Madfox Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Hey Animation Master.., I've been modelling my best friend, uncle Donald. Great to do, there's only that little bit that makes it different from the original. Think that will always be, at least a nice try. donald06.mdl Quote
johnl3d Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 now make him smaller so we have his nephews.... Quote
Madfox Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 I was so impressed by Qu@ckAttack, I couldn't let him go. His mouth is one of the hardest parts, still have the feeling it could be smaller. I retraced it with a tga file, but this makes it a little changed. I never have found out why he always looks double, but not from the side. Quote

Admin Rodney Posted January 29, 2014 Admin Posted January 29, 2014 I never have found out why he always looks double, but not from the side. Double? which part? Maybe he means 'double jointed'? Quote
Madfox Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I ment, how do you call it .., squint? Because he's a comic figure he has that strange glare. From the side it hardly matters. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 30, 2014 Hash Fellow Posted January 30, 2014 Now I know what bothered me about the beak. You've got a peak along the top that isn't in the drawing. Quote
Madfox Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Yeah.., true. I made his mouth from the feet. And because of the flat attitude I made them twittling. Hard to make it lipposing, I think there are too many squads. Now I'm examing I see the width of his eyes are too large and I can't use his eyebrows. Maybe I should start with less vertices to assure it won't become unnecessary complicated. I need a result to improve myself. Quote
largento Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Translating a 2D character to 3D is challenging, but I love seeing the results. One thing I do when I start one is look for model sheets that will have good turnarounds, so that you get a good idea of what the character is supposed to look like at different angles. Sometimes these don't match up very well, but in most cases, the well-designed characters do. I found this sheet that gives some good angles on Donald: Quote
Madfox Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Hey thanks Largento! I used the VectorDonaldDick file to model it. Soon I reached the moment it became an odd shape of a showoff. This will help a lot! Quote
Madfox Posted October 27, 2022 Author Posted October 27, 2022 Congratulations Donald! You remind me on my birthday november 1953, the day your first number was published in Europe. You make me feel young again! Let's give you a DuckMobile for present. 😎 duckwalk - QuakeAttack AM_DuckMobile.mdl 1 Quote
