  1. Damn it Frank...I spent the last three days thinking before I came up with just that idea . I think it looks pretty good but you have to modify your materials to cope with the effect. Setting1: castle in the clouds. Still a work in progress. I need to fill in the spaces, build the surround and get my lighting and texturing right .Any criticisms & comments appreciated
  2. great little character..I'd also suggest altering the lighting, a subtle blue fill would pull the form out a bit more and as crtoonmike says, an edge gradient with ambience will also assist.
  3. Thanks for the comments. New image, I needed a way to get soft fluffy (blurred) clouds without DOF. Here's the result, it took a bit of lateral thinking.
  4. great take on a centaur xtaz. The thickened torso gives a real feeling of strength.
  5. hi Lance, fun little animation. Just a couple of comments, the sequencing of your camera moves can be confusing. When Macaroni runs behind the pieces of bread and then it cuts to another view of him with the cheeseballs(?) with the camera moving in the opposite position it doesn't flow. The other thing that would improve it is using close ups and medium shots rather than just long shots. Congratulations, finishing an animation is an achievement
  6. no, but I have the complete Ren and Stimpy Style guide and ref sheets
  7. aaargh Will, that's the kind of modelling that drove me to Kapsules for a break. looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the final.
  8. Hi Zach he's fun.... and he'll look good with the soft plastic setup I saw you just downloaded Robcat"s idea is cool, we need mary craziness
  9. since master files are text files your browser is opening it as such. try right clicking and saving as, if you still have trouble let me know and I'll zip it. I forgot to add that render settings are multipass on 16 passes, with Motion blur set to 100% and DOF on
  10. Mike. after looking through the thread again I remembered I had this image of Tony from an old project, like many characters there are a stack of different evolutions to choose from
  11. As promised here are the bg objects, materials, the lighting, and the post fx I used for the above images edit (I forgot to add that render settings are multipass on 16 passes, with Motion blur set to 100% and DOF on, if your browser starts to open the file try right clicking on it and selecting "save as") BG_Materials.prj
  12. Here's the latest Kapsule. the giantess in progress, and beside her is an image of the prj you can download below.
  13. Hi Mike.. Looks Great The chest still seems a little small, or maybe the legs are a little to large, but it's looking great.
  14. Iham Wrong: Close but no cigar Here's a hint "FeeFiFoFum". They make pretty good orcs though, don't they. CRToonMike: Thanks, I checked my Websters...but it's the concise edition and Grylli didn't make the cut...plus I guess they're becoming less Grylli-like anyway Rodney: Doc Oc was really tempting... but here's Jack. Critiscisms always welcome.
  15. Great work sam. love the emotion you were able to get from such a simple character
  16. CRToonMike: was Grylli an artist or is it just a very obscure term? The first of my Kapsule characters. Some of the splines aren't correctly setup yet. This render I switched to Skycast lighting and I added some extra detail to my "soft plastic" material.
  17. Great model to start with largento. Lots of character. The best way to get help with model topology is to post a mesh shot so that we can suggest alternatives. I can see some model creasing but without a mesh shot can't suggest a solution.
  18. fan bones or bone weights should smooth out her shoulder sufficently. I personally wouldn't add any more splines but your I'm scrooge where splines are concerned. When in doubt leave it out.
  19. Cute characters, can't wait to see them come to life
  20. fantastic images...really nice meshes .can't wait to see the movie.
  21. Answers Atommike:your wish is my command The six relationship shapes I use for the mouth and a screen shot of the wide neutral and narrow mouths. Zach: A key and a fill provide very basic lighting. I used a simple edge gradient material( the outer attribute with the ambience cranked up to 40 and a lighter colour) and I used a post effect with custom bloom and filmgrain settings. Rod: Mine..all mine
  22. nice sketches Will. thekamps: octopus do both also
  23. A bit of background fun....The characters are so simple I thought I'd try a matching style. Paul: I just use the eye's centre as the central point,The eyelids are larger so the eyes never pop out. Not sure if I understood your explanation though Ken: I've just hand weighted points, I started with capsules but couldn't get the effect I was lookin for. I started with 50 50 weighting on the splines I would normally have used a fan bone on, and then modified that to smooth the surface. in some cases I used 80 20 weighting on the splines before and after to smooth in
  24. Playing...too busy to get much done at this point )
  25. Fun stuff...fantastic efforts for 4 hours...one day I must give it a go
