free hosting User Subdomains for Animation Master Tutorials

Hello,

So I got some of the stuff worked out for for user sub domains to host Animation Master Tutorials on our server.

How this will work.

• Email support@hash.com with the info below.
  • The Sub Domain you want. For me I would pick http://jdsimonds.hash.com. Your sub domain choice will also be your ftp user name for ftp log in
• I will email you back the info below:
  • Your ftp.hash.com username and password (I will not keep that info, so save the email or I will have to reset it if lost)
  • Your Domain link
  • Time Till Live (There is a bit of server side work for this right now but if people really start using it I will add code to make it faster)
• What you can and can not host with us:
  • We will allow you to host anything Animation Master related on our site this include Models, Projects, Videos, Tutorials, Training, And really anything that helps the Animation Master community!
  • We will not allow anyone to host Competitors Software, Products or Links, Offensive or Pornographic Material, Really anything Not Animation Master related, anything you do not have rights to, or any private or copyrighted material
  • Our servers are in the United States so we can not host anything that violates any laws in the United States
• Things that can help with hosting:

  • our server is Ubuntu Server 14.01.2 LTS so our server is case sensitive so if you are linking to "FlowerPower.jpg"

I'm trying to decide if I could use this or not. I have a wordpress domain that I have been using sparsely, but the registration is about to expire. I'm trying to decide if I should renew that and keep going there, or perhaps at the very least migrate the video content and such to here and scrap the blog aspect totally. Since Papa Bear has a section on the forums it makes sense to keep it "all in the family".

I have a busy few days coming but let me look into/read up on WordPress hosting I think I would just make a database for users that need it and send them that info too but let me look into it a bit

wordpress... that one has more security holes than anything else out there... every few days new exploits are mentioned on the news websites... be sure to secure it as good as possible... especially if you let them use custom plugins and themes... the problem is, that too many people use it and as that it is very valueable to break into it since you can use the exploit on many websites at the same time without much more work than hacking one website...

Yeah WordPress maybe under the same reason we do not use phpbb for the Hash, Inc. Forums when you are so large everyone is after you all the time.

I wasn't hinting that you start hosting wordpress, merely that I had some decisions to make, and your adding the subdomains makes that decision process that much easier. Adding a blog feature to forum members could potentially help drive traffic into the Hash site though. But that is purely a call for you to make, with no pressure from little ol' me!

I was not taking it that way. But some users may like things like WordPress, Databases, and other things to make their sites nice and functional
