  1. It wasn't specific enough on what to do. ie it just said select the Sprite in the PWS - well I did that (it appears in multiple places and shows keyframes in materials but selecting it there didn't do the trick.)
  2. Sorry Robert - it was one of Holmes.... http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...=smoke+tutorial
  3. Thanks guys. Just needed to know where to set/access the animation keys. Got it now and all is good. Thanks for the tutorial link. I found an old one of your Robert that still talks about 'clicking on the material' (Particles_Sprites_Tutorial) - someone might want to remove it or redirect it to a more up to date tutorial (or label it as - will only work in versions older than....) Cheers
  4. Look at how Dreamworks promoted Gloria (Hippo in Madagascar) - part of her bi-line "....who says an oversized, heavy hippo can't master the high wire act?". Sure, Tar loves to fight - but he loves to party too - yes?
  5. Thanks guys. My aim it to create a puff of smoke so I would animate rate - ie a high rate dropping to zero at, say, frame 10 (or whatever looks ok)
  6. Just 1 shot left. I can't believe how hard/intense this exercise has been........ It's just fortunate that I was able to re-use the TWO and SO data and not have to build them myself!
  7. I'm trying to create a puff of smoke from the end of my flint lock pistol using the Smoke Tutorial and TAOAM but I cannot get AM to set any keys on the smoke parameters (sprite) Any suggestions?
  8. OK, another shot to add to the list. Thoughts? Is there too much going on? Does it read well? Cheers Sc07b_0000.mov
  9. Don't you just love it when experiments work! I needed to reverse the bend pose on my foils so it would bend from the point not the handle end. Well I am no TD so I thought to myself - what if I simply reversed the heirarchy of the bones in the model ..... and it worked...... I love it when things come together
  10. 7 scenes and 1:10 long thus far and hopefully only 2-3 shots to add to the final sword fight scene and it should be done. Maybe 1:30 all up! I did toss a scene (the scene seemed like a good idea at the time but just didn't cut well with the rest of the shots - ah it was only 4 sconds of finished animation......) and the sound/music overlays reasonably well (not going to get much better with 'cut together snippets/sound bytes from the Cutthroat Island movie....). I should point out that it's coming out of AE in H.264 at 104mb so far.......(the avi version came out at 1.3Gb) Is there a physical size limit to the file when it comes to FTPing to the Hash site? Hope everyone else is hard at it...
  11. Project and related files are way too big to post.
  12. I find it interesting that the Rendering of light 'through' geometry (ie windows/doorways) is different between a Final Render in AM and a Final Render in Netrender (Netrender gets it right). In AM, the light pentrates the geometry. In Netrender it is properly blocked by Geometry. (17g 64bit) Cheers
  13. Email Hash support direct to make arrangements.
  14. Nope - uninstall and reinstall makes no difference - it just wont't work with A:M (works with every other application I have tried). I can configure it for 2D mouse but not 3D mouse....
  15. Well this 3DConnexion thing is crap. It's stopped working again - works in Windows Explorer but won't load a profile for AM anymore. Very disappointing..... I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the software and driver *again*.....
  16. LOL - no hair but I may give her a bandana to 'hide' the fact that she has no hair The final render will take care of 'hiding' the pirate in that last shot until he steps forward out of the shadows. Gloria getting up off the pile of sacks still doesn't look right either. Something just isn't quite right and I haven't worked out what it is yet. OK, on to Scene 4 shot 2.... I'm really just winging it at present. I have an idea what I want each scene to 'achieve' but just setting up poses in a single frame that 'says' what I want the scene to say (or just looks OK) then 'tweening' them to fit together (working backwards in some cases - I know about animating straight ahead - but how about straight behind it's an interesting exercise.....) Cheers
  17. First 1/2 in varying state..... AM_PirateMovie.mov
  18. It works for "Makehuman" models to - but, depending on the polygon density can be more trouble than it is worth. If you are an adept modeller, Re-topology would be much quicker. Cheers
  19. The laptop is behaving again so back into it. Wow, this is turning into an epic...... In all I think I will have 6 scenes. I have completed the first 3 scenes plus most of the sword fight scene (but I keep going back to tweak the animation after final rendering - will I ever finish?) and it's only 40 seconds of animation but 30 hours of rendering (not including the fight scene) using netrender and 4 rendering nodes so far..... I think this is going to end up being a couple of minutes long and I will have to give myself a full week to render it our then a couple of days to cut in the sound.
  20. Absolutely. But there in lies Martins genius when he came up with TWO. Aside from those who have special projects, the rest of us have no real means of growing our talent without a project to cling to! The whole purpose of the TWO project was to grow talent - I believe SO was then an attempt to see what that grown talent could produce (I think we would all agree that SO was an order of magnitude better than TWO) I think Martin only chose a feature because there was so much interest from the community that a feature sized film would be needed to give everyone a go and doing a reasonable amount of work on no matter what level of skill they had. In the end it took so long for TWO to get through it's pre-production that many people became disillusioned and disappeared, leaving the project to be completed by a handful of people who stuck it out.
  21. I got it working. I uninstalled everything to do with 3DConnexions and also a 3DConnexion Emulation driver. I then reinstalled everything and it is now working like a bought one
  22. Success or failure of a community project is going to be based on 5 things; 1. A project that has a wide appeal in Subject and style 2. A project that has realistic objectives (aimed at the average community members ability and available time) 3. Has a single point of Direction 4. Has a single point of Organisation (can and should be different to the "Director") 5. KISS (6. Director and Organiser who get along - somewhat of an issue in the early days of TWO) If all these things are in place the project will get swamped with help at the start and interest WILL dwindle with time. At the end of 3 years on TWO there might have been 3-4 people still involved and a similar number at the end of 2+ years for SO (well really just 1 in the end). BUT note that it does not have to be the same people involved from start to finish. If the project is kept simple and straightforward then different people can step up as required when real life pulls people out of the project at different times. (I myself did no more than a few 2 month stints at a time on TWO and SO - in and out to keep myself from going bonkers) The other lesson (from a project managers perspective) - make sure that there is stuff for people to do when there is most interest in the project. ie the project has to be up and running very fast - all artistic decisions made etc, script done and dusted otherwise you will lose at least 50% of your starters who just don't want to hang around OR have nothing better to do with their time than make 'suggested' improvements (then argue about those suggestions if/when rejected) because they have nothing else to do and their creative juices are flowing fast! TWO and SO were eye openers for me and I saw a lot of the goings on that most were not privvy to. Also, find out what 'other' skills people have - ie non artistic as you will want to utilise people 'real life' expertise as well. Cheers
  23. No - they are all set to active..... The Tilt, Roll and Spin simply move the 3D Space in Z, Z and Y directions respectively. I can't even get the thing to work as a 2D mouse in the default Windows Explorer! What is the xml file for?
  24. So I installed it and I can only get the move in 3 axis (X, Y, Z) to work. ie no tilt, roll or spin. Any suggestions?
  25. Pledged. Will probably increase it toward the end of the month (depending on my account balance at that time )
