  1. Hang in there. You raise valid points and we (collectively) do need to look at options going forward to prevent the bottlenecks.that can occur I think Fuchur is as frustrated as you and was winking because he thinks v19b will likely arrive before v19a... most unfortunate and frustrating. But also nothing that is under his control. I'm hanging with you here eagerly awaiting the next release too.
  2. That file is what is created upon activation... which hasn't yet happened for your v19 install. BUT... copy that master0.lic file from your other folder into the v19 and (all other things working as required) it will run and v19 will then be activated/licensed. The problem I see is that your program itself doesn't appear to be working (i.e. that DLL thing) so you've got (perhaps) two problems only one of which relates to activation/licensing. But take care of that license file first and as long as it is a current license you'll be fine.
  3. Yes, of course, that is the whole point of subscription renewal. We can use any version of A:M with the license going back to v15 as I recall (side by side/simultaneously too) The important thing is to have a -current- license file in the installation directory of whatever version you have installed. The missing dll is a bit of head scratcher but indicates that another program may have overwritten or removed the dll that A:M needs to use.
  4. Piracy App turnarounds: xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUnVr6x93d8 It's somewhat reassuring when you see a turnaround from Sony that has a passthrough. Disclaimer: Some of these youtube videos are unlisted so... probably shouldn't be directly sharing them. Sorry Sony!
  5. I know practically nothing about 'The Emoji movie' and haven't seen it but I noticed an interesting link that points to something I'd like to see more of happen as it bridges a gap in the creation/production/distribution process. Concerning the movie itself it appears to be Sony's attempt to grab some of that same success shared by Disney's 'Wreck it Ralph' and that franchise's upcoming sequel. Add in a good dose of the general feel of PIXAR's 'Inside Out' and you've got yourself 'The Emoji Movie'. Sony has released an 'The Art of Emoji Movie' as an online website. It seems to me that this approach might not only be emulated and result in more of the same from other production house but it also provides important insights into the process of animation production. This isn't to say nothing of similar approach hasn't been published onllne before but Sony is on the right track here. I've often thought (back in the day) that it would have been wise for theaters to offer for sale books and videos related to the movies audiences where attending in the lobby of the theater but recognized some of the problems with that idea (the first of which was that video tape was being eradicated by CDs) but I was thrilled to experience some of that in Japanese theaters where they sold movie books and merchandise related to films in their lobbies. It became a family tradition to purchase the book that accompanied the movies we saw that contained insights into the production. The angle here seems to be that of a similar approach where audiences with smart phones can now take home some of their movie going experience with them... relieve the experience... spread the word about the movie... and I"m sure... purchase merchandise. The important element for me is that insight into production. I always enjoy getting a deeper look into those. Sony's 'The Art of Emoji Movie' contains a look at the artists involved, color scripts, production artwork, progression reels, etc. Of course there is some cross-pollinisation in that many of the resources can be found elsewhere (online and presumably in other venues) Here's an example in the form of the progression reel of a scene which accessible via the Art of Book with the same exact video being available via youtube: xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udqs0zZc1ps Or this character turn around: xhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3a7iUN4nqY Link to the Art of site: http://sites.sonypictures.com/emojimovie/artoftheemojimovie/
  6. LIteManager Pro is another one of those free offers from Shareware On Sale that might be useful. I figure at this time if the folks at SOS want to take over my computer they've already got enough software on my systems to do that so... what the heck. There are many benefits to having a remote control application such as LiteManager. This application is in the same general category as others such as Team Viewer which allow another person access (of various types) to another computer. That access can be limited to simply viewing, projecting a demonstration, transferring files and taking over full control. Scary stuff no? This is the type of software that is useful for teachers who wish to monitor students, computer gurus given access to solve software/hardware problem remotely and general file transfer. With LiteManager Pro there are two applications; Server and Viewer. Server is the application users pay for and must register and it's the application that must run on the computer that will grant access to the remote viewer. Viewer therefore can be installed on any computer and take advantage of whatever access has been granted on the Server. Not that there is much need for such but A:M can be run over these types of connections with a minimum of discomfort. For any schools using a network of A:M clients a teacher (even from afar) could step in and perform.a demonstration, fix a problem or otherwise direct the student. Icons showing all available connections allow for quick movement from one computer to the next. For those on a network or running Rendernodes it can be useful to remotely log onto the rendering computers to adjust settings and troubleshoot. For those worried about security there are many security features but in the end if someone wants to own your computer they already own it.so don't let that be the deciding factor on whether you should consider use of enabling technologies. Just understand the risks and take appropriate precautions. If you miss this offer it's definitely not the end of the world. Other (free) programs that perform similarly can be found such as Team Viewer. The primary difficulty I encountered The offer from SOS can be found here: https://sharewareonsale.com/s/free-litemanager-pro-100-discount It states the offer is good for the next 2 days which has it expiring on 8/18/2017. Here's a random vase with entirely too many cross sections I lathed remotely: I am not convinced at this point that remote lathing is a major technological enabler but I did watch Martin Hash's 'Telepresence' movie so perhaps aliens could use A:M remotely from billions of light years away to lathe their vases too. The time from initial download to final lathed vase was approx. 1 hour.even with a few fits and starts on getting my computers initially to connect. The main problem with working with A:M remotely was a slight lag and finickiness when resizing windows as the cursor didn't always want to show. If I just trusted that the cursor was in the right spot I could adjust and move on. There is likely a setting that lets the user better control the cursor but I haven't looked for it. Technically remote computing qualifies as a 'revolutionary' innovation as it provides a bridge to shorten spans of time and space. So, while I don't have much of a plan to use it in this fashion it is on my radar.
