  1. Dan, For that particular manipulation... set your distortion box to 1x1x3. That will give you the effect you are showing there...
  2. Wonderful start Cory! Looks VERY close to your sketch. Look forward to seeing the final model and motions... Keep going!
  3. Wonderful model dan! Only thing that strikes me as odd is the flatness of the hood. But that's an artistic or stylistic preference. The model itself ROCKS! Wonderful use of splinage. Look forward to seeing more from you!
  4. Excellent model Stian! (/me falls over) The detail is simply amazing. I like all the tubes and hose details. That's part of what makes it more 'complete'. Keep up the great work!
  5. Welcome ROKDAWG... you're never too old to have fun and enjoy life... remember you only get one quarter and you can't save. If you won a holiday contest (more than I ever won), then I'll be looking for more stuff from you! If you have any questions or just wanna show what you're up too and get opinions, just post in the Hash forums... Take care...
  6. Excellent model and especially the motion. Very 'alive'. Look forward to seeing more from you!
  7. Main thing to remember is that those are turbo props and not jet engines. (Only the outboard add-on engines are turbine jets) Those openings on the front of the wings are for the turbo and cooling air to the turboprop engines. I may try and duplicate the problem and post a better picture. I believe that most if not all the creasing can be eliminated by using a single spline across the top (yellow) and then short spline (green) to make the opening. Again, I'll try it before I call it gospel.
  8. I'd like to second the 'Excellent splinage' vote. Very good use of splines to keep the model lean, but detailed at the same time. Good work!
  9. Technodandy, First off, if you are only going by drawings such as this. Then you are never going to get that intake correct. I would reference better photos, such as these. That said, I would like to offer the following idea for fixing your problem area. (See attachement) This is just my thought, let me know if it's not clear enough (barring my shaky mouse brush ).
  10. I'd say the dragon is shaping up nicely. I too, Love the stylistic hands. I know the tail is not finished, but it seems a bit odd right now. Almost as if it's supposed to taper into rear legs. It should be more rounded like a snake, yes? I would also add more meat around the wing's shoulders. You have to support that bad boy after all! Keep up the good splinage... you are doing well.
  11. First, I would like to express my condolences at your loss. Good friends are hard to come by, best friends are even more rare. Cherish every friendship you have for every moment you have them. *HUGS* Remember, no man(or woman) is a failure who has friends. (Quote from "It's a wonderful life.") You have a wonderful talent for modeling. I especially like the use of cloth for his coat. Nicely done. Now I gotta go play with cloth in my copious amounts of spare time...
  12. I would agree with Paul on this. Keep your lighting super simple and concentrate on getting the details first and work on the lighting last. Also, touching up (pardon the pun) Lambina and changing her clothing is WAY easier than trying to model a female from scratch. You could even use some of the other more simple female models if you are just wanting representation of a person. Last questions, just curious, what kind of work is done in this area? (If you can tell us.) It looks like some kind of assemly/packaging line or shipping staging area and is your goal to demonstrate the differences for work efficiency? Keep us posted.
  13. Excellent modeling! Can't wait to see the craft you put it on. Did you use particles for the flames?
  14. Only critique I would have is the motion on the vehicle. It seems a bit, well, weightless to me. The rest of the animation is top notch! I look forward to the finished film, looks excellent so far.
  15. I guess the most obvious question for me are: 1. What game engine are you making this for? (Battlefield series, or something different?) 2. What is your polygon limit? 3. Why do you have such a detailed bridge? 4. Why does it matter how detailed the bridge is if this is a FPS game? (What's hidden doesn't slow down the game engine.) 5. How much detail do you have in all those antennas? (Could loose some detail there to get your last elevator in.) Looks good so far. And I think the rotoscopes are pretty good, accurate enough for a game anyway. Cheers!
  16. Nice work Godfrey, keep going and you'll be able to convince anyone that you are ALWAYS at a webcam.
  17. Update: Rigging almost complete for the scout ship. I have all the control surfaces rigged to pose sliders and a throttle slider that changes the control vanes and the engine flare size and length. Two renders for your viewing pleasure...
  18. That was a good idea... I had already begun doing that... here is where I'm at... pretty much finished, save for the cockpit, and a few minor details. I think I'll also merge the wings to the center section to make it look more "complete".
  19. Excellent work... love the details... two thumbs up!
  20. Well, I was moving on to another vehicle for my project and, thanks to the wonderful Osprey U6 tutorial by JohnArtBox, I was able to complete this in less than a full day! THANKS JOHN! I was nearly finished and realized that something didn't look quite right... I changed the engine size and now I'm really not sure which one looks better. What do you think the one on the left or the on the right?
  21. Update: Fixed two of the images above. You should be able to see them with no problem now...
  22. Thank you for the wonderful tutorials... I've saved them off to review again and again... Hopefully I can hone my modeling skills to about 25% of yours...
  23. Very nicely done... can't wait to see the finished product. (Now I have to go work on my star freighter some more... )
  24. Now I think Matry is getting upset that he's not completely rigged yet... I still have the leg, back and feature (eyes & mouth) control bones to put in and constrain.
  25. Both my "monitors" are LCD (stand alone and laptop screen)... so I'm still wrestling with that... I do however have a treat for everyone... got the rigging complete on Matry's tenticle... have a gander at a quick (took me 5 minutes to make) action I created. Tenticle_Test.mov
