I put some color on it and tried clipping the edge off with a transparency map... NeferTurnJ_2K.mp4

Yes, all of that shape is driven by the displacement map. Crazy, huh?

I took the famous Nefertiti OBJ with 2 million polygons, put a gradient on it to render a displacement map and put that map on a flat card in A:M. Overhangs like behind the cheekbones and at the side of the nose are impossible to project off a flat card but overall I'm impressed at how the OpenEXR displacement map captures all the tiny details of the original OBJ. full screen to see detail... NeferTurnH_3K.mp4 The displacement map looks like this...

I'm trying to disable the CapsLock Key by editing the registry but I can't edit this value. The cursor is unmoveable when i open this editing box. Can anyone else edit in Regedit? (I did run it as Administrator)

Beautiful! I presume that is you playing, too?

Happy Valentines to you, John!

Last year several of us embarked on learning C++ using a free Udemy course. We made some progress but got sidetracked about half way through so we're going to start from Square One again. If you are interested in C++, the language A:M and A:M plugins are written in, here's your chance to get in on the ground floor. The course advances in very small increments, it should be more than accessible to anyone who uses A:M. I made it all the way through to the end of the curriculum and got all the projects to work, so i can probably answer any question that comes up in the course of this course. PM me if you are interested!

I should also note that to make those work, I copied the contents of the installer CD to my hard drive. That probably made the difference since I suspect you can't set a compatibility mode property for a file that is on a non-writeable CD.

I see ads for classes like that here in Dallas and wonder... who teaches such a thing?

Airplane mode doesn't even show up. I presume that is because my desktop has no wireless device in it. It turns out this was because I had set windows "scale" to 150% hoping that would make desktop labels larger but it appeared to have no effect. However it was doing that on my other monitor and when i dragged something to that other monitor... it got bigger. A:M scaled looked kind of blurry.

I don't know! I don't know if Simcloth has any random element to how it makes decisions. My presumption is that, no, it doesn't. We get different results from dropping a real cloth because it is impossible to hold and drop it exactly the same each time, and after you drop a cloth once it can never truly be returned to its pre-dropped condition. It is also an uncountable set of points acting among each other. Simcloth is a finite set of points, each of which can be exactly defined in all regards along with the forces that act on each. So i would expect the process to be exactly repeateable. I would want that so that as i search for cloth settings i know that something doesn't work for reasons other than random chance. Maybe it has something to do with the (im)precision of floating point numbers? One thing that is different about the two cases is that my old CPU didn't have the SSE4 extensions that A:M can use if they are there, but my new CPU does. ??
-
A/B comparison of slightly different results between two different beta versions of A:M, but also on two different CPUs, a Q6600 and a Core i5-3470. Same settings but somehow the cloth settles a bit differently.

How do I stop Windows 10 from resizing windows when i drag them to another monitor? Online advice says to turn off "Snap" but that didn't solve it.

I finally got the installers for Photoshop 6 and Freehand 9 to run. I had to do them in "Windows ME" Compatibility. Hooray! Does anyone know how to get back the classic 3D edge of the windows where the upper left is highlighted and the lower right is unlighted?

And ear phones.

hi myron. I actually did not notice the butterfly until the second viewing. With the character in front, signalling for our attention the butterfly is easily missed. Is this the same scene as the title screen? I would just make a new path for whatever you want to do in this new scene. If you have time to come to Live Answer TIme we could talk about your scene. (Maybe you already said you couldn't make it?)

If you import those as "Prop" they will import much faster.

Here is a turn-around. I keyframed the settings of the skin shader about every 90° of the turn of the light to approximate what I imagined skin would look like in that environment. Some moments look quite good. Others might be improved with more experimentation. GroundHog_Pharr_060.mp4

I notice that in Windows 10 I can run 4 NetRender nodes on this 4 core machine and not need to use the Task Manager to set one to "Below normal" priority to keep the windows interface from slowing down. And it turns out that option is gone from the Windows 10 Task Manager anyway.

That could have been in Prehistoric!

Hi Myron, This zip has the ones that were a dead "QuickTime Video link" KeyFrameOptionsMP4.zip The last two on your list are still live, you just have to go to the page the link leads to. It's been years since I made those and I haven't re-watched them yet. If you have questions, ask!

Those got lost in one of the forum updates. I have backups much of that but I'll have to get on a different computer. I'll try to find them for you.

Animation Master license history question please
robcat2075 replied to Hash Tinhorn's topic in Animation:Master
Hi Simon(?) You can get old installers on the Hash ftp site... ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/ I'm not sure which versions apply to your disk, but I'm sure it's there. You may have trouble running them on Windows 7 or later however.
