anzovin Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 We're announcing a contest to create models in A:M for the upcoming release of The Setup Machine 2. Yes, we need cool models created in A:M 2004. Specifically, we are looking for: --A four-armed alien warrior (think Tars Tarkas from the E.R. Burroughs John Carter books) --An evil giant squid --A centaur Specs: Models must be high-quality and professional. They must be animatable, with moderate and efficient, not overdense splinage. No hair. No clothing. No rig. No weighting. Textures can be minimal; we will be looking mainly at the geometry. How to submit your work: Create a web page and put on it links to one or more screenshots of the model mesh and a link to the model file. Send a link to the page to raf@anzovin.com, cc morgan@anzovin.com and steve@anzovin.com. We will be in touch. Contest deadline: We're in a tearing hurry, so we want these by 12 midnight July 31. Earlier is even better and will prejudice the judges in your favor! Contest Rules: Well, there aren't many. The model has to be original. You must be willing to grant full ownership of the model to Anzovin Studio. Anzovin Studio is the sole judge of the contest. The Prizes: The winner(s) will receive a complete set of Anzovin Studio products, including TSM2, A:M QuickStart 2nd Edition CD-ROM, Animate a Face with Justin Barrett CD-ROM, A:M in Live Action with Sam Buntrock CD-ROM, WeightMover Plug-in Edition, and The Human Machine when these products ship. Questions? steve@anzovin.com Looking forward to what you all come up with! Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Here's my first low-patch, (1120), Squid model. I have tested it with my own rig and it seems okay. It could use more detail but I wanted to produce a simple, yet animatable model first. I have two other versions with modelled suckers in production but would prefer to avoid long chains of adjacent 5 point patches if possible. All comments welcome. Thanks. Paul Forwood Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 This image shows the splines more clearly. Paul Forwood Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Sorry. I forgot to convert that last one to a jpg. Quote
Frank Silas Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I figured there'd be a zillion posts on this thread for entries! I'll see what I can do to get a model whipped up guys. I can't live without WeightMover. I've owned TSM since the begining, but I haven't had time to use it. I will be using it a lot as soon as I finish my current short film, though. It would be an honor to be associated with you in some way. So I'll throw my hat in the ring! Frank Silas http://www.franksilas.com Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Fantastic, William! Beautifully modelled. Have you tried to rig one of tho tentacles yet. I'd like to see how well they animate. Superb model. Paul Forwood I have another squid model which is almost ready for posting here. I didn't have any reference images for the last one so this one will correct the position of the long tentacles. Quote
Xtaz Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Hi Hashers : I cheered up with this contest, and I decided to put the hand in the mouse and model my centaur version After some sketches, here is the result : Centaur by Xtaz Peace Xtaz Quote
ZachBG Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 Well, as long as we're going for completeness: May the best mesh win... Quote
pdaley Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 ZachBG: That centaur is the least centaur-y looking centaur I've ever seen. He is laugh out loud funny though. He's like the 600 pound weakling centaur or maybe the computer animator centaur. I'm still smiling. Quote
KenH Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 Heh...it's the "Mr Bean" of centaurs I can imagine him not wanting to gallop as he might scratch his hooves. lol There's a story in there somewhere. Quote
joris Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 Hello, this is my woman centaure... I try to make it as well as i can... There is some problem with the decal but I post it now... Sorry for my awfull English.... I'm french and not very fluent in English... Quote
John Bigboote Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 OK- Here's my SexyCartoonyCentaur. I have no way of creating a webpage to enter this contest, I am an artist/animator...not a webmaster. I'll send my plea to Raf and Steve... Quote
anzovin Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 I'm pretty impressed by the quality of the work we're getting for the contest (not all of it is appearing in this forum). Thank you so far to all the contributors! I was planning to announce the winners on Saturday, Aug 1, but turns out I won't be able to do that, so winners will be announced on Sunday Aug 2 instead. John Bigboote Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Thanks Shazam...Thanks Ken. Like most Centaur creators, I combined two existing models...I just chose to keep the 'feet' from the model I used the head from. I don't expect to win, I just like to be in these contests. The sexuality may be too much for the topic, but I like to push boundaries in that dept. Also, I have always found a strange similarity in the anatomy of a 4 legged (hoofed) animal and that of a highly lifted hi-heeled shoe. I am just weird that way. The body got a little 'green' thru lifting the levels in Pshop, needs some work. But I plan to have some fun with her once I get my mits on TSM2. I think we ALL look forward to TSM2, THANKS Anzovins! John Bigboote Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 REVISED! I realised that something was 'amiss'... Also here's an Arctic Pigs version. Oh- I see you can only attach one file...I'll put the AP file in the next reply... Quote

AMAR Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 one question i didn't get the chance to submit my centaurian yet is it too late? Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 This is another attempt at doing a squid. It could do with some more tweeking but the deadline approacheth and I am just about sick of squids. Good luck to all who are submitting model images. I've seen some very impressive samples here on the forum but what is happening elsewhere? Will Anzovins be posting a link to all the entries? That would be interesting. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Enough splineage to allow some facial expression for this mildly comcal squid. Quote
amarillospider Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 Hey Peeps, I sent it to da Anzovins but figured I'd post a pic here to. Wanted to give him a big ponytail mane thing, and maybe a wicked goatee, also wanted to decal him up. Alas ran out of time. -Alonso Quote
Paul Forwood Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 One last squid. This is version 6 and is somewhat lighter than the last one as he is without suckers. It may be too late for the deadline but I'll post it anyway. Quote
