  1. Select the five points like you have been doing, then hide. Drag a box around the five points and see if the five point patch button highights. It usually works for me, but i'm on pc. It's worth a try.
  2. He looks good with some texture on him. I see you added kinkiness to his hair. A little less may look better, IMO. I liked his hair better a little longer, too. He reminds me of a cartoon version of Captain Picard from Star Trek the Next Generation. Keep it up.
  3. Looking forward to seeing that animation with the trees growing one by one as the child plants the seeds.

Looking good so far. Are you planning on using decals for the hair? I don't know what version of A:M you are using, but v11 hair is amazing.
  5. It's looking great Zach. The one thing that bothers me most is the dark stripes in the floor. It reminds me of an outdoor deck.
  6. Looks great Ken. Try playing with the hair guides a little to see if you can get rid of the hair through the ear. I haven't had to much luck with hair collision. The eyebrows look great, maybe thinning the hair on his head the same, it looks a little thick. Great character! Keep it up
  7. The lighting looks good to me, but I'm no expert. Your telescopic idea sounds like it would work pretty well, but you would still have to scale all the rings, even though you are not stretching the segments. As the tree gets taller the trunk gets fatter. It's starting to sound more complicated to rig and to setup sliders. I wouldn't have noticed the bark if you didn't say anything. All in all it's looking great. Keep it up.
  8. I think it would look better if the leaves started to grow while the branch is about half way grown and continued to grow after the full growth of the branch. Just a thought.
  9. That looks great Bill. Can't wait to the animation. Is that patch leaves or hair?
  10. It looks great Zach. Looking forward to seeing it all textured. And I wish I got that much response to the things I've posted.
  11. The decal on the street that the green car is on is not lined up on the corner.
  12. Zach, technically it's not a sidewalk, it's a crosswalk, I believe. The sidewalk is where all the Thoms are walking.
  13. Yes, Randy is right about the chimney. I missed that one. And I see what you mean about the decal too. It's nice to have people to help you out. There is always something that you overlook.
  14. I have another suggestion. Adding a traffic light since there is no stop sign. I think it might add to the scene. all you would have to do is turn the glow on and off as the light changes. Here is an example.
  15. The set looks great but I do see a couple of problems. One is the set of wires on the left look unattached in the middle and two of the houses seem to be off the ground a bit. It's the second house on the left corner down the street and the first house with the steps on the right corner. You can see a dark shadow under them. Keep up the good work.
  16. Ok, here is a test for the length of the hair. I created 2 sliders for adjusting it. If you notice in the hair material there are 2 settings for length. One is for the measurement the other is for percentage. both models have the same hair pose. I adjusted the sliders to keep the same hair length as it grows. One scaling the measurement the other scaling the percentage, giving you two different results. The easiest way to explain it is one scales the hair guide the other scales the hair along the hair guide, like a path. By doing this it gives you more variation for one hair pose. And creating multiple poses you can generate alot of variation. When I'm done with this model you can add it to a character and change the hair style with a couple of slider moves. Add it to a couple of models and you can change the hair differently for each model. With the pose slider window open, all you have to do is click on your model and change the slider without opening everything in the PWS. Heres the result.
  17. Check out this thread. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5635 You can download the project file here to use with the treez plug-in. http://johnl.inform.net/pages/treeswithleaves.htm
  18. Yes it is frizzy. That was all done with pose sliders. This model is designed to copy and paste into another model that you want to have hair. I added the slider for the kinkyness. length and color, planning to add more, still working on the hair poses, so you can have different hair styles. This model uses one hair material, so if you have a couple of characters with the hair implant, you change all the settings with the sliders without effecting the base hair material and the other models. Its alot easier to adjust the settings with a slider than trying to change it in the PWS. The hair poses are the toughest thing to do.
  19. Looks great. The power of bump maps can be pretty amazing. Can't wait to see more.
  20. Started working on a new slider model that has hair poses. You'll be able to change color, length and slide to different hair styles. It's still in the early stages, but I thought I'd show you to see what you think. I plan on adding a slider for a ponytail too. I used Jane from the cd for my test subject. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.
  21. I did notice something the more I looked at it. The broken branch in front of the nest looks like it's not closed off or it has the same material as the branches. I think I it would look better with a different texture. And how did you do the texture for the tree, image map, materials or something else?
  22. Just hope your teacher doesn't find out.
  23. He wasn't supposed to tell anyone I help him with his homework. Didn't know how to bring up the plug-in on a mac. Thought it would have been the same.
  24. Does anyone know how to use the terrain plug-in for mac?
  25. Right click in an empty space in the modeling window. click plug-ins/wizard/terrain. That will open the plug-in, then there is a load button. you can load the image there.