  7. You mention you are rigging the character. Is there a specific rig you are using or are you creating your own from scratch?
  8. Nice. He'd fit in really well with Rabbit and Shaggy.
  9. Looks like Walt Disney may have caught a glimpse of that other universe back in '29 as recorded in 'Mickey's Follies'. The Elastobone universe... not the Spockmullet universe that is. Wow. Sorry for the huge gif. Let me see if I can shrink it. Hmmm... got it from 12.5MB down to 6MB with a few tweaks... more testing required. Edit: Looks like 5.7MB is the best for the moment without losing too much quality.
  10. That new deadline is appreciated. I started strong on my entry... or so I think... but then faded fast. The concept and initial setup was easy. Then the details started getting in the way.
  11. Robert, you are on to something there. I shall now go and up my investment in rare earth metals. Nice demo BTW. That's what is so great about 3D software. It's great for showing off things both real and imagined.
  12. It's nice to know someone on the cutting edge. Looking forward to what you discover.
  13. Yum. Looking good! That image is making me hungry.
  14. Interesting! More information please.
  15. This is a second foot stomp on this application. I note that comments entered into tasks can include images and html links. That's a definite plus. Not only can images then be added to comments for each task/subtask but easy links to references both online and off. For those that don't want the full/Pro version (or miss the offer) there is a free version but it lacks the higher end features such as sync. I didn't get my phone to sync yet but haven't tried very hard. I do note that the mobile version of this application is said to be free (so the PC will have something to sync with). Hmmm... This could be useful for tracking folks going through TaoA:M and making sure I've acknowledged progress. Or for making sure I meet that contest deadline.
  16. Okay, this is probably a pass for most people but I see some potential in it and therefore value. Since availability of these offers are of limited time I want to let people know it's currently available. The gist: This is via Shareware on Sale (I've definitely warmed up to this company and their approach although standard disclaimers apply when installing any software) Offer Efficient To Do List (Efficient is the software company) What it does: Creates basic To Do lists and allows organization of those lists Normal cost: approx. $30 Free through SOS offer for the next two (2) days. This program is almost too simple and yet it has a few things that catch my eye. 1. Import/Export The ability to export to .cvs format which allows for use in other programs to include Excel (tested), Tiddlywiki (presumably). etc/ 2. Attachments I need to investigate this more but... seems straightforward enough 3. Links This is a big plus in my estimation because the links can be html/shortcuts, programs, etc. Good for quickly and easily launching an application or reference associated with a Task listing. 4. Syncs with ioS and Android phones (I haven't tested this) More stuff I haven't investigated. Could be useful for Project Management or just basic organization. It uses Getting Things Done (GTD) principles which is popular these days. Find out more and download here: https://sharewareonsale.com/s/free-efficient-to-do-list-100-discount The company website and info: http://www.efficienttodolist.com/
  17. Jason, Let us know if there is anything we can do to assist.
  18. Its crazy the cat walks in its own footprints without even consciously thinking about it.
  19. Heheh. That is indeed silly.
  20. Interesting. They must have been trying to do one of those Disney projections that make the house look taller than it actually is. Nice modeling all around Robert!
  21. Ohoh. Hot off the presses. As predicted... Blackmagic Fusion is back (with version 9) and the price point for the Studio release dropped from just short of $1K to $299. Even without any major upgrades to the software, in my estimation that is yet another game changer. And... the free release is still available with most of the upgrades included. Using the free version with A:M is a no brainer. Do it. I sense purchasing the Studio release has just appeared on my radar. Link: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion/
  22. Thanks to Steffen for addressing a minor concern with the Save upon Render feature. Much appreciated. https://www.hash.com/reports/view.php?id=6744
  23. It's more than fine not to answer now (or at all even!) because it's mostly just impulse reactionary marginalia. Sometimes I wonder if critiques are even worth venturing into... After viewing your video multiple times I find that many of the points I raised are in fact there in the video. For instance, you've put considerable effort into varying the color of the clothes the characters are wearing... transitions from one shot to another do connect better than I originally comprehended... the narrative flows better than I thought. Some of the questions I raised I still don't have any insight into but again, much of that will be supplied by the audio and voice tracks. There is something I read not long ago that may be useful concerning critiques and that is (roughly): When someone critiques a thing it's not very important to consider the details of what they suggest but rather to consider the areas that those suggestions occupy. Most of these equate to things you already know and will refine if/when you have the time. For instance, transitions. Each transition is important but they all must work within the context of the greater whole... which only you have the bigger picture of. Another example: Character differentiation is important. No surprise there. Much of that will be brought to light with the recording of voices. Yet another; things that aren't clear at the beginning often crystalize into fuller clarity by the end of the telling. Having said all of this I would therefore amend my thoughts to suggest that anything you can do to direct the viewers attention to those things that drive your narrative of "Happy Families" and what that means from the various perspectives of the characters will be time well spent. I look forward to your next update!
