Dalemation Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 This is part of the interior of the haunted house posted a while ago. It`s obviously not completed and some items are `stand ins` but I thought it was about time I showed something again. Quote
starwarsguy Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 It looks great! I only have one little problem with it... I think it is too bright for a haunted house. Although, maybe you're going for that look. Quote
Dalemation Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 No, you`re quite right. I`ve used an image on a light to create the impression of light coming through a window. This will only be used for lightening in the film but in this still does give the feeling of bright sunlight streaming through. Quote
-TC- Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Cool, i like it. I agree that the lgiht is a bit too bright. You could mabe add some mist to give it an extra creepy look, or mabe mist is for outside <_> What are your planning to do with this haunted house ? Quote
D.Joseph Design Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 That looks great! How are you doing candle flames? Particles? Will the candles affect the room lighting in some way? Quote
John Bigboote Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Quite COOL! I LIKE the light...I like everything but the knight...it's right off the hash CD and everything else is not, seems out of place. My apologies if that is your own knight model. Only other suggestion: spiderwebs! Quote
Dalemation Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 TC - The haunted house is intended for a pilot for a proposed kids series. Fingers crossed Daniel - Yes the candle flames/smoke will be sprites and I will affect the lighting of the scene. John - It is the knight from the Hash cd. One of the `stand ins` I mentioned I`ve been working on spider webs. Infact in the original render I had the camera looking through a web but I didn`t like it. I painted the web and applied it to a patch. If anyone has a better way of creating webs I`d be very interested. Quote
D.Joseph Design Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I'd like to know how you're making the flame lighting effect on the room. Quote
Far Star Productions Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 looks great and i like the way you think. Keep it up. Quote
Dalemation Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Daniel - For the flame lighting effect I shall probably place a light near the candle and just `flicker` it over time. Jack - Thanks, I will try and keep motivated. My priority now is to complete storyboards and create an animatic so I know exactly what I`m doing. Quote
Zaryin Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I like the overasll look of the house, but also think the lighting needs to be toned down. Maybe if you "blued" it up a little? Quote
gazzamataz Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Wow! Nice stuff Dale - do you wanna help me build the inside of Witchy Pegs house by any chance? I think that Zaryin is right and it needs to be a little colder perhaps by eing blued up. It looks a little too cosy at the moment. As for spider webs I had some success by making them outta splines and then rendering them as lines. They don't look too good close up but in the distance they are OK. Here is one I did earlier, I think it needs a materials applied to it: Quote
wombat359 Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 The spider looks quite good as it is. Quote
D.Joseph Design Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Except that spider webs are usually not black. Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Looks great so far! I like how you distorted everything, makes it look more creepy... I'd like to see some closer and larger renders though so I can see everything more clearly. Quote
Dalemation Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 Gazzamataz - Hopefully one of us will have success with our project and can employ the other. Hint hint The house will be darker. I`m going to keep it `green` I think. I will have a go at creating webs the way you stated. I`ve never rendered as lines before. Looks great so far! I like how you distorted everything, makes it look more creepy... Thanks. I really don`t like the perfect look of most CG which is my main reason for eliminating most straight edges. I'd like to see some closer and larger renders though so I can see everything more clearly. What, and show how poor my modeling really is Which bits do you want to see? Quote
Dalemation Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Ive added a few cobwebs (thanks for the `render as lines` tip Gary ) and made a couple of other alterations based on everyones comments. Quote
hypnomike Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Coming along nicely. The new lighting gives the place a more sinister feel, looks better than the first picture. Quote
Hutch Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 It reminds me of a Scooby Doo set on mushrooms. That is a pretty scary thought! Seriously though I really like the lack of perfectly straight lines. Makes it seem almost alive. Quote
