and Yellow is 100 patches. All three responded to a Force...so not sure why the other "Magician Trick" handkerchiefs didn't work with a low mesh model. Another mystery of AM.... Thanks for sharing your stuff Andy! MeshTest.mp4
  14. Maybe this project can serve as a starter question. Attached is a project that I can't get to work. Pretty simple really ...three handkerchiefs are supposed to fly out of magic hat. No matter how big the force, they simply fall down...hmmmm MagicTrick.prj

  16. I think your idea of having objects appear sequentially is brilliant but I can't seem to get it to work. Here is a embedded project of a top hat with things appearing, but they seem unaffected by the force. Any suggestions? TopHat.prj

  21. Interesting observations about the Fleischer's animation style. I'll have to pay more attention when I look at their work. Those 3D backgrounds were on a huge lazy Susan setup that was slowly turned frame by frame. I don't understand how they were able to light the whole scene while hanging the cels in front and get no shadows... If you ever watch their Popeye and SIndbad, it has a lot of 3D ..in color!
  22. I didn't know there was a bug report site...I just sent a short note Steffen with a graphic and explanation. I'll keep that other site in mind for the future. thanks! BTW- There were 10 Grampy shorts and the animators made sure that every one of his inventions was possible ( at least in a cartoon universe). Here is another one...
  23. I sent Steffen all the info and hopefully that can be fixed... BTW- In viewing all the old cartoons from the 1930's , are you familiar with Max Fleischer's Grampy cartoons? Some of my favorites..like "Grampy's Indoor Outing"- I love the way they combine real 3D sets with the animation.
  24. Yes ......it worked in v15......interesting... Then I exported the model into v19 and it was the same as before.... Hmmm. so the only way this works is in v15? No workarounds for the higher versions? I thought maybe a clever bone hierarchy would trick the software..
