Congratulations, Colin!!! By the way, are you still considering producing an Uberman?
-
I'm happy to to wait until sometime in February too.
-
Beautiful as ever, Jim!
-
Yep! Love the textures on the face! Still love your Dodo though.
-
That has made a big difference!

Oh, Brilliant! Did you use a dynamic constraint on the halo/rings for the last few frames or was that hand animated? I love the way the planet bobs around and your Giant character is adorably infantile. Personally, the finger motion looks perfect to me. He stretches his fingers, emphasising the effort and potential energy, but his wrists maintain contact with the planet. Then when he over-rocks his fingertips grab the surface. Looks great! A winner! Thanks for posting that.

Wow! He's looking amazing, William. There are two things that catch my eye though and they are, as previously mentioned, the plastic look of the chest and belly and the other is the obvious spline running along the base of his pectoral muscles. Beautifully modelled Kong!

A character inspired by my children...
Paul Forwood replied to reddynamite's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Ah! You have found the secret to great character design. Let your kids do it! Dudley looks like alot of fun. Well done! Lights...camera ...ACTION! -
Ah! But do you have a mouse? How does the 29th fit in with your schedule, Garry?
-
Ummm... Have we got a laptop?
-
Sure A:M, Anders!!! Please.

Ahhh! I have just relised where this problem is coming from. I forgot that the PC I use for my internet connection is running with an old ATI Rage 3D card. The Nvidia Ti that was in there produced a fault just before I dedicated this one to web browsing so I put an old card in as a temporary messure. That would explain the banding. I am surprised that I haven't seen the banding so extreme up until now! Thanks for the comments! I think that I could probably knock out these mouse buttons in about 15 - 20 minutes now.
-
You'll just have to trust me, MAtrickz, the buttons are pretty smooth but you wouldn't know it looking at the banding on those images. Well, at least you can see my approach.

Hmmm! That image is not much better. I never realised that posted images were further compressed by Hash. Is the amount of compression applied dictated by the file size? If so does anyone know what the optimum file size is to avoid further compression or are all images compressed irrespectiive of orgignal file size? It would be good to know the guidlines for getting the best reproduction of an image posted here.

Time for bed

Oops! Too much compression on that jpg. This should be clearer.
-
In response to another Hasher's frustration with modelling mouse buttons without creases I had to have an attempt. (66 patches for two buttons).

This is going to be fabulous if your previous images are anything to go by. I think you need at least one more layer of staining though, which is wider and darker near the top of the bridge and fading out as it runs down the side. The main source of the staining would be the rails themselves, I guess, and also exposed ends of steel rods in the concrete. When I first saw this thread my jaw dropped. I thought that you had modelled and rendered that last image.

Saturday the 29th? Check! Synchronise watches! Better wait for Gazza and John to confirm that date I guess.
-
Sounds good to me, Stephen. If we can agree on a date and venue for the next meeting I could put a webpage together, with details and a map, before it's anounced in the forums. Then we'll see how much traffic that generates.

Hi, David. I would agree wih the above comments regarding look and feel. I would tone down all the colours and reserve vivid/bright colours for where ever you want the focus of attention to be. The decorative borders are too distracting at the moment and it's not something that you find much in modern industrial design. Safety first! I can see your name stencilled onto the grey metal plate at the bottom. 'DUSTIN' in the manner that you find on the back of a fork-lift truck or modern compressor. Big, bold yellow painton a dark background or the otherway around. Think DeWalt or look at other industrial branding. Something that says."Industrial Strength". It looks a bit like the interface for a computer game at the moment. I get the feeling that there might be rotating graphics overlayed on the left side and folders and filenames displayed on the right side. I'd like to see a working mock-up running on the internet to get a better feel for it. Anyway, good luck and I look forward to seeing how it develops. All the best!

Oops! It seems that MOMI closed down in 1999!
-
I think Ken may have been refering to this: Crab I can smell the sea.
-
Hey, that looks cool! You are certainly climbing the learning curve.
-
You should be able to get a travel card into town for well under a tenner, probably nearer £5.00, which will cover you for all the trains. You could get in early or stay late and take in the galleries or nip into MOMI. Yeah! As far as I'm concerned, Sam, the Chocolate Factory would be great!
