brainmuffin Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 last night in a fit of boredom I decided to play around with simcloth. So I made a cube, and after tinkering with settings, I got this: Jello1.mov So I made more cubes, tweaked the choreography, and got this: jello2.mov Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 8, 2011 Hash Fellow Posted January 8, 2011 Now I'm hungry. Quote
John Bigboote Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Can you put a piece of fruit in the middle of it? Quote
pixelplucker Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Nice! now you just need the pineapple slices. Quote
johnl3d Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 yes jello is fun http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...79&hl=jello Quote
John Bigboote Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 That illustrates how valuable JohnL3D's experiments are... that was way back in ought8 John tried using cloth for softbody's in that 'jello-esque' test... and the next comment was Rob saying 'I'm surprised that works'... and bingo- the seed is planted for Rob's later incredible SimCloth softbody advances. brainmuffin Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 The problem I'm having when I drop more than a few is that they get 'dented'. if you look at the corner of the cube on the front left, you'll see the corner gets dented in on impact. More cubes seems to result in more extreme denting. Quote
John Bigboote Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 ... and you have tinkered with the stiffness settings? Rob recommends a stiffness value up around 1000. Quote
brainmuffin Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 But which stiffness setting? I have "Bend Angle stiffness" set the highest, at 40. Followed by "Shear Stiffness" at 20. lowest is "stretch stiffness" at 10. Damping is set to 0, so that the jello will jiggle... Quote
thefreshestever Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 try to set the stretch type to "springs" instead of "stretch/shear" and set the stiffness up to 1000 or so... that´s how i got the best result for something similar to your test... Quote
paradymx Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Nice work! Between you and robcat, you guys are making me want to play with some simcloth.. Quote
