Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 13, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted June 13, 2013 This actually happened a few days ago... A cello player comes to the internet cello forum, his first post. He talks about an unexpected result he got with a particular string and bridge combination and asks, "Has anyone else had this experience?" One of the forum elders swoops in to tell him that he ought to know that such a question should not be discussed on an internet forum and that he hopes no responsible cellist would ever engage him on it. And... "Welcome to the forum!"
itsjustme
I can't imagine why it shouldn't have been discussed. Guitar players are constantly talking about those kinds of things in open forums. Very strange.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 13, 2013 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted June 13, 2013 The fact that guitar players ("electric" guitar players i presume?) do this would only be further proof of the danger that such misguided discussions present. largento
I'll go one above that to say that the A:M forums just keep getting better.
Gerry
I'm cancelling my cello lessons!

Not just electric. Lots of discussions about things like that amongst classical and flamenco guitarists as well. Modifying the action to get the best results, types of strings for different needs, etc.
thejobe
well nows your chance to make your own cello forum and make it the best in the world. make a New Website call it "www.thesoundofstrings.com" "the number one source info and discussion on string instruments". have weekly articles about events, tips, and info on everything from harpsichord to guitar, violin to bass. have a News section, forums section and a links page showing the best places to get equipment and sources for more info. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 20, 2013 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted June 20, 2013 Why can't there just be a forum that works right when I get there?
Fuchur
Why can't there just be a forum that works right when I get there? Because you are just too petted by the A:M Forum . Most others are somehow crowded by lets say... less sympathic people. See you *Fuchur*
