  1. Look familiar? . This isn't meant to be anyone specific yet. I just thought I would use my model of Obama's head as a starting point for this lady and he saved me a lot of work.
  2. Hmmmm....Nope. Quoted from Wikipedia: Tudor: Mary Tudor (18 March 1496 – 25 June 1533) was the younger sister of Henry VIII of England and queen consort of France due to her marriage to Louis XII. After his death, she married Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk. Tudor: Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland from 19 July 1553 until her death. She was the eldest daughter of Henry VIII and only surviving child of Catherine of Aragon. As the fourth crowned monarch of the Tudor dynasty, she is remembered for restoring England to Roman Catholicism after succeeding her short-lived half brother, Edward VI, to the English throne. In the process, she had almost 300 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian Persecutions, earning her the sobriquet of "Bloody Mary". Her re-establishment of Roman Catholicism was reversed by her successor and half-sister, Elizabeth I. Stuart: Mary, Queen of Scots (8 December 1542 – 8 February 1587) , daughter of King James V, (known as Mary Stuart and, in French, as Marie Stuart; was Scottish monarch from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567. In the lists of Scottish sovereigns, she is recognized as Mary I (Mary II being her great-great-granddaughter). Stuart or Tudor? Ahh! The "Treedor"! That sounds more Irish than Scottish.
  3. The Tudors were English-Welsh. I've never heard of the MacSpleen clan.
  4. Hey, Myron, you're a model maker now! That is pretty amazing, especially for a first attempt at modelling a character. Did you know that 3dArtz has a character called "McKnuckles"? I can see these two characters getting into a scap about who has the rights to the title.
  5. Render settings are in the Camera Properties or in your Render To File Properties. "Resolution" I'm sure you knew that really. Just having a moment of uncertainty? ---- Oops! Robert got there first.
  6. That's a great example of low patch modelling, Robert, and the motion is good too. I avoid hooks, unless I can hide them somewhere discrete, but that seems to be working alright.
  7. You have some terrific stuff going on in here, Steve.
  8. I wasn't really aware of the wake behind the saleboat but yes, I guess I can see hint of a wake now. The ClothWake4 test is very interesting!
  9. Nice scene, Robert. That boat needs a wake though.
  10. Sorry. Yes three instances in your case. I just picked an arbitrary number. For 3 instances it would be something like : PC1 - (1, 2, 3, 4, etc) PC2 - (25, 26, 27, 28, etc) PC3 - (49, 50, 51, 52, etc)
  11. I haven't tested this out but to my way of thinking it would be faster to render without steps. If you chose to render with a step of 5 frames, for instance, A:M would still have to calculate the frames inbetween if there were particles and probably for other aspects of the image. I don't know how much information is passed on from one frame to the next when calculating and rendering, so I can't be very accurate in my speculation, but that is the way that I see it. Render without steps! One, or all, of the programmers would have to give the definitive answer to that one.
  12. Colossal! Well done, Stian! Beautifully presented too.
  13. This is an example where both hair and sprites are used: Particle Woman
  14. You might also try exporting a very simple 3ds model and try importing that into A:M. What version of Max did you export from?
  15. That's a joke. There is no way that all those Hashers were born on the last day of the year.
  16. Thanks, Gene. Here he is partly rigged but no weighting or textures yet. NaviTest_A00_.mov I'm thinking that I should have given him proper feet so I may go back and do that. I also forgot that he needs more bones in his neck.
  17. Your model is looking very good, Javier, but I would be inclined to continue the spline with the hooks all the way into his armpits, unless he will be wearing something which will cover that area. I look forward to seeing your progress. -------------- Edit: You posted those second images while I was typing. It looks like the hooks are not an issue so far so maybe they will be okay where they are.
  18. This all looks great, Robert, but if you keep improving it everyone is going to think that it is just some guy with his hand in a sock.
  19. That's cool, Kat. I think I'll call you KoolKat. If I can help in any way I will.
  20. Copyi_A00_d.mov Here are a couple of new starts. The likeness is not too good but it shouldn't be too difficult to guess who it is supposed to be.
  21. He looks a little over fed for death. Business must be good.
  22. I love the illustrations for your book, Kat. The movie seems to be growing at a steady pace and you are certainly putting in a lot of time and effort. I do have concerns about the animation in parts, particularly the walks, and wondered if you intend to return to these sequences at a later date. It is a mammoth task that you have set yourself and you are doing a fine job in many areas but I would hate to see your efforts wasted by not fixing those glitches at some point. Personally I would like to see you just layout the whole movie with the sound track, as an animatic, and then go back to the animation, farming out any sequences that you are having problems with. If you are just making this movie for your own pleasure or the learning experience then just carry on doing what you are doing. I really like the characters and always look forward to your updates.
