  1. Thanks Simon. Your workaround is ideal for those of us with Windows and locales/fonts that Windows does not fully cater for. Its a known issue for the MS Color Picker. Anything but MS Sans Serif as a system font causes it to fail. My locale (regional settings) defaults the system font to Sergoe UI. Doing a regedit to set the FontSubstitute/MS Shell Dlg and MS Shell Dlg 2 fonts from Sergoe UI to MS Sans Serif has fixed the problem. Cheers
  2. My view is...... a few of us (well at least me) do have have the ability to tell a story. We have the technical abilities to do various 3d type tasks (modelling, rigging, texturing, animating) to varying degrees of success and if we want to see a film, we need to tack onto a community project otherwise we just dabble and play and generally achieve very little. Cheers
  3. Oh - yes, of course - Yes that worked. The defect is in the color picker itself (ie when you double click on the diffuse color or other color) but at least AM has an alternative method of entry. Many thanks.
  4. OK, the issue may have something to do with the Windows default font (ie what the system uses). Anyone know how to change the default font in Windows 7? Edit: Copy and Paste won't work in the field either! Cheers
  5. My laptop is running its default resolution with default display driver. Its a known problem but MS don't appear to want to do anything about it (perhaps why few , if any, other applications use it). There is a posted solution but it requires a hack to the MS Common dialogue control dll - that's a bit beyond my skillset.
  6. The colour pickers in Adobe, Paint.Net and Gimp do not have this problem BUT the picker in MS Windows Paint does have the same problem! So any suggestions on how to overcome the problem?
  7. So it overrides what AM does to the axis?
  8. The fields contain 3 digit values - it just won't let me enter (via the keyboard) more than 2 digits. I've tried the backspace and delete keys in combination a number of times to ensure I have cleared everything out of the boxes......
  9. I raised this last time I used AM and got nowhere. The 3DConnexion *standard* axis for Spin and Roll are swapped in AM. Last time I raised this (years ago) I was told this was what certain AM users wanted and it wouldn't change. Would a request to add a user option to use the 3DConnexion *default* axis be considered? Cheers
  10. Windows 7 64 Bit Home - 32 and 64 bit versions of AM 16 and 17- every time/case. (Existing and new models and patches)
  11. Seems that the AM colour picker does not allow for entry of the full range available apps (Paint.net, Photoshop, Gimp etc) or it uses its own scale. The colour I want is R 209, G 154, B 98 but do you think AM will let me enter 209 - No. So what do I do to try to match colours? Actually it looks like a defect with the colour picker value entry fields - they restrict users to 2 digits only....
  12. It's back. I'll have to wait till I get home to put the air compressor through the multiple fan ports to blow out the dust. Enough dust came out when I blew into them with my own breath!
  13. After a night of rendering just the opening scene, my Laptop (Toshiba Qosmio) seems to have died..... It was locked up and too hot to touch. I pulled the power and let it cool but it won't restart. I does appear to be now able to run a startup repair though - running for 20 minutes so far, HD light is flashing so it's doing something! Hopefully I won't have lost everything! Cheers
  14. Actually You should buy about five, one for the office, one for home, one for the laptop, one for the undecided cousin and one just to keep Hash in business, until next Year... For that many licenses you would be better off with the DVD....
  15. Yep - they are locked until I get the rest right. Once the rest is right I can move them about. I just needed to make sure I had the models locked in space so when I put the rest of the set in they didn't 'wander'/'drift'. OK, since the sword fight worked out so well (for me anyway) I started to think about building a "story" around it so working up a storyboard using A:M chor and models/sets. Here are a few renders so far (without giving anything away) I should point out that the story line is not original..... I'm not that creative - but it is a variation on a theme
  16. Hope stuff won't be just limited to shipping within the US only........
  17. If anyone is in need of a flint lock pistol for this competition then I should have one ready and available within a day or so (modeled on this). Well I am somewhat rusty with my modeling skills but this should do at a pinch.... (there will be a few DST files missing - got them all from the SO data) Cheers FL_Pistol.mdl
  18. Can't get Bulbs or Suns' from penetrating multiple layers of surfaces (and I have doen numerous normal flips) so have reverted to Kliegs instead. Going to take a few sound bites from Cutthroat Island (Geena Davis) and work up my own scene in that genre... Hopefully I am not taking on more than I can chew.
  19. The stippling artifact is a result of using the windows 7 snipping tool on the A:M UI. Cheers
  20. Some furhter tests to try to put a start and end on the sword fight. Modified the Skyship from SO to have an interior that Gloria can climb out of... There is light coming from somewhere on the end wall - left side (from the outside) - not sure why....
  21. It sounds like they are trying to patent taking the average of 2 values between 2 sets of values - are they serious!
  22. Started introducing the opponent..... pirategloriaPair.mov
  23. Its hard enough animating a sword fight on stationary ground...... I think I will leave the challenge of a rolling deck to another time (or someone more competent that I) Cheers
  24. Ooops. Wrong version went up before.... I have been using a Pirate swordfight scene I found on Youtube as my reference source for the first part. I'm not fond of real fencing as it has zero theatrics in it. I like big and bold, arcing movements that look good to the camera The hard part is going to be putting in th eother pirate..... pirategloria.mov
  25. Workable - yes but a little jittery for my taste. Use it for the big mouth movements only and skip the small changes in between and see how it looks. Cheers
